    Coconut oil actually makes bleached hair brittle. I was so damn confused why my hair was breaking after using coconut oil and when I spoke to my hairdresser it's because it weakens it. Good on dark hair though.

    • @nikolagacek2348
      @nikolagacek2348 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Sebell no worries! Its actually because coconut oil is very heavy. Since bleached hair is already weakened by the whole chemical process applying something that weighs down in it causes it to snap from the pressure. I use almond oil which is great, and you can add some honey and eggs into it too :)

    • @mummamea19
      @mummamea19 6 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      I left coconut oil on my bleached hair for 48 hours and WOW it was my softest hair ever !

      I was finding the same thing, until i finally went to a hairdresser when it got so bad and broken so short, and she told me it was bad for my hair and i was double processing it because it pulled the bleach onto the already bleached parts. its taken a year for it to grown to a reasonable length! Avoid coconut oil before bleaching.

    The kind of bleach definitely makes all the difference. Of course the better, more high end/ expensive products will work better and be better for your hair than some couple dollar package of bleach. The best bleach and developer in the world is blonde me, both bleach and developer together seriously protect your hair while the bleach has bonding agents in it to help prevent hair breakage. Definitely look into it. I know I'm behind on the video but whatever 😂

    Do not use coconut oil on bleached hair and damaged hair in general. Damaged hair is protein sensitive, and coconut hair mimics the effects of protein on the hair. Coconut oil hair is good on virgin undamaged hair only.

    The difference between the different developers-10% to 40% - is actually the TIME of development . 40% much faster than 10%. So if left on longer 40% WILL cause more damage than say 20% left on for the same amount of time . And if you get the coconut oil on virgin hair 8t will prevent colour removal

    I know this an older video but Hello my dear Crystal Lindy , I was curious if you used coconut oil before bleaching? If not have you in the past and how well did it work?

    Make sure whatever plastic bag you use is clear or the ink will come off on your hair😊

    Oh my god. This tutorial will be a life saver I can already tell. I have half blue hair so will need to bleach my roots at home with salons remaining closed under lockdown. This method looks virtually identical to the one my hairdresser uses though 🙌

      @@cjgroom109 Follow this tutorial exactly but get someone you trust to apply the bleach for you and you should be fine. Neither me or my mum had ever bleached hair before, let alone just the roots so I was surprised how perfect the end result was. Looked exactly the same as it did in the salon 👍 fast forward 6 months and I box dyed the whole lot back to black again though 🤣

    You don’t have to leave it on forty minutes. Once the hair is lifted, rinse it off. With new root growth it should happen FAST

    Roots could still use another bleaching maybe a bleach wash to lighten just a bit more. They are re still pretty yellow.
