It's intellectual property. The same with any software, you have a license to use it, not decompile and change It's the same in your phone, computer etc..
Six months into ownership of a used Golf bought from VW main dealer. When a problem occurred with the IT recently (controls all functions in the car) the dealer told me a software update would cost £400 and is NOT covered by warranty.
@ that’s terrible, quite often there is a software problem on a car which usually results in poor gear changes, however we’ve also had deployable tow bars stop working, software updates have cost us a fortune
Ignore what these fools at Auto Trader tell you. This is what happens to a used EV when it comes off lease: The dealer tries to trade it on to another dealer, but they all say no. So it's advertised for sale on the pitch, but 90 days later it still hasn't sold. Then it's put through the auction 3 or 4 times, and nobody bids on it. Once it's clear there's no chance of it ever selling it, the sales manager calls a trade plate driver, and the EV is driven to an airfield, and left to rot. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar. Take a look at Loughborough Airfield, Colchester Airfield, and Huntingdon Airfield. They're all there.
You can’t sell EVs on benefits because there are none. Porsche Taycan a marvellous car? Really? They are horrible, there have been endless recalls, and no owners have been told by Porsche NOT to charge past 80% and not o park then under buildings because of the fire risk. Hmm if they turn the electric off at any time for any reason then you won't be able to get fuel out of the pumps either. But for those with solar and the correct switch gear you can keep driving locally at least!
The Government has removed all the incentives to buy EVs so now it's the turn of ICE drivers to pay the penalty of driving petrol and diesel with increased insurance costs, unjustified fuel price rises and unjustified VED rises. ICE penalties won't force me into an EV, ICE penalties will force me off the road.
Yes EVs are selling fast because they go for peanuts and are bought by cheapskates. The valuation of my 3 year old Jaguar F Pace SVR has GONE UP by £4000 this month! How many EVs do that?
It's been done in the 60s. Dodge or Plymouth (same company basically). They confiscated all the cars sold except a couple. I think there's one left but it's only for shows only.

There is a company called Coryton that have already developed an alternative fuel, which has been tested on the Dakar Rally and events like Goodwood. It is either 70% reduced carbon or 100% carbonless. It is a plant based fuel which they claim can be scaled up for mass production. Why aren’t they looking at this alternative?
Problem with a fuel source like this is that Solar energy is more efficient than biofuels and requires less land, making it a better choice for the environment. Ethanol is a much less efficient form of energy production compared to solar photovoltaics (PV). Using Energy Return on Investment (EROI) as a metric, solar PV is around 8 EROI while corn- derived ethanol is approximately 1.2 EROI.

Something I found out the other day, you don't own the whole EV, all of the software continues to be owned by the manufacturer. Which ultimately means they also can control your car over the internet 🤷
Don’t know that 😂
It's intellectual property. The same with any software, you have a license to use it, not decompile and change
It's the same in your phone, computer etc..
This is what happens to a used EV when it comes off lease:
The dealer tries to trade it on to another dealer, but they all say no.
You haven't been to Shoreham then, no?
You're making yourself look like an ignorant old fool.
You can’t sell EVs on benefits because there are none. Porsche Taycan a marvellous car? Really? They are horrible, there have been endless recalls, and no owners have been told by Porsche NOT to charge past 80% and not o park then under buildings because of the fire risk. Now insurers are cancelling the insurance on the vile things.
A real life BEV story. Purchased Renault Zoe using the £18000 value of my 2 year old Toyota as the deposit. 2 years later still owing £17500 and the car is worth £13000. Now I have no residual value to purchase another vehicle and this is the future?
Sorry.

Yes it does
For the STATISTICS you are correct . Then "Hide it on a airfield ". But will sombody find out who has money in , and is the V5 owner of all EV unwanted / unsaleable cars. It canot be UK Dealers as the volume is too large + they have been caught with previous years cars not sold !!. and still trying to dispose of .
@@BarrieCrampton And every time it changes hands it's a used sale so no wonder used stats are good and the car has not been on the road.
SMMT/ Autotrader need to get realistic on the figures
That's why sales are up because they are selling the same car 2 3 or 4 times in a year 😂😂
It’s looking that way
@@BarrieCrampton makes me laugh how they can use that as a given, i wonder what the figures would say if they took that out of the equation
Hi Barrie,
I have a question on autotrader, how do they measure sales? Because I have also seen cars being designated as sold just to show up as a new uploaded car for sale
Yep, I think if you mark them sold in Dealer Portal, they disappear, then you have to reload them again to put them on sale
Even trying to make EVs more wanted and desirable to " Private Buyers" will not solve the problem. FOR BUYERS THE PROBLEM IS THEY ARE TOO EXPENSIVE . In a dealership you canot stock these Unwanted Lemons . The amount of cash needed exceeds the potential return. If you had £ 100,000 would you put it into EV cars as a business venture " NO".
True at the moment
I just had a good look at a new Chinese brand sold by Arnold Clarks called an OMODA it looked really impressive! I would be happy to see it outside my house. They come in petrol or EV
Yep, there was one in an auction the other day, they had bought it on Christmas Eve, it had 100 miles on and they were selling it already 😂
@@jcfallows Cheap but are they any good ? Will they be cheap to service or run ? What will it be worth in a few years ? Important things to consider.

Somebody is lying, I have no axe to grind with EV cars, they drive fantastic if they suit your needs. You only need to go to car dealers in your own local area and talk to them, they will tell you exactly what you have just said in this video, Particularly in the used car market. The correct term for all this is that they are being forced upon us in a loosely speaking.
@@shreeshsaurya4203 Exactly, I like them they drive great, I buy cars cash, and I really don't want to sink my cash into something that is this volatile, they all lose money i know, but these rates are ridiculous. Hopefully it will all settle one way or another.
Hey Barry, just reading Cobolt Red, following your mention of it. Please do a video about it . Omg it’s a world scandal. Why are world leaders ignore it? Great work btw

At the moment, throughout Hyndburn, there are 5 public charging points. And no one on the council, are talking about putting anymore in the borough. So why would it be in my interest, to even think about buying an EV? 😮
Not for you at the moment then. Stick a Tesla Public charger close by and that would change things. For 1/3 population home charging is certainly an issue though.
Is it my laptop on the blink or does your screen keep changing and lighting going up and down. Its doing my eyes in.

I'm amazed since I've been walking a neighbour's dog just how many cars around are now EV or hybrid. It's happening like it or not we are going electric. Hmm if they turn the electric off at any time for any reason then you won't be able to get fuel out of the pumps either. But for those with solar and the correct switch gear you can keep driving locally at least!
@@jcfallows hence Smart Meters
The Government has removed all the incentives to buy EVs so now it's the turn of ICE drivers to pay the penalty of driving petrol and diesel with increased insurance costs, unjustified fuel price rises and unjustified VED rises. ICE penalties won't force me into an EV, ICE penalties will force me off the road.
yes thats true
What has World Economic Forum to say about this. Has they approved of this message?
Yes EVs are selling fast because they go for peanuts and are bought by cheapskates. The valuation of my 3 year old Jaguar F Pace SVR has GONE UP by £4000 this month! How many EVs do that?

Most of the public do not believe the stats, most of the public do not want EVs and we need to elect a government that is going to kick the lie that net zero is into touch, can we last another four and a half years, then hopefully Reform may reverse things, question is can the motor trade last that long? The trade should get together and fund a party that will keep them in business.
Not sure why you guys get so worked up. If EVs are so bad I'm sure all the EV owners will come on here in their droves and tell you what a god awful mistake they made and everyone will see reason. Trouble is very few do, because most people who buy EVs like them. Many of you guys sound like an 1880 horse and cart driver saying them new fangled petrol cars will never take off.

They want electric at any cost
Problem with a fuel source like this is that Solar energy is more efficient than biofuels and requires less land, making it a better choice for the environment.
Ethanol is a much less efficient form of energy production compared to solar photovoltaics (PV). Using Energy Return on Investment (EROI) as a metric, solar PV is around 8 EROI while corn- derived ethanol is approximately 1.2 EROI.
