This is easily top 5 favorite games. I love it so much and yet I’ve only beaten the game as specter knight!

Indeed, he's both at the top and bottom of the medieval hierarchy.😂
The funny thing is in the manual if you have the Wii U version, or some other, it lists the cast’s pros and cons, and he has some good pros with his only con being that he is not a real king.
Shovel Knight is a classic. Still gonna look and play great in the decades to come.

I have a old copy and i put it away in my “future box” kind of like a nostalgic version of a time capsule that I can get out every so often like 3 years apart, I have a few other classic games in there like the original 3 Mario games, the first two Banjo kazooie games and a few other stuff.

Have played all 4 campaigns and unlocked all characters in Showdown, I got so much respect towards Yacht club games and can't wait Shovel Dig and Cyper shadow.
Remember that Cyber Shadow is only published, not developed, by Yacht Club. It still looks like it's going to be awesome.

This video just reminded me of how outstanding SK sounds. Shovel Knight is unmatched in the realm of modern-day chiptune music. It remains one of the very best video game OSTs of the 2010s.

Got Shovel Knight in the 3DS eshop when only the base game was out. That was almost an investment, never knew I'd get this much game out of just €20

The issue that I had with King of Cards has nothing to do with the game itself, which was fantastic. The issue I have is that it doesn't feel like a satisfying ending for the story arc. Shovel Knight was the breakout success with surprising depth for a 2D platformer. Plague of Shadows took it to a new level, revealing that these guys aren't just minibosses, there's real lore as to how they got here. Specter of Torment blew it wide open, revealing the depth of pathos and tragedy that these people went through. Then, King of Cards felt like some welcome comic relief, a breather before what should have been the spectacular grand finale. Which we aren't getting? Just leaving the Black Knight hanging there? His story, as well as Polar Knight's, is heavily teased but unfinished. There's one final chapter left to tell.
Well, there's still more Shovel Knight games to come like Dig. Maybe we'll see their story finally told in another game.
Imagine Black Knight's story told through a 3D open-world action RPG.

I have it on my 3ds and the 3d effect is really good. The cutscenes are really cool with the layers, too. I also love the magic of that game. My favorite Knight to play as is still the shovel knight.

I love Yacht Club. The only problem I have with Shovel Knight is that showdown isn't on 3ds, but that's just encouragement to get a switch
They didn't explain how they make money from this insane amount of free content though. I've never understood.
The price for the treasure trove went up based on the content what was added
Shovel Knight has been for sale since 2013. Besides the price going up over time, don't forget they got a kickstarter campaign, where they grossed $ 311.000, where all the updates were presented as stretch goals. That might not be much, especially when comparing to the Wonderful 101 kickstarter, but it certainly helped them for a few months. Of course those who purchased the game close to 2013 with a lower price got the better deal with free updates.

@@churchill903 The one case where I wishlisted a game to wait for a sale, and ended up having to pay more when the price later went up. I had to applaud them, this time I was the one who got played.
I'm just waiting for the Propeller Knight dating sim "Propeller of Love." Or the level editor mode "Tinker of Worlds."
I'd would be interesting to see a documentary made about Larian Studios, Divinity Original Sin II, and the upcoming Baldurs Gate.
One thing I like is although they all use their own certain type of story theme like romance, heroism, drama, and comedy, they all lean into each other’s styles of story when they need to emphasize certain story themes, meaning they all still feel like the same level of story telling, while still feeling unique.

Really respect Yacht Club for the Shovel Knight series and the variety of mechanics and systems they've implemented in each game, even tho I only liked Specter of Torment lol. But it's cool to see them expanding even more into other genres while sticking w/ the Shovel Knight IP!
I love having the Wii U version, because it comes with a manual giving descriptions to each of the character’s pros and cons, and I have to say they are still accurate even with these new campaigns that came out later, and I love how even Plague of shadows where you have no unique stage levels, makes the most of it by having Plague Knight use methods the others could never utilize, while stage gimmicks become less designed around Plague Knight emphasize how his story is more in the shadow of the other knights, meanwhile King is more or less misadventures, while Specter is more or less a dramatic and epic journey of torment, all emphasized by their level layout.
David just serving fantastic reference after fantastic reference... Megaman, Zelda II, FFVIII, Magic: The Gathering... how can I not play this?

The Play Station Vita is what I play Shovel Knight on, Wish I could get it on my Nintendo Switch because it has a bigger screen because I can barely see out of one of my eyes and I had Surgery for my eyes which gave me glasses so It kinda sucks to play on suck a small screen, But I'm glad I can actually play the game! It's very Entertaining and I love how your always doing something, I've beat the game twice already and I've only just gotten back into! I remember playing it in 2016 along with Terraria and Pokemon Pearl!
It's crazy how much content is in this game! I had no idea. Definitely gonna be checking this out.

Super excited for whatever yacht club is working on next, they've very quickly become one of my favourite teams. If they can do what they did with a 2d platformer to a 3d platformer, I will be a very happy boy.

Hey developers of the game I am currently on my way to 100% all the achievements from Shovel knight and I just want to some things that made me piss blood with frustration. When trying to get the Naked King achievement the fight against the Enchantress was so stupid and maddening, her bullshit of going under the unbreakable blocks almost made me lose my fucking mind. Despite that, the King of Cards DLC was the most enjoyable out of all other DLC. The only problems with the whole four DLCs is that they make Shovel Knight feel like the most boring one of all the playable characters by default, honestly, all the other charters give so much more enjoyable moves sets compared to him. Two more things that I have to complain about the fucking bottomless pits and the fucking spikes need to die, the whole instant death bullshit was not fun for me. And finally, the showdown mirror boss fight with gems collection and fucking continues if you fail was so fucking stupid, whoever thought that was a fucking sadist. Despite all my complaints I still like all the campaigns in the game, the world, and the characters that live in it. Best of luck on your next project and I hope you die in a fire.

I usually like the Noclip documentaries, and I played and enjoyed the Shovel Knight games, too. But the way this video was presented to me felt more like an ad than a documentary or interview, and I didn't enjoy it. The video even ends by showing you the gazillion places where you can buy the game, which is fine in trailers and ads, but feels out of place in a doc.
It's 12 minutes long........that's not a documentary.

Hey! I played it on PS Vita :)
I cant bring myself to enjoy this game much. Don't get me wrong. Most games I play are Retro in nature such as Axiom Verge and Wargroove. There is just something about SK that makes me feel overly bored. I think every game I have for switch is Pixel art except BOTW and maybe one other that I can't recall at the moment. I wish I could like this game more than I do but I put it down after 20 minutes because it doesn't hold my attention much. I know how important this game is to the indie and retro scene, most of the games I do love these days wouldn't be here without this game.
