Namskar Mandali,
Situated in dense forests surrounded by river Koyna is the fort of Vasota, which according to the ‘Dnyaneshwari’ means a resting place. This fort is also known by the name of Vyaghragad.
Vyaghragad name is given by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
It comes under the Mahabaleshwar ranges of mountains. It is located in the Jawali district of Satara.
Vasota is a forest fort that comes under the reserved tiger forest area of Bamnoli.
It is used as a Jail throughout history due to its dense forest cover, surrounded by Koyana backwaters and high cliffs.
