Well, someone might need to help me here, but - I believe I see a big old boiler in the background, with a steam pipe going up. It comes down to this engine, into the box on top which houses a cylinder with a piston. There's some valving that regulates the steam going in. That drives the piston rod going to the spindle at the base (the rotating part). There's the painted flywheel at one end, and the small drive wheel at the other. At your farm or your shop, you would put a belt on that, and you could drive all sorts of machinery. That's 4 hp and a LOT of torque 😊
