- Jamie Blackley and Harr McEntire do their scene and solos.
This was filmed with the most OBNOXIOUS audience of all time. I saw the show many times in a row and this was BY FAR the most rude and immature audience that I saw it with. Every other time I saw the production, the audiences laughed at the appropriate places and were quite mature and respectful. Unfortunately it was THIS day that we filmed. Attempt to enjoy the acting and ignore the audience.
Filmed at the Lyric Hammersmith on March 11th, 2009. There is NOT a full show, only selected scenes/clips. I put these up as a way for people who never got a chance and will never get a chance to see the amazing London cast.
His face... "MMMM I KNOW!" dying
Everybody is so pissed about the audience, but as an actress this is the reaction that you crave it doesn't really matter what you laugh at I will love it and use the energy to fuel my performance!
True, as a performer you have to take whatever comes and use it to make your performance better. If they're giggly and silly, you can use that positivity to make your performance stronger. They did a great job of that here.
Oh my gosh I love the way he slides into his arms before the kiss. So adorable!
1. yes, it's annoying when this scene gets played for laughs but even I have to admit I laughed at the bit where Hanschen grabs the mic from Ernst
2. yes, this audience is freaking annoying, but the sound they make at the kiss honestly doesn't sound disgusted to me at all - I think it's like an "OHHH he went for it" kinda exclamation mixed with an "awwwww"
3. THIS HANSCHEN IS ACTUALLY SO GOOD, omg I love his acting and his voice ahhhh
I don't know. It sounded like people were making 'blech' noises if you listen closely. I thought the comments were exaggerating, but this crowd is really rude af.
A trick : watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching lots of of movies these days.
@Matthias Nickolas Yea, been using Flixzone for since november myself :)
Scorpius Malfoy and Albus Potter
Yes the audience is annoying, but I have to admit I LOST IT when the audience reacted to the kiss it was so funny (its amazing that these guys just kinda rolled with it, they're really good actors)
I love how Ernst just jumped into their second kiss! Love this scene so much!
This Hanchen is so funny but they're also both so endearing. It's a wonderful combition of funny and sweet.
Great scene through it was distracted by the noices made by the immature audience. Kudos to both actors for fine acting especially Harry who's a completely cutie.
the audience may have been obnoxious but that blonde guy just ate it up like 'fuck it! it's gonna be funny' bravo. no cares were given that day-
Jamie's performance is so underrated ugh imo he's one of the best Hanchens
It's so subtle, but I love the way Jamie tilts his head right after Harry says, "I imagine myself as a country pastor." You can practically see him thinking, "Excuse me?" So funny.
But can I just say though, what a great Hanchen!
Nadine Chui yes!
Unashamed to say I fist pumped when they kissed!
Wow! I've never seen someone who plays Hanschen as well as Jonathan B. Wright!
Check out Andy Mientus ad Hanschen! He's amazing!!!
I didn't even hear any disgust from the audience; just surprise. I wasn't offended by the audience.
That being said, no one should tolerate homophobia.
I was actually IN this audience, I was sitting in the first row of the balcony and I can't really recall people making those noises, maybe because I was far too into the show to notice, or maybe it was a certain little group more close to the camera person.
Not all the audience were horrible - and it got SO much applause and praise throughout, just a few ignorant people ruining great moments. :(
This is honestly the best thing I've ever seen. I bawled the entire way through it! x
Thank you so much for uploading this. This is my favorite scene from the show and this is also the best I've ever seen it done.
@LeoLaredoMusic I know, especially in London! I live in a very conservative area of the US and when the tour came here people were applauding during this scene!
I agree with you and it really is a shame. The laughter of immature girls who only go to see cute kids dancing and singing are heard. In Argentina just happened.
Beyond that, the cast of London is the best in my opinion.
I love Jamie Blackley, I think the original London cast were the best, really annoying how little time it ran for and even more annoying how little clips there are
-->I've heard worst audiences though and your video has amazing audio/quality so it's like the best thing EVER
Obnoxious audience, but these two are so cute and very talented! I still hate that the scene was played for laughs but this one had a sweeter element to it than most of the other ones. I really liked how they portrayed their individual characters, too.
This is the nicest version i have seen so far. I enjoyed it a lot. :D
They're actors. Believe it or not, kissing someone of the same sex isnt that difficult. In my alevel drama class the boys do it when required for scenes and stuff. If you pick a person for a role because of their sexuality, its whats known as discrimination.
ahh i didnt think the audience were tht bad untill jamie went in for the kill but i forgot how good he was at playing hanschen
But then saying that, they were a rude audience. No need to be that loud when people are trying to perform >.< I adore these two ^_^ The only noise coming from me would be happy squee-ing :D
I don't trust Hanschen. I've known guys like him who seek out shy, inexperienced types like Ernst who they can take advantage of. I think in the end Hanschen will just brush him off and get married so he can keep 'working with the system.'
Hello comment from 11 years ago 👋
They have really nice voices. Especially the guy playing Hanschen.
Amazing :)
So much love for both of them
thank you so much for this!! =D i've been looking for a video of them forever. wanted to re-live the memories. :P hehe. big shame about the audience some people are just. gah!!!!
Hänschen and Ernst: Tho-
Audience:😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I LOVE YOU FOR THIS! They're both so freaking good in this scene, which is definitely one of my fave… Somehow it manages to make me melt and make me laugh at the same time and I just go crazy x') I honestly thought there was not much about this cast and I'M SO HAPPY YOU POSTED THIS! *very late appreciation comment, lol* I know what you mean, sometimes you just feel like killing the people around you :S -->
the most obnoxious thing about this video is the heavy breathing.
NOW I CANT UNHEAR IT HAHAHAHHA
Jamie blackley is so underrated!
GET IT THERE, BOYS!!! 8D
LMAO
This makes me fucking angry that people reacted this way. It sounded like they were saying 'eww!', which quite frankly is unacceptable. It's 2013, hopefully by now people have grown up a little. Personally, I think this scene is beautiful.
:'( i miss it soo much!!
The best scene, and the cutest couple.
They rocked this. :)
i adore this scene! Jamie and Harr made this scene so funny but beautiful really captured the characters. shame its not on the west end anymore. :(
gosh i love jamie
Harr is such an angel
I...I need to see this play.
OH GOSH. I wish I was there. The people in this audience should be ashamed.
Regardless, the two did remarkably. Now that's professionalism
Could not stop smiling!
Hanchen is Adam in if I stay.... just thought I'd share that info.
great quality, great actors, great scene, great show.
awful audience.
thanks for this :)
thats the whole point of the play - to shock -and it obviiously worked
questo Ernst è cosi cucciolo *-*
Can anyone pinpoint Hanschen's accent? It's really annoying me because I know it, but it's just escaping me right now
(Sorry for late reply but) British. Sounds like a very rich London tone to me but idk lmao
Welch/Norwegian mixed with British
West London I’m guessing- there are literally hundreds of different accents in the UK, it differs even within cities, and you can travel for half an hour and get a new accent. The difference between an northern and southern English accent is huge- they use different words sometimes and make it very difficult for non-native English speakers to learn.
I don't see what was so bad about the audience. They 'aw'-ed when they kissed, meaning they thought that the hanschen and Ernst were cute together. How is this homophobic?
@idkwhyimadeaccounts Their reaction when they kiss is immature and old fashioned. And during their song. Not only is it rude to their performance, but it is disgusting proof that homophobia is still alive and well.
i love both of them. did anyone else think that hanschen looks a little like the guy who plays malfoy in the harry potter movies?
I love this scene and its a pitty about the audience,
I love how youve tagged it as gay boys lol!
Brilliant scene guys well done :)
@TheArtisticNuisance 'oh God!'
This show is a rock musical. I would much rather perform this scene for a giggling, loud audience, than one that just sat there and watched. It seemed to me that they just weren't expecting the kiss. Nobody said or did anything rude. Besides, this isn't a "moving" scene. Hanschen is a manipulative prick, and that's what's being demonstrated here. And, it's funny. People are supposed to laugh.
i agre mr funny gonzalez
they are not supposed to laugh at this. This is a serious song.
mae mae i love your profile pic :D
solo una cosa rende questa scena ancora più bella...l accento inglese *-*!!!
i just saw the show in sydney as it just opened in australia and i loved this scene
the people making disapproving noises need to grow up
Also, it may just be me but I didn't get 'disgusted' from their reaction, more like shock... but as I said, it may just be me and the fact I come from the same country as these people. *shrug*
What does Ernst say right before "Mmm, I know..." ?
"oh god"
jesus the audience is horrible....you'd think an audience going into spring awakening would know that it's a controversial show and at least be respectful, but this isn't even that bad! can't imagine what they were like during the sex or masturbation scenes....
The main cities, sure. As I said, I've only lived in areas everyone seems to forget about so... But I don't think it's old fashioned. I'm pretty sure if two guys from here made out in front of a load of people most of them wouldn't bat an eyelid. It's just that that never (or very rarely) seems to happen.
But they were pretty load through the rest of it. Yeah, I see your point lol
I actually don't know what you find wrong with the audience... Perhaps it would have sounded different if I'd been in the room, but I don't find them that bad. I'm gay, and I probably would have laughed when this audience laughed. The scene is just so awkward, and was written to be a comedic relief scene, so I don't see why they shouldn't laugh. It's not meant to be taken that seriously...
Anyone else kinda uncomfortable with how the gay romance elicits the most comedic reactions? Like everyone’s laughing at this really touching moment are is this the vice of the whole show version? I’m coming from the DWSA so idk but something I noticed
This scene occurs right in the middle of the musical's darkest moments, so it's generally played to lighten the mood a little. Some productions take it seriously though (like this and the Deaf West production).
I live in England. All I meant by the 'foreign concept' statement was that with us, homosexuality is kept fairly quiet, almost hidden. Granted, that may be because I've only lived in fairly "sheltered" areas of England... And I never said being English had any value anywhere. As far as I'm concerned, you can whatever nationality, people act obnoxiously no matter how they define themselves. It's just an awful lot of people commenting appear to be talking about English society as a whole (cont)
Why are the audience laughing? WTF??
but you have to admit that huge obnoxious laugh after "pussycat" was the worse.
I swear, I can hear a few people in the audience going "ew"! C'mon, really?!? Are they stuck in the third grade where kisses are gross and everyone has coodies?
wow, worst audience EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But the scene? AMAZING.
Honestly, I'm not getting a disgusted vibe, more of an OMG NOT EXPECTING THAT kind of sound. Especially on the second kiss. IDK.
uh, no, they're just acting.
(cont) And I just wanted to point out the possible reasons for a minority acting the way they seemed to in this bootleg. Anyone can act the same way no matter what nationality they are and that doesn't define a whole society.
wow.. what a disrespectful audience.
from one actor to another, bad audiences can ruin the experience of performing.
too bad.
Okay, I kinda feel like I'm gonna have to defend my country a bit here... In England, we're not as exposed to homosexual relationships as people are in America let's say. It's very rare you'll find two men walking down the street holding hands, let alone kissing. It's a concept which is almost foreign to us over here, which is why people in the audience may have reacted how they did - they just weren't expecting it.
love how you complain about natural and expected audience responses when you recorded an illegal video
ernst isn't attractive?! speak for yourself!
Wow, you guys are really bigoted. Honestly, you cry for tolerance, yet are completely intolerant of the "homophobics." It goes both way, people.
I, for one, don't see anything wrong with this audience.
*commence the flamers*
