Thanks for the video. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and the witty banter throughout. Other reviews of the 55 inch Samsung Odyssey Ark come off as hateful out the gate, or whiny because they have to swivel their head to see that 55 inch real estate. You actually have a genuine love for it, and a positive opinion at that... so thanks for the review.
Well guess you missed the unboxing of this 2 years ago when it first came out at 4 grand. Now it's under 2 grand, so waiting pays off when it comes to electronics, eh?
@2TrainWakefield It took that long for enough interest to build before I bothered checking. I wouldn't buy one though, in a couple of years, they will be selling on eBay for as much as a VCR or 8 TRACK players do. 🤔
The way you make your videos is just so enjoyeable to watch hopefully i can get this or maybe ill just wait and see if theres an upgraded version lol thanks for the vid!
Huge thanks for this great review. Could I ask how is text on this monitor ie in word, mac mail etc considering the low ppi due to massive display and it only being 4k. I would have thought a screen this big would be unreal in 8k + oled.
I've been fighting for my life to NOT purchase this thing for $2000. I've held out so far. But the idea of using it as a TV and monitor combo instead of purchasing a TV is having me hold onto the dream
I will say that for some gaming I can't go full screen. Lol. But for others it's beyond incredible. As far as a TV goes it's a fantastic device. I have to say I'm thoroughly enjoying this
@@tech-Nic would it be more reasonable to say that using it as a primary TV/Netflix device (full screen) with an occasional smaller PC browser/gaming on the side is the better arrangement? I too don't see a lot of games that I'll be able to play at 55" for long durations but using a 24" picture and Picture monitor for Internet browsing with a larger video playing in the background is what's drawing my desire to buy it. Justification of buying a 2k TV if I don't get much gaming use out of it is freaking me out tbh
I think it's fair to say it's multimedia first with this one. Gaming comes in as a secondary offering. Now some gaming experiences are amazing on this thing (AOE for example). I also have found some success at turning the screen vertical and gaming that way with the screen split into thirds. It essentially let's me watch youtube/netflix on the same screen while I game. I don't use the PIP much but I can see it being a big draw for some people for sure. I do think you're right in stating this is probably a statement piece and television and secondarily for gaming. But it is awesome!!!
@@tech-Nic thanks for the replies! You've earned my sub, hoping for some lessons learned, and/or some "tips and tricks" after you get a couple months with the monitor under your belt!

@@cwilsonsr7263 I am enjoying this screen. I could easily complain about only being able to have one HDMI active at any given point but if you go into this aware of that it's not a game ender. Performance and appearance are just fine. Is it the absolute best monitor out there? No...but for most gaming and viewing that people are doing this thing is more than capable.
Just scored one myself last weekend, Gen 1 model like yours but I only paid $475 cash and a $531 newegg gift card for it, new in box even. All in the monitor is 89.8LBS. the mount is solid wood and the bottom mount plate is solid steel.
I purchased this monitor for $1400 US with white glove service from Samsung. I used all my Samsung Points and employee offers program. The one thing I am disappointed in, is the lack of a Display port. Which I heard they are incorperating into their next generation. Just be aware that a high end HDMI 2.1 cable is needed to push the 4K gaming, to it's full potential.
Got mine aweek ago and I'm not impressed on the fact that I am not able to have netflix app running in split screen while the PC is on the other side in split screen mode .. though they give you the option to run samsung TV app🤔 confused 😕
This is clearly the best review of how to install this. I bought the Ark 2nd gen direct from Samsung. Their shipper cracked it in two places in the middle having laid it down on it's side during shipping. I noticed your box had red tape marking. Mine did not. I asked Samsung to please mark the box with large arrows up during the return process. They may be marking them in the future. Right now, I will hold off on this model, until they can ship them properly. May I ask, how clear is this for doing production work rather than gaming? Is it dense pixels and without any glitches? Thank you much for doing this video! New Sub.
Samsung Odyssey Ark 2023 just got announced a few months ago. It basically fixes the main complaint with PiP have the ability now to use four different sources.
Hi. Enjoyed the show. I'm interested in this for work. Lots of windows open. Your son said he'd expected to love it for his spreadsheets. So the Q is... Did he? Does it work for multiple spreadsheets and other work windows or do you need to make the text so big that you don't gain the real estate you think you should get?
This thing is fantastic! It's essentially three monitors in one as far as size goes. Can be very productive with multiple things open at once. I am ashamed at how much I've enjoyed this thing.
Can you reuse the box after cutting those plastic straps? I'm moving soon..but I need to use the monitor for work now.. but when I move would like to reuse the box to move the monitor..
Yes, if you keep the box in good shape you could use it to move this unit later. The styrofoam packing coupled with the box would make the best option for moving this monitor.
@@keno6391 you'll want to use a decent amount of packing tape to hold the box seams together. I would still have my hands with one under the box and the other hand in the handle. Make sure you're moving this with no fewer than two people. It's awkwardly shaped and balanced when moving.
Does the low ppi really ruin gaming with a ps5? I want to be able to use for video editing and gaming. I currently purchased the lg45 oled ultra gear and the quality for gaming is meh
Would the Arc be better purchase to get compare to the S95c 55 for the same price? Primary use pc gaming. Great video - sub earned…………. Yo give this man more SUBS!
Can you push it far down and tilt it a bit upwards while in vertical mode? Im planning on using that vertically with 3 screens and i imagine looking up for the third screen for hours would destroy my neck.
For some reason I thought I'd do it all on my own, dam near crippled myself. On top of that have the instructions were fizzed out (water damage or something?) Was well worth I'm a big game but I would have preferred if I could lower the height of the screen
I've owned one for 1 yr and half now, Unfortunately mine has ceased working, and has had to go in for repairs, No power showing to the monitor. Sockets (fine) new power and one connect cable, and a new powerboard for the One connect still nothing, Samsung Repair think the Screen has gone. Whilst I've throroughly enjoyed the monitor, I wasn't expecting such an expensive monitor to only last 1 and half years. Whilst the Sound system on the Monitor is really good, I have noticed that once every 1-2hours you get a sound drop for just a milisecond. Once you notice it, you can't not pick up on it when it happens, especially if you are watching something and it hits right when someone is talking, and have to rewind back. Great piece of kit when its working, but again another overly expensive product i've bought that has issues a normal to midrange product doesn't have. Word of warning these things are much bigger than they look, due to the stand and curve, they take up about as much space as an old CRT. Even when you have the space, realistically you need more space.
its seems like a one man job to set it up(hopefully cos mine is coming tomorrow and i dont have anyone :~() and I spent exactly the same price 2000dollors. My big worry is if my desk can hold this monster. It is 40kg heavy, its like a skinny woman standing on the desk. Hope my beautiful desk wont collapse
