It would help if the consoles didn't seem to contain steam conduits and rocks. I'm all for a bit of steampunk here and there, but it does seem an issue.
Beltran was seriously underused as an actor and first officer. I blame the writers as his renegade character was often softened never giving him the opportunity to fully shine.
Imagine if these 2 ships had teamed up the entire way through the Delta quad....it would have been epic. One cool headed captain and one hot headed one, would have been ebony and ivory thing:) I would have loved it!
Ransom would have probably double crossed janeway when she made a temporary deal with the Borg and both ships would have been assimilated because the Borg would have double crossed him but she probably would’ve planned ahead for that scenario screwed Jim and the Borg but saved his crew since they were following his orders

Also, that ship only had thrusters. So you could easily circle the planet around them on impulse and they would never get away. Stupid, stupid plot twist this one. None of it made any sense. Not to mention that the range on the phasers meant they could fire from orbit. Just one giant face-palm.

Also, we don't know the density of the atmosphere of this planet. If it was unusually dense, it might have required much slower entry. Janeway was counting on shields to compensate but they were already severely depleted. Equinox's shields might have been a bit stronger. Plus its a smaller ship which likely did not encounter as much atmospheric resistance as Voyager. That was pretty good strategy on the part of Ransom.
Janeways decisions were often illogical. That’s why the Vulcan was there, to operate the dual pedals when the driving got too erratic...except that time when Janeway tried to drive into a pulsar to try and shake off some aliens.😆
Voyager can't go to warp with a damaged deflector, the deflectors job is that produces a magnetic force field in front of the ship that repels space dust that would other destroy the ship traveling at order of magnitude faster then light.

Actually in season 1 of TNG, it was a red alert alarm on shuttles, used twice, the second time you only hear the audio when Troi's shuttle crashes in the intro of skin of evil.

Everyone else is wrong. They're entering the atmosphere at an angle of 60 degrees, which is too much. The atmosphere will affect the ship more than normal at that angle.
A yeah. Concept is good but man give it some reality. First shot shields down to 50%, second shot helmsman dies due the navigation console explosion. Every star trek faces same thing. But I love it still
1- Voyager was no match for a Borg Tactical cube, they were almost destroyed in minutes. 2-Voyager was heavily damaged in this episode from the Alien attacks before, in addition the Equinox EMH was giving them the shield modulations. 3-i assume you did not watch the series, so less criticism.
IIRC, in the previous episode Voyager built a custom shield generator which the Equinox stole. So the Equinox would have had to install it somewhere that wouldn't necessarily be in the ship schematics.

Major tactical error. Should have just held above the atmosphere, parallel to the Equinox, rained down weapons and waited for them to break apart or come back up for seconds. The atmosphere would have slowed the Equinox as an added bonus.

I agree with you. Voyager had a beautiful set and stunning visual effects. We didnt need fights in every episode, but as you mentioned: As a spectator I had the impression, that Voyager came right of the next starbase after inspection every episode. That was stupid.

30 seconds earlier ,the ship is badly damaged they only have thrusters .....then they dive into an atmosphere causing even more damage to their ship... Then they go to warp... Wish all starfleet ships had those good of engineer s and regenerative systems
The strangest thing about this is that Voyager had utterly no need to go into the atmosphere. They could just have stayed in orbit and followed from above. Voyager had such inconsistent writing xD
Inertial dampers were knocked offline while they were in the atmosphere. Remember Voyager’s shields were being strained by fighting the Equinox AND preventing the Alien attacks. Also, plot armour!

There were so many chances to make this series great but the showrunners missed every spot. Darth Primus rae The other ship was using sentient alien life forms from the 4th(?) dimension as a fuel source to get home quicker from the other side of the galaxy. This pissed Janeway off.

Janeway would eventually reach an agreement with the Aliens to give them Equinox, and Janeway also took the situation with Ransom rather personally.
Why the hell Voyager need to follow Equinox in the atmosphere. Just fly above and follow them. They'll have to come out of ATM eventually or else crash to the planet.
Help me understand how you can target a specific part of a ship through its shields? I mean the phaser and photon explosion’s energy spread around the shields evenly so how then can this energy penetrate specific locations of the ship with precision enough to damage them? Seems like the espresso machine in the galley would have just as much off a chance of getting hit as the weapons array yet somehow they specifically target the weapons array or the warp drive through a full shield and damage it. I don’t get that. Help.
The only problem with this two-parter's premise is that it's a two-parter. If this were written now, this would be split over a season. Imagine a season of two Federation ships instead of one, getting to know and like the Equinox crew, and when we let our guard down they turn out to be evil. The problem with the format of this show is that when you watch it all you can think of is "they can't change the show's dynamic this much, something is going to be wrong with the other ship".
That's kind of an issue with virtually every Star Trek series, barring to an extent DS9. You can usually tell who the "bad guys" are within the first 10-15 minutes of an episode, knowing full well that the whole thing will be wrapped up by the end. Enterprise also had some good series spanning storylines, not as good as DS9 but that show doesn't deserve the hate it gets.
@@tristang4138 they went against the Prime Directive and used the alien bodies to power their ship and gain a boost in warp-speed to get home faster. The aliens were sentient.
That was Gilligan island effect that voyager critics complained about since the pilot episode. You knew every effort they had until the last episode of the final season was never going to work to get them home, and at the same time, the core cast wouldn't all die either since then there would be no show left.
Equinox's crew discovered that the corpse of a life form from another dimension could super charge their warp drive, so they started harvesting them, they were under attack from the aliens when Voyager found them, the aliens had started attacking both ships, Voyager built a special sheild generator to protect them from the aliens, Equanox's crew stole it, when Voyager's crew found out what Equinox's crew had been doing they were not impressed, and Janeway lost her temper.
Either they went around Borg space or their enhanced warp drive helped them get through it faster. Also the Borg might have ignored the Equinox as it is not a threat
what I didn't like about this was that after the destruction of Equinox, some of the crew was on voyager if remember correctly but were never in any future episodes. Like what happened to them
Ransom was willing to compromise his morals and ethics as a StarFleet Officer to try and get his ship and crew home, right or wrong did not matter anymore.

@@Darkpara1 That and the Nova-class was a short-range explorer and Patrol ship. An Intrepid is a purpose-built Deep Space Exploration ship, so it's faster, better armed, and has a lot of tech necessary for long-haul missions, like an Industrial Replicator (probably how they replaced all those shuttles). Don't get me wrong, the Nova's a tough little ship, and effective at its job, but it's REALLY not what you want to be in when you get stranded this far away from friendly territory.
The Nova class was SO much better looking than most starfleet ships...they easily could have made her larger and slapped a crew on it and it would have surpassed Voyager in the ratings. Throw the guy that played Ransom on as captain or the lady who played captain Garrett in "Yesterdays Enterprise"....both would have been amazing. Missed opportunity.
B'Elanna can't locate their shield generator (which you'd think would be on the schematics she obviously had as they were on screen and it's a Federation ship) but she IS able to correctly identify, by number no less, the specific workstation the person she was talking to was at? In fairness, get one in STO. They're surprisingly tough little ships, and probably have the best shielding in their class, which is saying something when their counterparts are the Constitution-class Cruiser and Sabre-class Escort. IIRC, I actually managed to take down a Borg Cube one-on-one with my Nova. Shields held and she managed to run rings around it and pelt it to smithereens with Phaser Fire, Photon Torpedoes and Quantum Mines.
It doesn't make sense that the Equinox would have an EMH. Equinox got lost in the Delta Quadrant 5 years before Voyager did. When Voyager was first launched, an Admiral said the EMH was new, and they were only then thinking of putting EMH's on every ship. So why does Equinox have one? Also, the Uniforms that the Equinox crew are wearing are out of date. 5 years before Voyager was launched, Starfleet still had the TNG uniforms, not the DS9 uniforms. The Equinox Episodes had a Lot of problems. Whoever wrote it completely ignored a lot of established Trek Lore and continuity.

I agree with you. Voyager had a beautiful set and stunning visual effects. We didnt need fights in every episode, but as you mentioned: As a spectator I had the impression, that Voyager came right of the next starbase after inspection every episode. That was stupid.

30 seconds earlier ,the ship is badly damaged they only have thrusters .....then they dive into an atmosphere causing even more damage to their ship... Then they go to warp... Wish all starfleet ships had those good of engineer s and regenerative systems

The strangest thing about this is that Voyager had utterly no need to go into the atmosphere. They could just have stayed in orbit and followed from above. Voyager had such inconsistent writing xD

Inertial dampers were knocked offline while they were in the atmosphere. Remember Voyager’s shields were being strained by fighting the Equinox AND preventing the Alien attacks.

@@ItsMichaelHardy The Equinox had the same problems you said and yet not only is it a science vessel, less resistant to combat, but it was already in worse state than Voyager. The Equinox's shields should have lower than voyager.
Voyager was far superior starship than the Equinox, but the Equinox came to the Delta Quadrant the same way as Voyager.

They should've had the "Equinox" in the series for several episodes before the revelation of what the crew had done to the aliens. Then we could've cared more about these two episodes. There were so many chances to make this series great but the showrunners missed every spot. The Borg and Species 8472 war (where there could have been established the permanent alliance between Federation and the Borg which Guinan once said when they were first introduced into franchise), this... Ffs...

Help me understand how you can target a specific part of a ship through its shields? I mean the phaser and photon explosion’s energy spread around the shields evenly so how then can this energy penetrate specific locations of the ship with precision enough to damage them? Seems like the espresso machine in the galley would have just as much off a chance of getting hit as the weapons array yet somehow they specifically target the weapons array or the warp drive through a full shield and damage it. I don’t get that. Help.
The only problem with this two-parter's premise is that it's a two-parter. If this were written now, this would be split over a season. Imagine a season of two Federation ships instead of one, getting to know and like the Equinox crew, and when we let our guard down they turn out to be evil.
The problem with the format of this show is that when you watch it all you can think of is "they can't change the show's dynamic this much, something is going to be wrong with the other ship".
That's kind of an issue with virtually every Star Trek series, barring to an extent DS9. You can usually tell who the "bad guys" are within the first 10-15 minutes of an episode, knowing full well that the whole thing will be wrapped up by the end. Enterprise also had some good series spanning storylines, not as good as DS9 but that show doesn't deserve the hate it gets.

@@tristang4138 they went against the Prime Directive and used the alien bodies to power their ship and gain a boost in warp-speed to get home faster. The aliens were sentient.
That was Gilligan island effect that voyager critics complained about since the pilot episode. You knew every effort they had until the last episode of the final season was never going to work to get them home, and at the same time, the core cast wouldn't all die either since then there would be no show left.

Equinox's crew discovered that the corpse of a life form from another dimension could super charge their warp drive, so they started harvesting them, they were under attack from the aliens when Voyager found them, the aliens had started attacking both ships, Voyager built a special sheild generator to protect them from the aliens, Equanox's crew stole it, when Voyager's crew found out what Equinox's crew had been doing they were not impressed, and Janeway lost her temper.
The Equinox episodes were some of the best in the series. I wanted so hard for Ransom to be a good guy, but alas...

Ransom was willing to compromise his morals and ethics as a StarFleet Officer to try and get his ship and crew home, right or wrong did not matter anymore.

According to the discussion between Janeway and Ransom, Voyager was the tactically superior ship so Janeway gets to call the shots.

@@Darkpara1 That and the Nova-class was a short-range explorer and Patrol ship. An Intrepid is a purpose-built Deep Space Exploration ship, so it's faster, better armed, and has a lot of tech necessary for long-haul missions, like an Industrial Replicator (probably how they replaced all those shuttles).
Don't get me wrong, the Nova's a tough little ship, and effective at its job, but it's REALLY not what you want to be in when you get stranded this far away from friendly territory.

Captain Ransom could have easily changed the prefix code. He’s quite intelligent.
The Nova class was SO much better looking than most starfleet ships...they easily could have made her larger and slapped a crew on it and it would have surpassed Voyager in the ratings. Throw the guy that played Ransom on as captain or the lady who played captain Garrett in "Yesterdays Enterprise"....both would have been amazing. Missed opportunity.

B'Elanna can't locate their shield generator (which you'd think would be on the schematics she obviously had as they were on screen and it's a Federation ship) but she IS able to correctly identify, by number no less, the specific workstation the person she was talking to was at? Granted, I'll take that same scene inconsistency over the even worse inconsistencies Trek is filled with today.

In fairness, get one in STO. They're surprisingly tough little ships, and probably have the best shielding in their class, which is saying something when their counterparts are the Constitution-class Cruiser and Sabre-class Escort. IIRC, I actually managed to take down a Borg Cube one-on-one with my Nova. Shields held and she managed to run rings around it and pelt it to smithereens with Phaser Fire, Photon Torpedoes and Quantum Mines.
Shame we didn't get a Star Trek: Equinox like that one guy said, that would have been awesome.
It doesn't make sense that the Equinox would have an EMH. Equinox got lost in the Delta Quadrant 5 years before Voyager did. When Voyager was first launched, an Admiral said the EMH was new, and they were only then thinking of putting EMH's on every ship. So why does Equinox have one? Also, the Uniforms that the Equinox crew are wearing are out of date. 5 years before Voyager was launched, Starfleet still had the TNG uniforms, not the DS9 uniforms. The Equinox Episodes had a Lot of problems. Whoever wrote it completely ignored a lot of established Trek Lore and continuity.
