it got censored to buggery in EUrope, mainly i think due to aus and germany, lots of story got butchered, and everyone got turned into robots. also most likely why contra DS didnt come out in EU due to the old censorship of them, but i emulated it, its really damn good if you can get it.
How is that for a start to a game? Sure, you could start off slow, or you could ram your vehicle into your enemies at full speed until your vehicle breaks down and ejects you through the windshield.
Show your enemy thr same respect they give you! Ram them for 5 bussiness days! Best intro stage ever. Little cinematic, right into the action! Love this since kid and still do now 34 years later!

Yep I love the multi paths and characters though the Jungle level is so boring I wish I could skip it. The weapon system is so cool then everyone went to the "3 weapons you always have" system which is BORING
interesting longplay, it's a Splice of all the different branches together. Not what I would normally expect from a longplay since it's not the actual game experience, but it makes for a good viewing experience. This is one of the best action games ever made and definitely one of the top Genesis games. It's so badass and the music ROCKS

I remember back in the 90's, I was with a friend, and he told me: "I have Contra, wanna play?" and we played Contra Hard Corps for the Genesis (the most common console over here at that time) and I remember choosing Fang not knowing anything about the game, he told me: "choose Fang" (knowing that was the hardest character to learn but could be the best one if learned). I remember getting killed by that mechanical spider and also that giant robot at 2:00 used to scare the shit out of me, specially the first time, that effect was so good for it's time. I remember not getting far into the game but he actually made it far. Recently, as an adult I have beaten it with all characters and all endings, but only once 1cc. This is the best Contra ever made
that alien level along with that Freakish Music is one of my all-time favorite paths in any contra game ever!!! i mean you got soldiers morphing into running headless chickens...a slow moving alien that shoots projectiles at maximum speeds, An ugly looking fish-like mid boss that bounces around trying to squish the main hero, guts and innards in the background, eyeballs, A scary lookin' centipede type insect that has a twin for more creepy action, shitload of scorpions and aliens trying to eat you alive...and FINALLY....The Most disturbing boss of them all...The Female Alien Boss!!!!! and that sums up the best contra level in history!!!! along with the most disturbing but greatest theme in contra history.

Both 16bit Contra games are easily the best of the series imo. I like the good old Contra 3 a little bit more because of its great gameplay, but Hard Corps has more content with twice the cartridge size. Imagine Contra 3 would have 16megs as well, it would be even more amazing.

It could charge for a lower price for the console itself (maybe around $50-100?) and a HUGE library of games from each era is included for their own prices, depending on the console, including NES up to the N64 (3rd to 5th gen). Surprised nothing like that hasn't been done before (Nintendo Switch Online as an exception, but that's limited to only NES games)
Well there's the SEGA Genesis Mini that has Contra: Hard Corps included along with Contra Anniversary Collection available on Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC. I don't know if Contra Anniversary Collection has Online Multiplayer available or not.

Wow, I had no idea Sheena was so powerful.. I always played as Ray, because Spread gun (I kick it old-school like that... I'm so old-school, they tore the school down!) I had to practice for a few weeks before I was able to find all the endings, very well done. This game has some of the most awesome BGM of any game, past or present. It was amazing what that 16 Meg cartridge could do, especially with Genesis sound chips.
This game in 2019 still fucking fun to play.... Probably one of the best games ever made, i hate contra series... But this game, damn... Stunning art style, back in 1990 this shit was too far ahead of its time

I remember to have seen this in a Gamestore when it came out. Back then it was common knowledge that the Mega Drive/Genesis can *not* do *any* 3D graphic. This Game don't use 3D either ... they use tricks to make you believe it's 3D. But Trick or not ... the Game *still* looks Impressive, not to forget how cool the Design of all stages and Bosses are. Far better then the Snes Contra that was released. In addition, the Snes Contra was on the Hardest Difficulty _unfair_ ... there were Spots you would just die, i beat this game here with One Life ... with a friend on every route. Of course the Snes Contra was released at the _Start_ of the Snes area ... while this was released at the _End_ ... what a huge difference that can make.

A "monkey" with a number of nasty surprises before it devolves further. I mean, when was the last time you fought a monkey that could shoot fireballs? Oh, wait a minute...there was Oozaru from Aero Fighters, now that I think of it. Well, how about that Altered Beast-inspired dash attack? Hmmm...😅
This reminds me of Sonic Wings 3 where the game feels so different from the original and does some crazy things like having a dolphin that pilots an aircraft or fight a monkey that makes funny faces, although it's not as crazy fast paced as this game.
I never cease to be amazed by the Mega drive library. Clearly the system can scale multiple sprites with ease. The SNES version of Contra looks like a joke next to this game.

I wonder if this game had anything to do with inspiring the creation of Sega's/Treasure's Alien Soldier, as both games are balls-to-the-wall hard shmups with more boss battles than there are regular enemies. I would dare say that Alien Solider is the easier of the two games (well, the North American version of Contra Hard Corps, at least). I honestly never saw the end to Contra HC until I discovered emulation, save-state abuse, and the use of Game Genie codes.

LMFAO at the secret arena ending! I never found it, only got to the hacker and the Gemini Twins incarnation killed me. Tough as hell game, but so fun.

37:30 is the canon ending, however the best ending is 1:16:30.

Hardest part about Contra Boot Camp was the summersault training.

Ну в некоторых моментах его конечно 2 или 3 раза убивали кое какие боссы, но а так в целом да мастер не спорю! 👍

I never understood why people considered Contra 3 to be the best one. Hard Corps is WAY better. Maybe it's because this came out later.
This reminds me of Sonic Wings 3 where the game feels so different from the original and does some crazy things like having a dolphin that pilots an aircraft or fight a monkey that makes funny faces, although it's not as crazy fast paced as this game.
I never cease to be amazed by the Mega drive library. Clearly the system can scale multiple sprites with ease. The SNES version of Contra looks like a joke next to this game.

I wonder if this game had anything to do with inspiring the creation of Sega's/Treasure's Alien Soldier, as both games are balls-to-the-wall hard shmups with more boss battles than there are regular enemies. I would dare say that Alien Solider is the easier of the two games (well, the North American version of Contra Hard Corps, at least). I honestly never saw the end to Contra HC until I discovered emulation, save-state abuse, and the use of Game Genie codes.
Well there is Treasure's more well known Gunstar heroes too which is a bit older than this and similar to both.
