I love the EDT as it is one of the greatest frags ever created.. I even like Dress code which is a bit to sweet for my tastes but I can bear it... But I wont even bother with L'Instinct ...discontinued in 2 years and in fact from the feedback heads might even roll over this... LVMH boxes these perfumers in and then demands they release something extraordinary 🤦

Stunner of a vid guys. What an interesting concept to have someone who's worn it for a while smelling it alongside someone who's just trying it for the first time. Love that kind of contrasting perspective in a vid. Unfortunately, I had the same impression. I gave it time, and it's just....Well I can tell you that I originally hated L'homme Ideal Cologne when it was first introduced (eventually growing to really like it), but it's miles above this one. I'm still on board if Delphine ever decides to create an orange flanker of L'homme Ideal, but to put this in the HR lineup....non non non. I think 2020 (with the release of Dior Homme 2020) was officially the year that the descriptor 'synthetic' finally bifercated into 'artificial' and 'chemical' because of the overdependence on aroma molecules. Perhaps more sustainable...but we can do BETTER. Can't we?
I do believe Delphine is a great perfumer, but that she has her hands tied by LVMH. More and more I believe that it's possible to make a very 'natural' smelling fragrance that is almost 100% ACs. There are plenty of great £15 fragrances out there which must be 100% ACs, but this fragrance is part of the trend you describe that seems to want fragrances that don't smell 'natural'

I've always suspected that the limitations and incentives placed upon perfumers at their respective firms as well as the pressures of conforming to trends have been the primary reasons for so many starting their own brands. Then the pandemic hit and everything went haywire. 🥴

Haven't tried this yet, but having a Guerlain release in the same conversation as Phantom (I still have PTSD from how bad that smells) is not a good look for them. Speaking of flankers, they are now also releasing Forte versions to their Aqua Allegoria line (which isn't bad, but another sign of the direction it's heading for). Also those Fortes and I think also the new Ouds are released as Sephora exclusives in the Middle East only at first. Guerlain is not what it was
I don't have a problem with the idea of the Fortes (although, it does seem to defeat the idea of the line somewhat), but a new Oud range? 15 years after everyone else started doing it???
I'm newly interested in fragrances and the Wafts have heavily influenced my first forays. Habit Rogue has been on my list to try...and the angered befuddlement at its apparent desecration has pushed me to get a sample of the original. Thanks chaps. R
Habit Rouge is a fragrance that i did not like at all. It's been sitting in the dark for a couple of year's since i blind bought it. (never blind buy people) I decided to give it a try in the cooler weather and would you believe i like it, the wafts i get from it are subtle but pleasant.
Wafts from the barn. I love all the habit rouge flankers I own ie. Vintage edt, current edt, vintage edc, current edp, leau and so on. I still haven't got my hands on the extrait but want to. I really wanted this to be good, but from what I've heard it's lack luster.

Love the humour such as why not call it "spotty teenager wants sex" 😂..." spunk" and the emotional impact "profoundly depressing" and "angry and sad". I guess you were all to focussed on Habit Rouge. Would love the see a review on this fragrance without it being compared to Habit Rouge. I am not looking for a habit Rouge as I already have 3.

This was an interesting video. Have not tried the new HR, but if it smells like you say (and I believe it does), then this must be the strangest release in years. Actually, it reminds me a bit about what Dior did with Homme in 2020. I blindbought ideale extreme some months ago and it also smelled very generic, very loud and showergel-ish. It gave me headache. Terrible perfume, even compared to others in its genre. Couldn’t wear it so I sold it. Your description of the new HR reminded me of that one. Guerlain is one of my favourite houses, but now I don’t understand what’s going on there.

Loving the cooling white shirt choices too! 👌 I love #HabitRouge from #Guerlain, and whilst not at the 32 bottle mark, Dan 🤣, I have a healthy 9, the latest being Encens Mythique which I absolutely adore. I, like many people are captivated with the 'classic' Guerlain DNA, and like many more - this magic formula ✨️ means they are arguably my all time favourite house. I don't mind the Habit Rouge EDP, but the EDT has been such a comforting, elegant, wonderful and beautiful ❤️ wear for me for over 10 years now. I might have checked this out, but I really detest flankers on a conceptual level to be honest. The same way I don't really like the movie flankers or literary flankers that are released. To me they seem mostly cynical attempts at coining it in. Seeing your sniffing (and Jo's face just when he's smelling the strip! 😭) is thankfully all the insight I need to avoid at all costs. The board of Guerlain are going nuts ! they discontinued gems such as derby, mouchoir de Monsieur, Frenchie, Lui..... And they dare to relrase this crap!😣 Guerlain managers & perfumers they don't even respect the legacy of the house of Guerlain👎 such a shame! Right of course. but what the demographic supposed to be here? Yous pointed this out. Before they sold out Guerlain didn’t do focus groups and all that nonsense. They were guided the creative energy of the perfumer not by money, and in doing so produced some of the greatest fragrances in history. It really makes me sad. Guerlain are the dog's. By far the most underrated fragrance house by far. Habit Rouge is just killer. I love mine with a passion. Sounds like this version is just a cash grab.

Unfortunately this is no longer really Guerlain. It is LVMH, which destroys great perfume houses.

I have the EDP. Would recommend I try the EDT or are the two similar enough that I needn’t bother, would you say?

The greatest perfume house ever, with no competition. But the past 20 years, under the ownership of LVMH, has been a sad state of affairs.
