  • In this writing vlog I addressed a huge problem with my camp nanowrimo so far: I wasn't getting rest! And fixing that problem this week was an amazing and surprising journey!!
The writing vlog includes writing from all 6 days of camp nanowrimo week 3, experiments with resting and self-care, and observations about my story as I write past the midpoint and toward the third act. It was one of the most productive weeks of writing I've ever had!
What do you think of this writing vlog? Are you doing camp nanowrimo? How did your third week of camp nanowrimo go? let me know in the comments below and I'll get back to you 🙂

I like hearing a relaxing music while I write and it helps me fill my pages!

Sometimes I like relaxing music too! Other times I like energetic music or soundtrack music 🔥

I'm currently writing the first draft of my own novel (on the last week of camp 😂). This is exactly what I needed.

I'm happy you're finding it helpful! I'm planning on doing a live writing sprint stream on Saturday, Sunday, or both (still need to decide lol), but just wanted to mention since people seem to find them helpful too :)

Puzzles. I love puzzles and pandas. 😂😂😂 I finished the one I dropped 2 weeks ago. So, I'm just browsing youtube for panda videos.
You're right. Relax and rest in between writing. It worked for me last week after my 'I'm dropping it drama,' two weeks ago.😂

Haha I ended up really enjoying the puzzle, especially because it's just distracting enough that I can maintain audiobook focus😂
I'm happy resting helped you!! Rest makes life a lot more enjoyable, even intense times of work 🙂

Multitasking. I'm usually watching a movie while solving it. 😅

Try a smaller puzzle. I like 350 piece ones.

I ended up falling in love with it later in the week haha, it was just overwhelming when in a very stressed state! I just got some 500 peice ones that I'm enjoying 🙂 never tried a 350 though 🤔

Could you maybe also start mentioning the word count? It would just give me a better picture and it always motivates me. Love your Videos!

This is a tough one for me...
During the "writing like Leigh Bardugo" video, I tried writing without the word count and it made me realize that I used to obsessively check word counts as I wrote. Since then, I've left them hidden in word and have found I don't have this same obsessive problem with pages alone. For this reason I don't really like paying attention to the word count anymore.
One thing I may be able to do is turn it on at the end of the day and show the changes in word count day by day. But it would be dependent on me actually remembering to reenable the word count.
Another choice would be to create a little stats page in editing for the end of each day which could include word count among other things.
Let me know what you think of these options! Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching :)

@@john_writing_ Totally understand. Now that you mention it, I remember you saying that. Would be cool to have some stats but that's just me, I'm a freak for statistics. But if it's just me who's asking, I don't think it'll be worth the effort. I'll still love your videos!
