If you ask me, I'd say this is still an impressive phone and has good specs, but as far as updates, it's not the best for people who want those. Now, if you have a good deal or want an inexpensive phone that still can do most things you'd need, it's still great.

I'd say it's worth it. If you can get one in good condition, no screen burn and nice body as I have got 2 in very good mint condition for under 150 each one for me and one for my friend who desperately needed a phone, he loves it by the way, than get it! For me it holds up very good! Phone looks amazing screen is very beautiful, no scratches on our phones no screen burn I can also play call of duty mobile with no laughing or issues! Go for it but check it out first!

I say still worth using because of the decent sized big screen with the pocketable size compared too the big phones now a days, so for me that's a plus!

I'd also say if you're coming from BlackBerry KeyOne(or 2) then also yes it's worth it, because you can get the keyboard cover case still and root it and update it to more recent android versions, plus there's a Dec 2021 security update.
I have two devices kinda the Unihertz Pocket Titan and Galaxy S8, I was specifically looking at and for phones with the keyboard cover case, only others were Apple 4 and 5 and this was the newest android device that I could go keyboard or full screen if I wanted, other then that I was able to find Note5 and Note7FE keyboard cover cases too, but either too high priced or old and no microSD card slot so S8 was the obvious choice for that freedom of flexibility!

Restored phone to factory and reloaded only the apps I use most. These few apps still have loading issues. Any suggestions aside from replacing the phone?

Have had my S8+ since they came out and the only issue I've had was going too fast with trucks that were too tight down a hill that was too steep causing me to wash and fly too far, causing me to let go while I was filming, causing her to slide too far. I broke my thumb and her screen got massive road rash. AND she still works!

I have it now in use after having the s7. I liked the s7 a lot better. The fingerprint reader is in a very uncomfortable place. It's bigger than the s7 and doesn't fit in some of my pants pockets. the smoothed edges makes the tactile screen fail often. And the lack of buttons in the bottom makes it so much slower to navigate.

  • @woodneel

Samsung finally allowed users to remap the Bixby button to do something else (still launches Bixby if you long press it accidentally). I mapped mine to Firefox.
As someone on the verge of getting rid of my old s8 (got it in November 2017) because of how damaged it is, I have to say the screen burn-in (noticeable ghostly images on white screen) is pretty noticeable, especially since the odd screen size meant that when watching TH-cam not zoomed in and the phone got hot, there are burn-ins where the black bars on the side were and some of the TH-cam interface. Same goes for my pops' Note 8. Dude was a heavy user, I was a medium user.
Still, I haven't been wowed by anything else in recent memory as much as I was wowed by the s8's design - dang thing was just space age sexy... and pleasurable to the touch for some reason. Also slippery as all hell. Still, probably why I never put a skin on it and why it's SOO cracked and busted now... still feels good in the right parts though. However, it attracts a lot more oils than it used to even two years ago. Tempted to buy another one, but man, the amount of jank on the used market... But hey, thanks for a serious consideration of a 5 year old phone - I think this one was worth it back then, and maybe even now if it's for someone who needs a cheap phone but still want something interesting. Ah, though it feels like it lags and heats up a lot with graphics heavy games since it's only 4GB of RAM.
