WOW! I am so happy to find another Christian classics reader on booktube 🤩 this year is also going to be my Tolkien year so I am excited to follow along the journey 🫶
Woo hoo! LM Montgomery! I’ll be re-reading the Anne series and some of her other books this year with Chantel’s challenge . The Emily series and The Blue Castle are some of my favorites too.
I just love hearing your goals! I think you’ll learn to love The Lord of the Rings. They intimidated me too and now I find the most comfort in them. I’m on The Return of the King and will be reading soon. ❤
I love love your goals!! I love those Everyman's books too and have started collecting them too. Yes to including the Lord in your homeschooling and every day life. It's living your faith! We did a Bible curriculum when mine were young and we homeschooled. Or even keeping it simple with a simple guide to reading a small Bible section and work on memory verses.
@@Thecatladybooknook_PennyD thank you 😄 They are beautiful editions! Yes, that is the entire point of everything and if I’m neglecting that area all of the other education is for nothing! What curriculum did you use? Thank you for the encouragement 😄
@humblyhaley oh its been so long. Lol. My boys are young adults now. When they were elementary age, we used an AnaBaptist Bible curriculum because it was workbooks with coloring and other activities to illustrate the Bible passage. Then we did some catechism memorization then we used Sonlight for awhile but I don't remember if there was a separate Bible portion. They did Awana at our church on Weds so we used those verses for memorization. So many things have changed since then.
I love these goals, the reading and the life ones. Great idea to pick a male and female author to focus on. I'm also rereading through the Anne series and I'm at the same point!
@@insearchofwonder Thank you! I have loved the Anne series so far and it’s bittersweet to be so close to the end of the books 😔 but I can’t wait to try some of L.M. Montgomery’s other works.
I think reading The Hobbit would be a good transition from Narnia to LOTR. It’s my fave and so much fun. I’m doing the same and collecting certain types- mine are Macmillan Collectors Library and Everymans Library. I am just getting started with these. I love findings classics out in the wild. I got a good Wind in the Willows last month. My big books this year are Moonstone and Bleak House.
@@ReadJournalLove I think you’re right! I’m so excited for The Hobbit because so many people love it so much. I need to look up the Macmillan Collectors Editions. I really want to read Wind in the Willows and The Moonstone! Even though my TBR is already crazy 😅
I read The Hobbit in 6th grade and it became my favorite book for years. I plan to read the Lord of the Rings series for the first time this year as well! I love the Anne of Green Gables series, but never read any of Montgomery's other works. I may have to check that out. I love your idea of reading a biography about each of your authors for the year. You have some great goals for the year! My big reading goal is a deep study of the entire New Testament this year, and 52 books (at least 12 of which are intended to be about spiritual growth). Your other goals have inspired me to think about some additional things that I can work towards this year as well!
@@kelleymcfadin I’m so excited for The Hobbit! I can’t wait to finish the last few Anne books too. That is a great goal!! I would love to read the Bible in a Year but I never can seem to be disciplined enough to finish it. 2025 will be a great year 🙌🏼
@humblyhaley I read the entire Bible last year, but it felt too fast. I wasn't able to really dive in and study the Word. That's why I'm focusing on doing only the New Testament this year.
I’m so glad you are doing this again! After watching your videos last year, I decided to choose a male/female author for my year as well. I chose J.R.R. Tolkien as well and started reading The Hobbit in November and The Fellowship of the Ring which I finished at the end of December. I chose Elizabeth Gaskell as my female author after reading North and South during Victober and fell in love with her writing. My goal is to read all of her main novels and I will be reading The Silmarillion and The Unfinished Tales of Numenor if I can get through Tolkien’s main works. I’m also going to be reading The Aeneid in August to hopefully pair with Dante’s Inferno since Virgil is one of his guides. I’m excited to hear how your reading journey goes!
What a great reading list for the year! So excited that you’re doing Tolkein as well. Did you like the first two LOTR books? I really want to read North and South and may add that one in this year for fun. She’s a great female author choice. I’m reading The Inferno right now too and hope to read Virgil next year after I finish The Divine Comedy. 2025 will be a great year!
@@humblyhaleyI really enjoyed both! I have always been a big fan of the movies but there is something about the books that are quite different. I definitely couldn’t wait until the beginning of the year to continue reading the series. I have been reading the physical book and listening to the audiobook narrated by Andy Serkis who played Gollum in the movies. Listening and reading at the same time helps me from getting distracted.
@@Olivia-mom25 I love it! So many people are tackling some Tolkien this year 😄 I’ve definitely had to slow down my reading as well and become more intentional because I kept feeling like it was becoming a chore.

Tolkien! Yay! They are so good.
Great goals for yourself for 2025!

This is a great idea to pick a female and male author. Your enthusiasm is contagious.
