I just got a great deal on a 2020 WRX Limited and I love this thing. It's a fantastic all around sports car that makes an excellent enthusiast's daily driver. Although the ride can be a bit harsh on bad roads, it handles like nothing else in its price range. Mine also came with the OEM short shifter, which raises the experience to another level. I've been pleasantly surprised by the fuel economy...even though it's only rated 27 mpg highway, I'm averaging 30 in mostly highway driving and I definitely don't baby it! Overall, I highly recommend the WRX, especially given the deals you can get right now, since the current model sunsets next year.
@@bj10jgo Honestly, no. When I reread that comment I laughed out loud because I slowly grew to hate the WRX. This is why you should never review a vehicle you haven't owned for at least a few months, time for the initial novelty to wear off. In any case, I can only recommend the WRX for people who don't mind the harsh ride (it's VERY harsh) and can accept Subaru's sh*tty interior quality. I didn't notice right away, but over time, I realized that several interior panels rattled constantly and it slowly began to drive me nuts. Having owned 3 Subarus, I now realize that annoying interior rattles existed in all of them. The bottom line is that, yes, the WRX is an incredibly fun car, but if you care at all about ride comfort or fit and finish quality, I'd recommend looking at something else. I sold mine and got a Mazda MX-5 Miata and I couldn't be happier with the change, but I do have a 2nd vehicle to drive in winter.
@@dlg5485 Sorry to hear. I was waiting for the new WRX to came out but im sure you seen how ugly the exterior looks. The interior is nice though compared to the old school looking interior in the past models. I was thinking of getting 2021 STI but i hear good and bad things about it.
I'll take a cvt limited all day for a daily driver. My current car has my historic average speed at 24mph. I sit in a lot of traffic. I want a quick daily driver that handles snow. I'm not a rally racer so I don't need a rally spoiler. I'm never gonna go to a track. With my daily drives, no point in buying a manual.
We might, if we get the chance. We're expecting a lot of new cars coming soon, but we'll definitely do our best to get another comparison in if we can! Thanks for watching!
It's hard to say. We reviewed the new Civic Si just a few weeks ago, and it was quite a bit cheaper than this WRX. I'd say if you're on a $25k budget, go with the Civic Si but otherwise the Limited WRX would be a lot nicer (if you can afford it). Thanks for the comment!
T W I just bought an 18 forester XT. Awesome crossover SUV, best in the business. However, the WRX is better in every way with the number one thing being the bucket seats. The seats in my Forester are just a disaster, think park bench comfort level. I’m having buyers remorse and am seriously considering selling and getting an 18 base WRX. The drone of the CVT is something nightmares are made of
I have a manual 2015 but I really suggest just getting the CVT and using this as a really great DD sedan. It's so practical and has many strengths but a cheap RWD car would be better for pure fun. Does the base 2018 have better brakes than the previous years? My brakes honestly feel like garbage and are my only real complaint with the car.
Our dealer does not currently have a WRX STI. Hopefully they'll take shipment of one over the next couple weeks, and then we can get a review to you all! Stay posted :)
$30,000 to $32,000 for a premium and you dont even get keyless entry with push button start? What a joke. I can get a $25,000 legacy sport that comes with keyless entry and push button start lmao
Lol, remember guys, keyless entry and push button start is everything. Forget about the performance of the car, engine, suspensions, responsiveness. Its all about the keyless entry and push button start! :D
That's the point I'm trying to make. If you have to get an automatic with a WRX/STI, then don't bother getting a WRX/STI, get a Corolla instead. Inn other words, get something less fun and more commercial. That's just my opinion. I'm aware that CVT's and automatics on the WRX are great from what I hear. I just think that race car should look and feel like a race car and be manual.
That's good! It's whatever makes you happy. Not other people's opinions. I just refer a manual on a sports. Just my opinion. Not everyone has to agree.
MsDannyrevs CVT buyers think their automatics are superior to manuals. They just dont get it. The subaru cvt is no good, when they break and they will. It will cost 7 to 8 thousand dollars for a new one. And they will break most likely out of the typical 60,000 warranty mark. People just dont do their research. The CVT in the subaru is clunky at lower speeds and it feels like it rubber bands when the revs hit. Not to mention it surges in between those arrificial gears on the paddle shifter. Its a total fail transmission for the consumer and a win for subaru, because all you cvt riders are going to be forking over your hard earned cash for a new cvt when it fails. Its really a shame that subaru didnt just leave the cvt for the imprezza models. Subaru should have made a traditional sports automatic for the wrx/sti. Leave that old man CVT in the daily commuters.
Our second Subaru review is going to be on this pretty awesome (and affordable) 2018 WRX! Let us know what you guys think about the "refreshed" WRX in the comments below, and don't forget to hit the thumbs up and SUBSCRIBE if you enjoyed :)
Got myself a 2018 WRX Limited. Currently in the shop, cannot wait to drive this baby again.

Would you say its still worth it? Im thinking of getting one.

This might be the first WRX review ever to say sound quality is good for the base system LOL.
KODEIIBYH the bass system is good it just the base models don’t have it
honestly the base sound system isn’t horrible like it shakes the mirrors a little but the harmon kardon is definitely worth it
I love this little car! It really isn't that expensive for what it is. I don't know about the CVT but other than that it's pretty great
These are hard to get luckily I got one
So hard to get I only found one that’s a good price in the whole New England area

nice, my next car for sure
Imho base manual is the best version for this car
awesome review! keep the subarus coming
Thank you so much, Brian! And we will! Hopefully a new Crosstrek will be on the agenda very soon :)
Hey dude do THE 2019 WRX PLZ btw thxs
Cvt has an annoying wine when stepping on the gas and it’s a bummer you can’t launch it faster
Anyone else notice boost read 20.5psi and the car has 14 miles on it 🤣
will you all compare this to the new civiv Si? oh and please get the Type R if you can
We might, if we get the chance. We're expecting a lot of new cars coming soon, but we'll definitely do our best to get another comparison in if we can! Thanks for watching!
if it were your money which one would you get? Civic Si or this? thx

Car Confections my dealer quoted me $30,892 and for a custom order limited

Thanks! We appreciate that :)

What's on the popular package #3?
great review, waiting to compare to the '19 Forester... I know, totally different cars

What about electronic brake force distribution?
Very informative! Great job.
+Chhoeun Man Thank you!
18s are way nicer than the cheap looking base 17s
do you have a review of wrx base?
This thing sick wind it comes to the thing on the hood and ha the front end sitin so
I about had a heart attack when he said Lexington KY because I live here lmao!
MikeD20 Haha yep! Good to hear from a local!
can this car used RON95 fuel?
tough little ride. great job. thanx !
You're welcome! We're glad you liked it :)
I feel like the way you said that makes me think that if someone told you they have a wrx you would go “awww thats so cute” hahahaha
Thanks for this~
when the sti is going to uplode

Yeah but then you own a Legacy...
I would pay extra NOT to have PB start....just more unnecessary tech to fail.
what color is this in?
It is called Pure Red. It's a no cost option.
'Redesigned' as in front bumper Subaru!
Haha, it took us a while to figure out what was different between them! It's really, really minute change!
Why does it say STI on the back?
Peter Galbraith that’s a option you can get... it’s the SPC carbonfiber trunk garnish
They performance package has the moon roof....
go for the crosstrack
We're planning on filming this one, too, by the way!
Who else cringed when they saw the auto gear lever?
Hmmm, an automatic WRX is like Six Flags without the rides. smh. Just get a Corolla.
DeliciaTrini Corollas aren't fast

manual would be my choice

the automatic/regrettable purchase trim.

One can get a rebuilt transmission installed for $2000. You'd have to be nuts to pay a dealer for a new one.
Peter Galbraith Most dealers wont repair a cvt transmission. They replace them.
Guided Hand
So?
Peter Galbraith So its not practical to own a cvt because cost of replacement isnt worth it to most.
Guided Hand
Strawman argument. People don't have to fork over 8K to a dealer when 2K to a transmission place will do.

Definitely not the gay ass CVT!
I test drove the cvt and its fine stop being a lil bitch lmao
Jack Hammer cvt is my option here manual boy hahaha
*Says the snowflake who could never afford this car and jack hammers his own ass in his Prius.* XD"
🤣🤣 may as well be a Mitsubishi lancer 🤣🤣 .. looks like a granny mobile..
lol the cvt
Oh god not the automatic. It should be a crime getting this with a cvt. Blyah (spits).
I’m getting it bot, bet you I’d win in a stock race too.
