Guys, it's 5th April 2024, and I'm just tired of myself, of not pushing myself hard enough to go to the place where I need to be. So, from today onwards, I will dedicate myself for 6 months just for improving myself. I have 2 main goals. The first one is getting all As with a good rank for my A-Levels. And the second goal is to lose weight. The third goal is to master time management. So, please like this comment to remind me of my goal throughout these 6 months. And anyone who reads this message, you can do it. You just have to believe in yourself. Everything will be alright.

I'm in my 6months of changing too! I worked a job I do not like, I gain so much weight and I had health issues. So I quit my job and focus on myself. I go for a run 2 days per week, yoga class and dancing class. I eat better, sleep better, and lose a lot of weight. I’m starting to build my dream career too! Hope at the end of the year, everything will fall into place.

6 months later, and I can say this challenge really challenged my way of thinking and the way I will approach my goals from now on. I no longer approach goals from the external angle and started working from within, testing different systems and routines until they work seamlessly.

You don’t have to do “extra” to be extraordinarily…
This mentality can put you into “do more” “hustle culture” “work hard, play hard”. It’s always a go time… and people never Rest, think, and relax.
But if you know your goal.. and understand your daily task.. and stop trying to do 20 different things.. and try to do one thing … over long periods of time, you can be the master of the domain
People who is a master at xx typically do that thing day after day, without getting bored or distracted.
If you practiced 2 hour piano from age 10~ 20… you will be good at piano.
Instead of try to do “extra” to become extraordinary…
Try do small repeatable habit.. casually over long periods of time .. to be become extraordinarily
      Read atomic habits.
If you have to be “extra” ( overloading, overclocking) to be extraordinarily….. if stop try to be “extra” and just want to do “normal” effort.. so will the result will go away.
Don’t build a system where overloading is a requirement of the system.
Build a plan where 50% effort produce extraordinary outcome.

    * Don't let fear keep you in the same place: "push past the fears" "you have to keep going" (what if I don't fulfill my goals? - refuse to let fear keep me in the same place)
    * make systems that work for you (vs. pressing the try harder button), ask yourself: how can I make this work for me?
    * be so good they can't ignore you (what does it mean to be "so good"): to become so good you must welcome discomfort to do extra/more to be extraordinary --> take action first (planning is procrastinating here unlike with systems)
    * tolerant with others, strict with self attitude
    * ask: how can I benefit this moment? (how to make situations better for yourself and others around you) --> think before feel through practicing non-reacting, ask if this feeling is serving someone

  • @eek8903
    @eek8903 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +48

    My takeaways:
    1) Don’t let fear keep you in the same place. Use it to fuel you and keep going!
    2) Level up your values and actions first. You need to change your systems to make things work for you.
    3) Be so good that they can’t ignore you. Welcome discomfort and be extraordinary.
    4) Tolerant with others, strict with self. Share grace with others, but don’t make excuses for yourself.
    5) How can you benefit the moment? Learn to not be so reactive but instead to be kind to others.
    6) Do the internal work and show up for yourself every day.
Take it one day at a time. You got this.

I applaud you for your hard work, I personally do not believe in being hard on myself anymore. I need to be as compassionate with myself as with anyone else, while holding myself accounatble, and adharing to my own standards. At least this is what seems to help me better myself in the long run, I found as a 37 year old woman.

I realised the same thing here. Once I turned 30 I understood I do not grow in the areas I wish if I'm not compassionate about myself enough. Compassionate, not self-pitiful. And I have noticed that I wasn't the only one who didn't benefit from this, friends too. Also, being hard on myself developed a habit of negative thinking. Now we're on the way to undoing the work 😅 with self-compassion and reframing thinking.

Recently I had a journal prompt that said. "Do you keep promises to others? If so, do you keep promises to yourself? If not, why?"...it made my head explode. I NEVER break a promise to others. NEVER. Why do I break my own promises? I suffer from food addiction. I've been addicted to sugar my whole life and have never been able to give it up. After reading that prompt, I've changed my life. I've been sugar free for 35 days and joined a 12 step program. Food addicts in recovery anonymous. Everyone is capable of changing their life. I hope your video inspires others too. It's not everyday you see a content creator who show up so vulnerable and share their growth process. Very beautiful & inspiring to see your journey. Thank you so much for sharing I know it will help many. Especially the way you put working on systems a priority instead of working harder. That is a concept not many even know about so they spin their wheels and don't achieve, & become frustrated and give up. Which in turn creates a whole other set of issues. Thank you very well put!!! ❤

Do you ever ask yourself why you need to be "so good they can't ignore you"? Why you need to lose weight? Why you need to wake up at 6am? Why you have to be this "best version of yourself"?
You are a human being, not a machine that needs to be made more efficient.
I wonder if with this mindset you will ever be content with the way you are. And as long as you are so focused on yourself, will you ever make true connections with people?
I used to get sucked into these self-improvement narratives and they were really dangerous for me. Working hard to achieve something you are passionate about is one thing but treating yourself as an eternal project that always needs improvement can be very harmful.
I just want to say that the way you are right now, you are already perfect, and worthy of love.

Beautiful video. I'm 3 months in and on shakey ground... but you have just inspired me to keep on going. I especially love what you said about how we never get what we ask for as we expect it, but instead are given opportunities to grow into it... for example; I've dealt with a lot of self doubt... but instead of it just going away when i tried to get rid of it... i got into situations that caused me to doubt myself even more... honestly that has made me sooo much stronger though... learning to opperate in the chaos is hard... but so worth it... appreciate you🙂

"planning is just another productive procrastination tactic" so true! sometimes we just tend to go ham with the to-do lists and habit trackers but then they end up staying in our phone. we must shift our mindsets. good one liz.

thank you, this is truly so inspiring and exactly what i needed. i was tired of seeing all those vids being like “just wash your face every morning, exercise every day, and keep a healthy diet and u will have the biggest glow up ever!” bc let’s be honest, that is really no use. this video helped me realize many things that i had over looked before, especially bc a lot of what ur describing that u struggled w before, i’m currently dealing with. i have anxiety, ocd, adhd, insomnia, and some other things that can make everyday life a bit more challenging. but slowly i will attempt to overcome the struggles. i rlly appretiate this so thank u for sharing ur journey and what u learned along the way. i’m gonna go and try to become the best version of myself 😊

I really enjoy listening to your experience. I have been going outside of my comfort zone and CREATING my life for what I want. I appreciate the fact that we can learn new things and chose pathways that we desire. It is hard to understand or grasp the feeling of what is waiting for us down the path that we have chosen. It is SO worth it!!

Over the last several weeks I’ve been trying to improve myself & push myself to achieve the goals I’ve had for years. Your video is by far the most real and inspirational one I’ve seen. I appreciate how honest you are about how hard it is to face your fears, and also not get wrapped up in planning; and instead take action. Thank u for the awesome video!

I have to share this, I've seen more 'help yourself' video's than hair folicals I used to have 🥴 and this one, 'your's' is the most value per word explanitory I've ever witnessed. Not only do I admire your sharing of this but how you put it into totally absorbable chunks too. Thank you & may you continue to flourish. 👌

This is really inspiring to see how one could change. Sometimes you need to be determined to stick to the new changes. I have tried to adapt with these new changes few times. But every time after 3/4 weeks I would lose my interest and return back to the procrastinated life. I often blamed my environment for not having enough room for improvement.
After seeing the video, the first thing came to my mind, is I have to stick to the process, force myself to hold onto the habits that I want in myself.
Let's see if I can do this again, for 6 months continuously.
Thanks for the content. Best wishes for you Elizabeth!!

I just wanted to say that you are super gorgeous! I also relate to your assiduous attitude, I didn't know there was a word for it and I didn't really see it as a positive before your video. I always thought of it as why can't I be nicer to myself because everyone tells you to be nicer to yourself, but I'm coming to terms with the fact that sometimes my anxiety that I put on myself motivates me ❤‍🔥

I don’t know why I found this video, but I did! Last month, I told my sister that I don’t have a Plan B for my backlogs and this is my final shot at clearing them. It took me a month to get some clarity on that statement but here I am!
I loved how you explained your lessons and thoughts and how at ease and confident you seemed at the end of the video! You have inspired me today and I will focus on facing my own fears as well!

I love this! I’m on my own journey to stop living in mediocrity and it’s hard sometimes. I work part time and study full time so sometimes I just want to go to my bed and watch netflix instead of taking control of my life. Something that really gives me motivation is knowing that other people have more on their plate than I do and they can achieve their goals so why cant I.

That first one hit home. Fear has held me back from so much but because of where it came from I haven’t been able to feel like I can distance myself until now. And now I am standing up for myself even through the pain. My fear was real but when my time comes I’ll remember and be grateful for what I did and not the pain I suffered from the actions of the person who instilled fear in my life.
