    One thing I have found to be exponentially helpful is to color code in my notebook by common topics. I have a very small margin on the left that I put a colored dot next to each paragraph or page. I have things like mental health, hobbies, relationships, work, etc. It has been really nice to be able to flip through and see how frequently I'm writing about certain things. It also makes it easier to find things that I might be looking to remember.

    I've never been without a little notebook over the last 30 years. It seems the Internet age is, ironically, bringing people back to or introducing them to, the most basic concept - carrying a notebook. It really works. 😊

    I use a pocket notebook all of the time when I'm out or away from my studio, but I then have a system of transferring the important stuff into the relevant journals I have when I get home. This stops me forgetting to do things & helps me find things categorised at a later date otherwise I just end up in a mess

    Brilliant! I’ve got sooo many empty or semi filled large notebooks I despair of ever filling, this vid is a perfect solution! 🙏😊

    Great video. As a life-long stationery lover I have a stack of half-filled, and too-pretty-to-use notebooks, but 40 days ago I decided to keep a pocket notebook as my everything book. I journal in it, keep to do lists, write down quotes, or things I want to work out (lots of pros and cons lists, and flow charts). I finally decided on doing this because I had a box of mini composition notebooks much like yours that needed a purpose, and after watching GareTheBear's videos I knew that would be it. I filled my first one in 24 days, and am halfway through my second. I 'upgraded' the experience by getting a leather cover for them on Etsy, and a 4 colour gel pen. Loving the experience, and can see myself keeping up this little habit. Now off to check out the rest of your videos, and the TH-camr you suggested.

      I am dying to know what a 4 color gel pen is...
      (I likewise have many "too pretty to write into" notebooks... maybe the magical pen is the solution.)

      @@heavenshell83 the 4 color gel pen is probably one of those ones where there are four clickers at the top and each one deploys a different color pen tip into the business end of the pen tube containing all 4 colors... so with the one barrel pen you can seamlessly and quickly go from one color to another.

    I keep a a couple notebook bind together into a leather cover, and one thing that helps me in the long run is if possible, every weekly or bi-weekly, take the time to type all of the things into any digital place of your choice. Mine is obsidian. It'll help with the searchability.

    This might be a bit pricey but paper republic makes great leather pocket journals. I love how I can customize my pocket journal with multiple pocket notebooks and organize them the way I want

    Those tiny composition books are good because they are usually held together with string. This allows you to open them pretty flat but without the bulk of a wire spiral...
    I definitely agree with having paper/a notebook at all times and smol bois are the handiest for that! THAT SAID i am v guilty of just having random scraps everywhere with little notes to self or titles or concepts. I generally keep these in a larger notebook that has a pocket or I throw them into a page protector with 3 ring holes and keep it in a binder.
    Sometimes i feel panicky that no way will i ever make full use of the many things I have thought and written. Then I go wait, it's like taking notes in school. You don't hang onto the notes forever, but they are there to help you sort out your thinking at the time! Also that nobody ever left the Earth with all their stuff completed. Even ppl who completed a lot of stuff!
    Thanks for your video! Will check out more of yours!

    I used pocket notebooks for over thirty one years as a power system electrician. I started this long before cell phones.

    That is a good idea! A catch-all book! I have a small notebook but I don't think it's a good one for carrying along since it had a lock lol! I don't know what to write in it. Anyway, what do you do once you finish a notebook? Do you recycle it or keep it? I don't know if I should keep mine since I already have so much clutter. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @nicholasbelliveau
      @nicholasbelliveau  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@brenda5297 I say keep it ! I try to be minimalistic, but these notes gain value in time. I can only imagine having this for my future children or grandchildren to go through and read, and how cool that could be.

      @@nicholasbelliveaualso once you have filled the physical notebooks you can always scan or photograph the pages to save and digitize/organize the contents. Then you can cut up the actual pages however you like. You can cut out phrases or sentences or little drawings/doodles and use those to create collages or scrapbooks along with photos or other ephemera from either that time in your life or related to the dedicated subject of that notebook...
