Top tier story telling. Despite how impulsive and ignorant he was in the first two episodes, it shows that at heart, the adventurer is a genuinely good man trying to be a hero.
I love how that statement combined with the fact he has no health bar implies he is not an enemy to itself, just to everyone else. It is the manifestation of perfect, longlasting evil.
As someone who owns pet rats they definetly have a moral compass " I can only try to bite his eyelids off is he doesnt back off his face 5 seconds after I approach". Also, legitimatly shaken down by Marshall betrayal
"A health bar does not show who's an enemy to you, it show's who's an enemy to themselves." That line has some real "Christopher Walken telling Adam Sandler he's an angel of death" vibes to it.
Watching the video as the line is said. Then the guy looks up, as you look up. Only realizing because you looked at the video, as the health bar disappears.
Honestly it reminded me of The Witcher 2 and how things completely unrelated to your choices would change drastically depending on what you did. Like actual, major plot events that happen without the main character or anyone they’ve talked to can play out entirely different depending on a few choices. Felt like it was parodying that tbh
I like how by the time the adventurer gets to town, Marshall has sacked it and they've had time to make wanted posters of him while the town was being sacked, Me put them up in the sacked town and
@@Yatagurusu true! they have some very strange priorities. Maybe in the connected Joel Haver Cinematic Universe, we will some day get an episode about the guy who put up the posters :D
@@Yatagurusu it's a videogame, clearly Marshall could fast travel to the village since he'd been there before. And the posters materialised as soon as Marshall was seen committing a crime
Holy shit, he almost cried when he was told that marshall was now evil, I legitimately felt bad for him, great character progression, that was really cathartic
I mean some are worse than others. There’s killing and then there’s evil. Like for example there’s enslavement, double tapping bodies, rape, etc. Awe, true to Caesar
I'm like the giant. 😞 I've tried to implement a lot of social habits in myself that help express how I'm actually feeling to avoid the issue, I can sometimes tell when someone isn't sure how I feel. I think I've made good progress over the years.
Same here, everytime a friend or my bother call me, im happy inside, but i cant express it, and they always ask if they are bothering me, or if im in bad mood, and hang up few moments later 😵
After the two previous videos, the last “Adventure awaits… huzzah!” was so forcefully executed and so absurdly unexpected, I didn’t know whether my chest would burst from glorious exultation or laughter. Thanks for the experience!
What do you think he did? Like did he embezzle a little tax money for wine and whores. Did he give his nephew a job he wasn't qualified for. Dismiss public office holders he didn't like.

@@ScopedogTC He hated them... They were animals and he slaughtered them like animals... He actually managed to use that to flirt with a spacial senator, tho.
After watching this video repeatedly, I've finally made the connection that Marshall went to the prison to release the Kingdom's worst criminals, including the player.
Same here, that old man is way too wise. Even when the rat died in the first run he mostly was sad about Marshal's cuteness rather than his personality. That is a precious detail that shows that NPC in the game are indeed self-conscious
@@TheLegalCustodian Oh fuck you caught me! ... But.. eh, I'm undead. If I had value then why am I not just alive alive or dead dead rather than in-between?
@@tonitruivena8554 Literally the point of the game is that each conflict can be resolved nonviolently and the monsters you fight are either fighting in self-defense, are very confused, or can hurt you by just being what they are. The only characters you cannot kill explicitly lack health bars, a health bar is a liability in that game.
@@tonitruivena8554 In a way it does, the monsters that you have to fight don't really want to fight you, they're just making bad decisions or happen to be at the wrong place and at the wrong time.
Why is "Adventure... awaits" such a fucking insane line before killing the first boss of a game. Especially after such a build up like this one lmao it hits.
it could also be used as a way of saying whatever happens after this it's going to be exciting, sort of like Gandalf talking about dying being a great adventure
It's a callback to what he said when he first started playing, when he had confidence and excitement for what he was doing. Though some part of it, large or small, is just straight up good acting. I hear passion in that line.
*I love the character’s development.* The protagonist is now actually more accepting of monsters, as long as they don’t try to kill him. He even made a friend at the end who’s willing to give him water.
I like how we're told that Marshall went to free the worst criminals in the Kingdom from Prison and the MC's opening lines are "NO PRISON CAN HOLD ME." He was the bad guy all along.
Twice in a row I accidentally started a war because of my actions. This is with two separate characters mind you the original died because an assassination attempt on a king...
@@gabethebabe3337 Completely unrelated but you reminded me of the time I was on a school trip on the bus and we stopped to buy stuff. I had no money so I asked my friend if he could share his candy with me and he agreed (it was this sort of jelly beans that for some reason everyone in my school was into). After we got back on the bus, we started chatting and listening to music. I ended up grabbing one of the beans, and tried to throw it at my friend, who was sitting right next to me, but I missed (I literally don't know how) and it hit someone on the other side of the bus. I leaned down and held my hands over my mouth because I knew my loud ass laugh would let them know it was me. Miraculously, my friend didn't out me (kind of friendship where we just mess with each other constantly). In the end, the person on the receiving end of my throw assumed it was one of his friends, and he threw one of his own beans at his friend. His friend also happened to have the jelly beans, so he grabbed one and threw one back at him. Whole situation derailed, everyone with the beans started raining multicolored hell on the bus floor and all I can say is me and my friend were being thrown beans and I was actually eating them happily while he was just losing his shit at the chaos we had created. I'm pretty sure this all happened on the way back actually, not at the start of the trip, since I remember we got back to school and the actual Principal got in the bus and started lecturing everyone about how we shouldn't be so irresponsible and whatever. I remember I quickly got up before that however, and I told him me and my friend hadn't bought any and we didn't have anything to do with it. I remember believing that was true until we got off the bus and my friend told me that I'd just lied to the Principal. Man that was an awesome day and I've relived it many times since, I used to be a real chaotic mess lol.
@@SanAntonioJoker I'm thinking more than 1 and a half hour and less than 2 and a half. It didn't last too long, I think. The stop we made to buy stuff was pretty far into the way back and the whole bean war started not too long after, though honestly can't place this in time. It could've lasted 10 minutes at the least and at most about 30.
"Too long have I suffered this indignity ... I am no one's pet! I am not cute, dammit! I'm a rat! A wild, dirty, diseased rat! And a rat should be FREEEEE!" "Marshal? Town's this way lil' buddy"
Okay -- life sharing time here. I know it's silly to put such a life reference for a video that's meant to be for fun, but this video is truly something I used to use as inspiration. About the time this video came out (and a few months prior), I was dealing with mistakes that were haunting me, and overcoming parts of me that I knew I needed to let go (I was engaged at the time, so letting go of lust was a big goal of mine). I was sick of failing, and "doing everything wrong". I worked hard to overcome that part of me, for myself, and my soon to be marriage. There came a time where I did. I came to this video regularly. Again, silly, I know. But it helped remind me what I was fighting for. I'm married now, to a very kind hearted woman. I come back to this video from time to time, remembering the challenges I had to overcome. All in all to say this -- if someone here did the same as me, or felt the same, don't give up. The door awaiting on the other end is very much worth it.
You let go of your lust because you were going to get married? how does that work? why? if you mean that you shouldnt look at other women anymore thats wrong too, theres nothing wrong with that either, or do you mean let go of it because you know the stereotype that once you get married good bye sex? if its lust for other women you just focus it on your woman but you never let go of it, thats just wrong
@@CojanDaniel haha no man. My wife and I happily have plenty of fun in bed :). I meant more of pornography and lusting after other women just because of looks. I have friends that are females, but there's a strong boundary in that. I know other guys are able to be close with other women without any concern of feeling anything more than friendship. But I don't want to go back to what I used to struggle with. Pornography/cheating/etc will most definitely destroy a marriage, and I wouldn't want my wife think I value any other woman over her. She's more than enough for me. Of course there's struggles, but even in those I choose to follow her and not another woman, because that's what I signed up for in marrying her, and I wouldn't want it any other way. God blessed me incredibly, and I'm happy to be where I'm at!

So in other words
Adventure Awaits
HUZZZAAHHHHH
Your amazing you went through all of this and now you overcome it god speed man
You let go of your lust because you were going to get married? how does that work? why? if you mean that you shouldnt look at other women anymore thats wrong too, theres nothing wrong with that either, or do you mean let go of it because you know the stereotype that once you get married good bye sex? if its lust for other women you just focus it on your woman but you never let go of it, thats just wrong
