Latika was a great guest, she is 💯 on point. NO disagreements with her at all. But the issue with the Oz-embassy here in Ukraine got me wound up regarding the Australian government not being "fair dinkum" (ask her what that means, not explaining it here). Let me give some context. I have Yugoslav ancestry,, grew up in Australia and am a permanent resident of Ukraine for a decade now. I retain an Australian passport and have to renew it every ten years. The last time I did that was at the embassy at Kyiv in 2021 (during co-vid). I was still living in Pokrovsk at that time, and on the 12 hour journey to Kyiv to pickup my new passport, I caught co-vid, because the embassy required a personal pickup, rather than sending in registered mail. Anyway, it really pisses me off to hear that the Aussie embassy in Kyiv is NOT re-opened. I will have to renew my passport again in 2031 & if there is no embassy in Kyiv I will have to go to Poland or w/e. Shame on them. But, finally to end on a good note, the department, DFAT, that Latika will be familiar with, were very good to me when the full scale invasion started. I registered as an Aussie expat in Ukraine (had already been here 8 years almost), and the DFAT people called me once a week to confirm my welfare. They offered my wife refugee status in Australia but we chose to politely decline. They did urge me to leave, but I explained my life and family are here in Ukraine and they rolled with it. But I am saddened that the embassy is not going to re-open here and they buried hardware they could have given us and sold off the rest. They are not being "fair dinkum"! Thanks to Latika, may she keep up the good work and keep the news honest back in Oz. 💛💙

She's really not. She's so openly biased towards the coalition and very openly anti-Labor. She's long boosted liberals, especially morons like Tony Abbott, and usually at times when they're spouting fringiest garbage from the deepest bowels of the internet. I'm no fan of the current ALP government-- they're weak, dithering and ineffectual, but she completely glosses over the **absolute** chaos and divisiveness that was Liberal/Coalition 'governance' since 2014. She *might* be a capable journalist on other subjects, but when it comes to OzPol, take her with a grain of salt the size of Gibraltar.

He is pissed of with NATO because he asked why he had not been invited to join soon after he took up presidency.
He was told NATO does not recruit members, they ask to join. And it has to go through the process.
He made it clear that considering the importance of Russia he expected to be taking into NATO on his own terms and not have to wait in a queue like all the minor countries.
Hence not invited and not officially applied to join.
As a previous podcast said, Putin sees himself as a too big a player to talk with countries he sees as insignificant.
He is unwillig to get around a table with Zelenskyy. He wants to hold talks ONLY with the big boys present, ie the USA, which he considers his equal.

Same with USSR attempting to seize Afghanistan. This is a battle of collective willpower. The lines on the map change VERY quickly when one side has to give up. Russia is being bled out both economically and militarily. Ukraine has the economic and military might of the West backing it. Nobody knows how this will end, but the map is a poor metric. Does the map show that russia no longer controls the black sea? Does it show all of the burning oil refineries and weapons depots that Ukraine has destroyed? Does the map show the dire state of russia's economy? It does not.

Ukrainian troops have left their positions near the village of Andreyevka in the Artyomovsk sector of the line of engagement in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), law enforcement officers told TASS.
"The enemy fled from near Andreyevka where it has long been holding positions, it has retreated," the officers said.
According to them, Ukrainian troops are currently making attempts to entrench behind the Seversky Donets-Donbass Canal.

Unfortunately regarding Australian armaments, the issue was largely one of budget. I understand the army had to fund all the details involved in fixing and shipping some very outdated helicopters to Ukraine. That would have impacted on their meagre budget as the government would not fund it. Hence the destruction of the helicopters instead. It’s great to see the impact negative publicity can have. Australians hate waste and authoritarians and support for Ukraine stays strong, so hopefully the government will come up with funding to ship over the tanks to Ukraine. A small price to pay for our future.
