Do you know if we can combine music and the LightShow folder on the same partition and or single drive? If not maybe we need 3 partitions. TeslaCam, LightShow, MP3/WAV music (also, maybe a 4th for BoomBox?)

Hi, Having trouble using Samsung T7 500GB for playing music. About 10% of the files play fine (these are all MP3). The rest of the files (MP3, MP4 and lossless) bring up a loading error note.
The formatting/preparation was done on my Apple MacBook Air using disk utilities to partition (music = 300 GB and data=199 GB) and ultimately dragging files from iTunes to the "Music" partitioned file. The file formats for the partitions are in MS DOS (fat 33).
I have tried restarting my Tesla. I have removed most of the 100 GB of music and left just a few files. I have checked to see if the issue is MP3 formats (while some of the MP3 files play music, most do not and it seems that the older the MP3 file the more likely it is to work/play).
I have not yet tried wiping the SSD and starting over. Any suggestions about what is causing the issue?

Hmmm... Shouldn't there be a separate folder for Music? For Music.

did exactly as described. The option to partition is not available and greyed out

I had this problem. Make sure you select, View and view all. From there select the main drive.

This was great (just what I was looking for), except my car doesn't see any of the partitions. I actually did three since you can now do multiple custom lightshows on one drive. So I made TESLA, MEDIA, and LIGHTSHOW partitions. I created the DashCam folder in TESLA, Boombox in MEDIA (but nothing in it yet), and the LightShow folder with files needed. My security cam says no USB, and Lightshow only lists the three that Tesla has provided. When I use a separate USB thumb drive, it works fine. All three partitions are MS-DOS (FAT) (as was my USB thumb drive with LightShow on it). What have I done wrong? I'm using a Samsung 1TB SSD and the TESLA partition has 497Gb, MEDIA has 439Gb, and Lightshow has 64Gb.

That's strange. There might have been a hiccup somewhere in the process. Since you don't have anything in any of the partitions, on your Tesla try the "format USB" option under settings and security. That should get your sentry and dash cam working. Then take it to a computer and see what it did. That option should not format the whole devices partitions back and might get it to work.

For someone with limited skills, this was way too fast. Why do you need to partition? At the end where were you transferring music from? Very confusing.

A partition is only needed if you want your music and sentry on the same USB drive. Are you trying to have music or setup sentry ?

What if we want just Sensory mode and light show? Do you still need to partition?

lousy instructions, unfortunately. Too fast and incomplete

Thanks for the feedback. I was trying to make it a quick tip but I understand I’ll need more time to thoroughly explain the process
