Age of Hannibal Siege Warfare Tutorial

  • This tutorial video explores the siege warfare mechanics in the new ancients rules Age of Hannibal. While most battles in the game will not be sieges, this is a fun option to help re-create iconic moments like the siege of Syracuse or Jerusalem. The rules also allow defensive-minded players to create their own custom fortifications for a non-historical siege! The siege rules are only a few pages long and offer wargamers a fun opportunity to do something different.

    Any chance of more content with these rules? More tutorials, or a really in-depth battle report to get more of a feel for the mechanics would awesome!
    Very inspiring either way, keep up the good work!

    Bought the fortification pdf and downloaded the free buildings, and I have to say it's a very clever system and looks great too!

      Thanks, Justin. We wanted something cheap, versatile, and modular and have used it to great effect in our club. Hope you get as much mileage out of the system as we have!

      Thanks, Phil. We've always talked about doing big sieges in the club but never found a good system that made them interesting. So we wrote one!

    Great system, I hope you will develop a similar one for the Vauban fortifications and the European siege warfare of the Great Century

    Paper tower-and-wall system looks very adaptable for 7 mm GDW System 7 Napoleonics for the various siege battles during the early 19th century Peninsular War.

    You mention watching your Carthage battle. Is that one of the future games?

    • @LittleWarsTV
      @LittleWarsTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This Thursday we'll be posting a mini-episode of sorts. It's a shortened version of our typical wargame episode, but yes, it will be the great siege of Carthage!

    I found a link on your web page for the fee buildings, but I can't find one for the walls, towers and gatehouses. Would be happy to pay the $8 for the download.

    i would shy away from fire arrows if i were you. they are extremely historically inaccurate, as, even with modern technology flaming missiles fired from a bow are not viable or realistic

    • @NathanielWinkelmann
      @NathanielWinkelmann 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not a fan of fire arrows myself but I can see their place in a fast and loose beer and pretzel game. Kind of gaming out old Studio era epic films rather than history.

    • @steveholmes11
      @steveholmes11 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Used correctly they'd be aiming to get something flammable burning (haystack, thatched roof), big area targets where diminished accuracy is accepted.
      Definitely avoid the Hollywood flaming arrows, aiming to set people on fire.
