Great review, I bought one last week and am happy with it but man you are so right, the cons are still there, a year later now. Does Algoriddim not know these negative points? By the way the last pad, the looper, you also need the pads on right side, so all 4 left, and 4 right to use them all 8.

Great review. I didn’t know you but now I’m definitely following your reviews. Keep this good work. Btw, I bought the old reloop mixon 4 few years ago and had biggest fails than this little buddy, seems that reloop is not capable of making things well done with algoriddim software... very frustrating cause I like the things they do (for the budget). But I defenetly would pay 40 bucks more for a well tempered controller.
Hi, good review! I have two questions: 1) does it work as a soundcard (with master and phone) for the iPad PRO? 2) does the iPad provide power for the device?
I feel like the drawbacks aren’t dealbreakers, if the audio output is decent quality, what more do you want for this price point? Also algoriddim are very careful not to over clutter the iPad screen because some people will be using smaller iPads with this controller - however not me, I got the 12.9” pro
Waiting for my buddy. half of the functions you demonstrate change the screen but no you need to be unhappy about those which don’t. Neural mix is really cool you say that yes it is that in fact it could be the future of digital DJing as I see it now that thank you for the review
Did some research, found out that the Numark Mixtrack Pro FX is better (and cheaper) but then you have to map the Neural Mix keys yourself! And it has low mid and high eq. What is your opinion? Thanks!
I have a question if you don’t mind When the controller is connected directly to the iPad works fine, however, when I try to use an adaptor so I can have access to a hard disk or simply charge the iPad the software doesn’t recognize the controller. Do you know why?
Don’t worry. We’re in the process of creating something huge for both new and long time fans alike. It’s meant we’ve had to calm down on TH-cam uploads just for a while. Don’t worry though, lots and lots of content is being created ready to unleash!
Remixing on the fly is a game changer. Think about. 100 million songs on youtube and artist with the technology extract the mulritrack masters and create new combinations never heard before. Thats what we do.
Great review! Another bit of gear to consider; there are so many offerings at the entry level now its insanely hard to decide! I've been leaning towards the DDJ-400s or Herc's Inpulse 500 for my 1st bit of gear but its so hard to tell which is the best option.
I tried the DDJ400 first but took it back as I wanted a more portable option. The 400 was nice but this is great but I think more made for an iPad only user. With DDJ400 you need to have a laptop
Thanks for the kind words! There are a lot of options but most of them are separated by the software/device they are designed for. There aren’t really any bad controllers around anymore so decide which platform you want to invest in (Serato/Rekordbox/iPad/Laptop ect) and that should help make your decision that bit easier!
In my experiece, the 'looper' is a really good feature, if you purchase a year subcription of the algoriddim djay pro, the app will provide you 6 different kinds of 8 section-loopers for several genres. It will pop-up and indicate all informations in the ipads, but the problem is, you can only use 8 right pads, 8 left pads and plus shift keys for each pads. It means for 1 section looper, you can only use 2pads and 2 pads+shift key. Still weired, because reloop buddy is not showing directly all 6 kinds for 8 section-loopers with these pads.
DDJ 200 or Reloop, between the two which is better? I like some things about both, I have the 200, but don't like how I can't connect it to Serato, even tho it's a midi controller. That's probably the only thing I dont like about it. I really like the neural mix and thats the only thing that has me on considering. However I do have the proper software to make my own acap, edits etc but just being able to do it live is pretty cool. Also I know that the 200 is compatible with Djay Pro however I dont use Mac / dont have an iPad, considering on possibly purchasing one just for the simplicity of connecting and being able to connect the controller up and being able to use it for preparation or back yard BBQ or simple stuff. Its too much to break down, setup all the time.
Sadly you can't connect either of these controllers to Serato just yet, although we doubt Serato will ever support the 200. The Buddy has the advantage of the inbuilt soundcard for ease of set up, it's a really cool device!
@@Crossfader I think they would be some type of way for the 200 to work with Serato esp wince there's that feature that offered the option to use your computer speakers as your output and then just use the cable the controller comes with for putting out the music to bigger speakers. However when I tried this for some reason the controller won't respond at all, which I dont understand why, bc its advertised as a midi controller and connects through USB.
I do agree that Algoriddims Djay needs some serious Update towards the Reloop Buddy controller. Though is the Reloop Buddy also support other softwares like for PC. Like Rekordbox ? Traktor ? nor Serato ?
I think this reloop buddy+Ipad+Algoriddim Djay Pro is really easy to set&mix but as you mentioned the app is not popping up in a right way, algoriddim should know and fix these errors for the users
Keep looking at this controller as an upgrade from a numark DJ2Go touch… although I specifically bought that because it’s only a backup and it’s super tiny. But I wouldn’t mind a few extra features. I just think in 2024 this is still too expensive at £100. At £130-£150 I would probably buy it… but it’s not a £200 product.
Seems great in most ways except the eq is an absolute deal breaker. I would give up any other controller other than the play button to make room for mid knobs
Personally I do. We have a great relationship with Algoriddim and we let them know our thoughts before this video went public. They have a great team over there, they are always super positive about feedback! - Holland
I think everyone in the industry agrees but sadly the audio drivers inside Android are notoriously difficult to work with, especially for low latency DJ'ing. Until Google can stream line their drivers, I don't think we will see any application match whats happening in iOS which is running the same Core Audio drivers as the Macs.
I think this controller is cool and works well with DJay, but for the money £200 can get u better controllers. The DDJ-200 is great for complete beginners and for £250 u can get the DDJ-400 which although u need a camera adapter, work great with DJay and also allow u to use recordbox.
Why are DJs so threatened by this controller? Do people just feel that it’s getting easier to DJ? Because it is, just like when there was vinyl only... then came sync mode/beat matching. the tech is more easier and easier to use.
It’s a solid controller for the money, RGB pads and paddle effects at this price is a real bonus! A few software tweaks and we feel it’s a great purchase!
jesus christ what a peice of crap. basically its only good for plugging in headphones and the master out rca. looks like im still going to have to be touching the screen too much, and going to take a lot of practice to learn this kit. shame
I wouldn’t call this a beginner controller. There are so many things that are so confusing to a beginner. And for the money, it’s an absolute waste. And no one ever uses Algorithm or Djay these days especially if you want to go to a club or gig. For a 200 price budget/point I suggest the DDJ SB3/DDJ 400 or if you only want to use an iPad or iPhone to DJ, get the DDJ 200, although it’s harder to nudge the track when beatmatching but all in all, it’s a much easier controller for beginners in mind.
The DDJ400 does not work correctly with only an iPad and DjayPro. The sound cuts out and is a known problem that won’t be fixed. Rekordbox does have a iPad app it’s useless. The point of this controller is iPad only required (hence the holder). I don’t think. Beginner has also playing ata club in mind this is also aimed at hobbyists.
