Great discussion, but geez, the baby crying...it was hard to take. It's life; still, would be nice to have it edited out, if possible.

Listening to this... I just felt rage. I'm a 65 year old black man who grew up in the church... the "Black Church" and the White Church... where I attended school. The theology of the AMERICAN Church is basically post-Civil War theology that deifies white supremacy and enforces a Logos of Traditional- Fundamentalism that is at the root of so much of culture's psychological repression.
THE TWO MAIN CAUSES OF MENTAL (neurosis) ILLNESS:
    1. Repression
    2. "The Lie" ... anything in a person's shadow or conscious desires that they feel they can't admit to self, others or integrate into their daily life.
Women are the Gatekeepers of culture.
Audre Lorde, writer, feminist, womanist, librarian, and civil rights activist, once said that even the most progressive black women becomes the enemy when the issue of homosexuality is raised.
The insanity of it all.... racism, misogyny, sexism, materialistic classism, and homophobia ALL come from the same place. Yes, historically, African Americans have used the church as a shield against the dehumanizing trauma of racism ... but because Christianity puts so much emphasis on "The Light" (... being like Jesus...) and not our "Darkness" (... what's interpreted as "Satan"), the result is that people are left living very shallow, conflicted lives. worse still is how we're trained to project our shame and darkness out onto others and divide ourselves, and thus weaken our community and individuals within our community. Great for the slave masters, bad for the slaves.
"These things are allegory..." Galatians 4:24
If you teach that 2,000 year old text LITERALLY, you're forcing the psyche backwards into The Age of Magic consciousness. Unfortunately, WOMEN ... as Gatekeepers, are the most reluctant to open up a wider view of how to make our daily lives sacred TODAY.... because they know how to manipulate Traditional men by using the "Old Fashion Religion" ... and it's killing us.

All this sounds like Heresy and Paganism. Is or is not the Bible the inerrant word of God? All else is subjective and can be altered anyway to fit any narrative and agenda. God is immutable, not us.

Just because one is academically verbose does not make that person coherent. or intelligible. If there is a womanist perspective, then is there a manist perspective? How is theology womanist or manist? Theology needs to be unifying, not divisive. Otherwise, it damages the future of civilization.

you clearly miss the point as even in creation, there is opportunity to celebrate diversity. Womanist theology is necessary simply because of the historicity of white supremacy that has always oppressed black women - flesh and otherness as pejorative (this is also perpetuated amid black men and white women). Your argument is weak and clearly you have missed the simple fact that womanist theology is not a defined term based on gender. pick up a few books if this talk is too much, but then again your reproach against womanist work is blaring and clear.

Womanist is third waive feminism. . .What liberals like these Collegues call functional theology, conservatives call, "practical" theology.

I disagree. Her point is spot on. Unfortunately you are viewing Christianity in a vacuum because you've clearly limited yourself to a western view of faith and salvation. Based on your presuppositions, Christianity only applies to American culture because your view point doesn't transcend to the world, only black and white slave predecessors and descendants. Your view is very heretic and radical. God is immutable, not us.
