PhantomStroke 32 the story is set 2 years after Batman emerged so they were both close back at those days. Mordern day deathstroke can manhandle the suicide squad with ease cause other than his meta-augments, most of his overpowering gadgets came much later.
I'm seeing a lot of people in the comments say that they disliked the story, but I thought it was great. It was cool seeing a war breakout between the Gotham villains. I also like how Batman had to actually work with some of the villains to stop the fighting instead of doing the typical punching and detective stuff. The Joker not being able to laugh was an interesting choice, but it made for a neat take on the character. That seen in Wayne Manor was also great. Most of all, I absolutely love what they did with Kite Man, making him both sympathetic and silly.
The Kraken Experiment right. The not laughing thing actually made him more scary, because it meant he usually thinks something is funny but this time he wasn't thinking it's funny. So he's more calculating and precepting than people give him credit for.
It was a good story, but it could have been written better. Unless comicstorian skipped a part that explains why Batman joined up with riddler. That is my complaint with this story. also poor kiteman.
Roan Wins Games he joined riddler because he had more guys, which he then used to capture all of those criminals easily. That way it was just Riddler, Batman, and Joker
The Kraken Experiment Although I disagree with all of the things you said, I respect your opinion and am very glad that you liked it! Personally, I thought having Batman work with the villains was just flat out stupid. He knew they were going to betray him, so why try? Also, the dinner scene was spoiled by the fact that the Joker and the Riddler’s arguments were half baked. “The Joker can’t kill the Batman” but why? “Nobody cares about the Riddler” but why? Is it because his character is too silly, or that riddles aren’t all that funny? I think it’s that lack of specification that sent it all to hell.

He thinks he is better then them, so to have that moment where he could have been like them, tough pill to swallow.
You said it, he thinks he's better than everyone else, like he has more self control. That's not confidence, that's all ego and arrogance, so of course one day his true colors would shine through, revealing the flawed, arrogant child deep down.

maxyman14 I really haven't liked a single one of tom kings stories. I'm not saying they're the worst stories but I just don't like tom kings writing style.
Imagine them just laying in bed, and catwomans like: about the proposal... Batman: THE STORY FIRST!
"HELL YEAH"
i love the riddler and doctor scene! its so nostalgic to the movie in the 80s
