I love that I just found your channel. This is my first year participating in Jane Austen July as well, but I have read her main 6 novels and Lady Susan previously. I agree, Mansfield Park is severely underrated; I love Fanny Price. She may be shy and timid, but not without strength of character and morals. Sense & Sensibility is great! I can't wait to hear what you think of it. Also, I never heard of The Other Bennet Sister! I've always felt that I needed some closure with Mary. I'll have to try to get that read soon. Another book that I'm reading this month that I thought you might be interested to hear about it Praying with Jane by Rachel Dodge. It is a 31 day devotional that stems from some of Jane Austen's written prayers and dives into them and compares them with the Word. I'm really enjoying it so far and thought that you might at some point as well since you mentioned that you are also a Christian.

@@kelleymcfadin Thank you! I’m so glad someone agrees and I’m loving Sense and Sensibility so far. I need some closure on Mary as well so I hope “The Other Bennet Sister” will do her justice. I own an Anne of Green Gables devotional from Rachel Dodge that I love so I’m definitely looking into that one before the year is up. I would love to know more about Jane Austen’s faith. Thank you for your recommendation 😄

Just found your channel. I have loved all of Jane’s books except Emma, but I think that’s because I was younger when I read it. I’m planning on giving it a second chance since everyone I know seems to love it. My favorite is Northanger Abbey.

@@CandlewickLibrary Emma and Northanger Abbey are the last two left I have to read. I’ve loved them all so far so we’ll see how the other two go 😄 I think I’ll love ‘orthanger Abbey since it’s a gothic satire and I love Jane Eyre.

I'm reading Mansfield Park with about 8 chapters left and I really really like it! Many people don't like mousey Fanny but I cherish her precisely because she's mousey and very introverted. In general I like how apt Austen chose her titles, for e.g. Mansfield Park is about all the people at Mansfield Park, and I think this is partly why I never had the expectation for Fanny to be featured as heavily as other Austen heroines. Many also say this is a boring book because of the topic of morality being so prominent. However I actually find Mansfield Park so funny! I laugh out loud so many times since chapter 1. I still have Emma, Northanger Abbey and Pride and Prejudice left in that order (yeah never read P&P before, shame on me!) Hopefully I can finish all 6 by the end of 2024!

@@janetay8798 I agree with everything you’ve said about Mansfield Park! It’s my second favorite after P&P. I still have Emma and Northanger Abbey left to go as well so it’s fun to know someone else is working their way through them this year too. P&P is a great grand finale and I hope you love it!
