Superformance GT40 MKII Review - The Best Car You've Never Heard Of

- In hundreds of videos now and many reviews, few cars truly leave me wanting more. This Superformance GT40 just left me with this innate desire to own it and master the driving experience.
Mark my words here, I will have a Superformance GT40 car in the collection.
After learning all about the price and rarity, I am excited to say I believe many of my viewers can actually one day afford one. The best part, we learned that these Superformance GT40 cars hold their value. In fact, this Superformance GT40 MKII gem was machined into life in 2008, and has since (we believe) doubled in value.
In the coming weeks, this car proudly to be offered by our friend 427 Garage (.com) will be on Bring a Trailer in the coming weeks. We shall see what happens, but in any case, it gives me comfort in the rarity of the Superformance GT40 and that it is officially and exclusively licensed by Shelby.
In fact, Marcus the owner of 427 Garage who graciously allowed Bryan and me the opportunity today stated that only two Superformance GT40 build slots are ever offered. I was just astonished at the true handbuilt rarity of these special machines.
Now we did not speak too much about the incredible history of the Ford GT40. In short, Ford went after Ferrari and beat them at their own game engineering this GT40 to run the grueling 24-hour Le Mans race. While the Ford GT40 MK1 did not win, a very similar to this video's car the GT40 MKII did go on to win. It's an incredible story, and if you're a car guy I highly encourage you to watch "Ford vs Ferrari" the movie which was just fantastic.
We sure hope you enjoy our Superformance GT40 MKII review. I was coming off one of the worst colds I've gotten in years so trust me this review was a struggle but did my best. We already scheduled on Marcus once and I value people's time. So sick or not, this review was happening!
Overall, I absolutely loved this car. Sadly my entire POV drive had to be cut out due to zero audio. If you don't plug in the receiver fully, you get no audio. But I will tell you Marcus did an excellent job of sharing this cars driving dynamics. The 550 Roush V8 engine made some of the best engine sounds I've heard this year. The Shelby GT350R is a very close second.
What surprised me most personally about this Superformance GT40 MKII was how balanced and stable the car was. Without any "nannies," it felt composed even with the insane power of the V8 engine in it. Truly a testament to what the Ford and Shelby team created all those many years ago.
If you enjoyed our Superformance GT40 MKII review, please like, subscribe, and share with a car friend of yours. This channel is our passion project and the one day a week I get to make content is my happiest day of the week. I just pray I can continue to lose money working hard to keep bringing you guys content I would watch.

This is my dream car! Can wait to own a GT40 MKII one day!
Appreciate you watching and commenting! It’s definitely climbing my list I would like to make a Future 40 build happen.
Love this car i cant thank superformance enough for what they do ,best automotive company in 2024 i hope they stay true to their roots if they do i will definitely buy from them in a few years !!!
Super informative great first-hand view of this amazing car (hopefully someday.....). Thank you!
I have always wanted one of these, a MK I, new build is probably out of the question due to price… used ones are expensive as well! One can dream, nice video !
One can dream for sure 🚀💯 Appreciate you watching and commenting.
I have a Superformance Ford gt 40 MK 2, a raw gut wrenching car
The sound is terrific, and it is on top of the list of my cars
I also have a 2005 Ford GT and a 2021 Ford GT, so that tells you how good the GT40 is!
@@Ermenasce wow quite a collection of Ford gems there. Appreciate you watching and sharing that. If your close to Nashville I would love to review the 05 and 21 GT.
Marcus is a nice guy. My Cobra is there right now for some potential upgrades.
Yeah, he is a keeper.
Definitely a bucket list item, thanks well done
Yeah for sure, bucket list for me too. Appreciate you watching and dropping a comment. Means a lot 👊
@@Driven-Productions Superformance builds awesome autos.
This car is such fire.
Those downshifts are absolutely dream worthy!
Right!
Exquisite !!
Would go for one of these right away but the fact that I cannot open the windows is a deal-breaker for a summer-car for me
This sounds awesome just idling. Looks absolutely amazing as well. I'd go so far as to say I'd rather have one of these badboys than the mid 2000s model GT
In many ways I agree. I want to add one of these but do a modern take on it, like the Future 40 GT I discussed. All the old school looks with all the modern track capable performance of today.
What a car!!!!!!
Thanks bro, going to get one. Have a modern spec in mind that will happen one day soon.
If you had the coin, a barra would be a 6 cylinder i wouldnt hesitate to throw in there. Just for the cool factor alone!
While I enjoy the low rumble of classic V8s and would go that option myself if I could, I cant imagine how fast one of these would be with a twin turbo Coyote under the hood.
It's not a kit car. It's a factory roller (complete car but for drive train). It's licensed by Shelby American.
It's licenced by safir Ltd not shelby
gt40 the best car
Oh trust me, I've heard of it lol.
😂 Thanks for watching sir. How did we do?
We've heard of it , but you have to have MD. after you name to afford one of these cars .
No what you need is to have a corporation and business to own one of these cars. Then the business can write it off.
I used to live in Seaside California in the 1960s and saw an original GT40 in white with blue stripes drive down Broadway. Laguna Seca was only miles away!
Hold on. Can we still spec and buy mark 2's in 2023 ?
And Superformance is gonna build one up for us in 2023 ?
@@reallifeforreal maybe, it sounded like its a late 2024 at best build date.
@@Driven-Productions So it means we can buy & spec one in 2024 ?
@@reallifeforreal call up Marcus at 427Garage.com and find out. I would say you would have to secure a build in progress that is for sale.
Why not a built Cleveland Engine?
Or 385 series. Take a 429 and bore and stroke it to 545 cubic inches with dual fuel injection bodies. I'm Sure Roush or Kaase will sell them engines. 1,000 or 1,200 horsepower would make that car a monster.
@@chrisdaigle5410 Because people who can afford these do not necessarily have the talent to drive or interest to do such monster.
Hear me out a gen 2 voodoo with a gen5 whipped
Whipple*
washing is a pain in the ass. not really sealed up and all the vents let water in everywhere, even the headlights. A joy to experience tho
Interesting feedback. Appreciate you watching and sharing that!
SLC GT-R yup better built better design. Modern bad boy!
Cars are made in SOUTH AFRICA not South America as per video.
Sorry thought I said that one. Definitely knew that.
He's not a huge guy and he doesn't really fit in it well. He'll give himself a headache if he hits bumps and his knees are going to have a real problem if he crashes. He better tighten those seatbelts.
But, we die like real men 👊💯
@Driven-Productions that steering wheel looks close too.
These cars bypass the crash testing phase so have your will written.
You gotta remember these cars were built for driver's like Miles, Amon, Foyt and other slim drivers, not obese drivers
@@oomachiw111 It's not how wide they are. These cars are tiny in every aspect. Anyone who is tall has a real problem getting in and out of them. Dan Gurney had to have a special cockpit and new door with a hollow bubble added for his helmet to fit and then he was not able to see well, because the top of the windshield blocked much of his view. The called it the Gurney bump.
I've heard of it. Waaaaay too expensive for a kit car.
Officially licensed by Shelby American and built off the same molds as the original cars.
@@Driven-Productions Hey, people pay the price so it's worth it to some. But, then, some people will pay $100K for a wristwatch.
@@shoobidyboop8634 absolutely love it. One of my favorite reviews yet. Will have one with the modern 5.2 Ford Alluminator Engine and a 6 speed Tremec, modern brakes but with a classic livery, and actual track it.
@@Driven-Productions I'll give you $50K for it. Cash. US. Not that phony canadian stuff.
@@shoobidyboop8634 if I could buy a modern GT40 in my spec for $50k bro I would have it delivered next week.
Corvette out performs 😂
Huh, Wich Corvette?
