The casting, directing, acting, and dialog are superb. Eli Wallach is sensational as Tuco. If I recall correctly, Eli Wallach was not the first option for the role. He just happened to be Europe at the time.
He was great with Gable and Monroe and Clift in "The Misfits" too (1960).
