Great video , (first I had an dejavu ), (BAPS all those ww2 miniatures with white and red swimming rings), the speed in To The Strongest , got us hooked

I think both rules are really good. I enjoyed my games with both rules a lot. I’m amazed at how people can write rules actually. Brilliant stuff. I’m not that clever 🫣

If you enjoyed "Age of Hannibal" Id truly recommend "To the strongest" as a test game at some point. Its similar with just a touch more crunch, which really plays well into the solo war-game experience.

I’m not familiar with the rules, but they certainly seem to have given you an enjoyable game which as you say is the reason for playing. The armies look very nice indeed.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes for 2024.

Yes, I’ve wanted to play with all of them but solo is nice but not as fun as with other people. I bet you I haven’t played with even 80% of my armies.

Hi Kevin, a great play through, I particularly liked your introductory comments. If this is going to be the first in a series on ancient rule sets, I'm certainly looking forward to the next one. Many Thanks 👍

      @thekrausecollection15mmmin53  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi Paul, thank you for the comments. Yes, I have a couple more sets to work through. It takes a long time to learn a new set of rules and at least enough to play and put on a video. You certainly don’t want it to be totally wrong. So it is a little bit of investment of time, the next one on the list is to the strongest. I’ll have to do that in March when I return. But thank you for your nice comments.

    Thanks Kevin
V interesting, seems similar to DBA with the command points ideas vs DBA pips.
Heard somewhere that DBA is a pips management system.
I suppose it gives a sense of communications problems a field commander has in a real battle personally I prefer non command points system It does however negate the need for written orders which can slow a game down.
I do play DBA with a retired friend from work Early Imperial Romans v Seleucids we use 3x size armies with 25mm figures - good fun - ‘Bloody Romans’ tend to win.
Didn’t quite catch who won your inaugural game with this rule set ( just wondering if the Carthaginian lads managed a win this game)
    I’m a bit biased for Carthaginians🙂
Thanks again for another great video Kevin

    Regarding
beer and pretzels- when I and 3 friends from work play flames of war or Team Yankee its soft drinks and Pizzas.
I have one friend who plays US and he always brings Donuts- as he says ‘the U.S. always bring the donuts ‘😂
As you say win or lose it’s always a good game what’s important is enjoyment and friendship.
    Thanks again Kevin
Hope you had a good Christmas and New Year

Would love to have some peanuts but I have Diverticulosis so that prevents me from doing so. I've found that the lighter the rules often times the more enjoying the games are but it also depends on who you play with. Happy New Year by the way! I have in fact got back to miniatures. I've decided to go back to where it began and that is 15mm ww2 but this time I am going with the early war from 39-42. I just got in the mail some Forged in Battle and Command Decision 15mm miniatures for the Polish, French and Germans. Just prepped and primed the Polish Forged in Battle heavy machine-guns.

Do you know the funny thing is we all have lots of rules, and we never play them we just like to buy them. But I thought jeepers I should try them myself and after two games, I could tell you I really did like them. I didn’t want to like them because I like another set of rules. But I couldn’t deny the fact that it was a very good game and I had to be truthful with myself that dang it they did a good job.

The frontage we use is also 80mm as we have the mounting from Hail Caesar. We play the rules on club night. Great set for that and easy to teach. When you add in the terrain and Leader cards makes for some very fun results! Enjoy the rules we do!

They are good rules. Certainly not competition games rules but historically written. I think, given Greg’s nature add a little wars TV. He was very concerned about just making a game and not making it historically plausible. You can see that in the rules, and it makes for a fun game very simple and I was impressed to be honest.

I think you could play a game with any amount of figures on any size table at any time. It really is just a game to be enjoyed. This is some thing I guess I’ve learned with my age that it really doesn’t matter as long as you’re having a good time. I think the 80 mm frontage for figures works extremely well and it makes for a nice game.

@@thekrausecollection15mmmin53 it takes a couple of games to get used to it but it makes sense. The grids keep things linear and speeds up play as no measuring etc. We think the cards create more tension somehow than dice rolling. Use two packs. We also use small sized cards. Additionally we use dice trays with mini d6 for the ammo and the disorder tracking.
This is our game now for Ancients and we use Simon’s For King & Parliament for English Civil War,which works brilliantly.

    • @thekrausecollection15mmmin53

I think I will go out and get two small decks. I think it was the cards all over the playing field that disturbed me the most. But having small little cards maybe that’s interesting. All right, I’m going to give it a try.
