- Most of my spinning is done with a long draw technique to produce a fluffy, woolen yarn. I really love this technique and the yarn that results from it. In this video we explore how fiber preparation, carding into rolls compared to splitting a mill-prepared top, might affect the spinning process and finished yarn. I share a few of my fiber preparation tools, including some antique hand cards, and I also give a quick update on a couple of recently finished projects. Bras! If you are thinking about making your own bras at all, definitely check out the links below for some amazing kits!

Hi, Becca! The yarn at the beginning is gorgeous! The linen top, ALSO gorgeous! I have only spun with drop spindles, and then have only tried a couple-few different fibers. And I couldn't afford hand cards so I use two 52 tpi dog brushes as my cards. If I have combed top, I don't card. I split them like you do. I only use the cards to blend colors or different fibers together. I liked the format! I also really liked the background music. Well done!!! Hugs
Hi, LadyValkyri! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I'm glad you liked the video. I also started with dog brushes as my hand cards before I found the antique ones. The antiques were actually much less expensive than the new ones, which surprised me. But I found that the dog brushes work well, too! The rolls just aren't quite as big. Hugs to you, friend!
You tie the skein with the end of the yarn in the EXACT same way as I do :D
It's so satisfying, isn't it!
