- For almost 40 years, the Richard Tucker Award has been granted to an American singer poised on the edge of a major national and international career, with a list of winners that reads like a who's who of American opera stars, including Renée Fleming, Stephanie Blythe, Lawrence Brownlee, Matthew Polenzani and Christine Goerke.
Praised for her vocal beauty, seamless technique, and abundant musicality, Nadine Sierra is being hailed as one of the most promising, young talents in opera today. She was named the Richard Tucker Award Winner in 2017 and was awarded the 2018 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Having made a string of successful debuts at the Met, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra national de Paris, and Staatsoper Berlin, she has become a fixture at many of the top houses around the world. On August 24th, 2018, her debut album, There’s a Place for Us, was released under the Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Music labels.
This is some exquisite phrasing and singing. I feel like a lot of Susanna’s approach the role singing this aria in a similar manner. I enjoy this interpretation because of the emotion and gentle caressing Nadine sings with. She’s such a beautiful artist!

She did the Contessa with Lisette Oropesa, who has a comparatively lighter, if just as beautiful and supple a voice.
I'm guessing WQXR is not a fan of Nadine, with the unflattering still on this post. I am not an expert but I know what I like,Nadine is great.

ogni volta che chiude una frase esegue un'appoggiatura che Mozart non chiede assolutamente e che , per me disturba la linea melodica che Mozart ha chiaramente scritto nella partitura. ......la conclusione è pure con l'aggiunta di varie note con un risultato che conferma un assoluto cattivo gusto
e' bella anzi bellissima e anche Mozart accetterebbe le sue appoggiature che solo tu noti,il suo canto deriva da 16 anni di duro studio e anche se non si atteggia a diva ormai il suo ruolo di nuova Divina dopo la Callas e' segnato.Come la Callas che ha ricevuto sempre molte critiche tu Nadine prosegui a testa alta e ..grazie di esistere

she does change the music you know...there are bars that are la la or do do she sings, la sol, do re...its not right...
Actually it's the way double notes should be sang at the end of a phrase with Mozart music, I agree with the do do on 'tace' it does not work very well.
Yes, it’s called appoggiatura, but it’s not that the real problem. She changed the melody in the recitativo in some points and too much glissando for Mozart. It’s not exactly how it should be sung. Also, Italian diction is improper in some bits… needs more rehearsing :) Really nice voice and she’s otherwise really good, but this one is not on focus, yet. I particularly loved her interpretation of Somewhere - West Side Story… really beautiful!

LISTEN to ELIZABETH RETHBERG and her BRILLIANCE OF TONE and EXQUISITE ARTISTRY. Whoever is teaching this young lady is pushing her voice, shouting at certain points which is the reason she cannot phrase the aria with the elegance exemplified by Rethberg.

Nadine is a great singer but Mozart is not for her, too much voice, too much glissando, too much appogiatura, the text wasn't good. She is amazing in bel canto for sure but Mozart requires the biggest musicality and finesse. Maybe she was tired?

Totally agree , she has a light little voice and pushes too much in addition seems to be missed the scores and singing whatever she wants. Needs more train and studying.
