The Rawlings Gold Glove Elite is actually a really great glove for anyone who is not taking baseball super seriously, young players or for those who have a secondary position that they can't spend $250 on. The biggest problem is that I do not think this glove is worth more than $120. I highly recommend finding one of these on other websites like mercari or ebay. The one in the video was only $55 brand new with tags! Again the glove is not bad but it is not worth much more than $120. They claim the normal price is $180 and that is farrrrr too expensive. So never pay that much for one!

I think part of the brilliance of these videos is how the Ballglove King is able to connect with us, the plebs. Of course the Ballglove King can afford any glove in his kingdom, but he chooses to try out and review gloves that we (the plebs) are more likely to use. All hail the Ballglove King!

To be fair, the middle class gloves are all at that range and inflation has touched everything. The GG elite is better than the Wilson A1000 imo…but for kids under 12, I seriously recommend the Rawlings R9 series.

In high school, a heart of the hide was never an option for me. I bought a GG elite first base mitt, and it worked out great! Very comfy glove, got the job done, still have it in college. The laces busted early on, but I had it relaced by a friend's grandad and haven't had issue since. Honestly a very very good "budget" glove

They must have changed their lines. I bought a Gold Glove Series first base mitt back in the mid 90’s and I believe that was their top of the line. I remember paying between $250 and $280 for it. I still have it to this day. The black finish is mostly rubbed off from heavy use back in the 90’s and some more gentle use the last five years with my son, but it’s been amazing. Still has the original laces.

The gg elite is absolutely great for younger players. If you get a kid one of these at the age of 8, it will last until they are a teenager. If you take care of it the same way you take care of the hoh or a pro preferred, it will last. I have had two boys use them. They both played spring and fall travel ball. One had an 11.5 I web infield glove that lasted from 8-12 years old. He could have kept using it, but we decided to get him a pro preferred for his 12th birthday. The other was a 12.5 first base glove that lasted from 10-14. Now he uses a 13" a2000. If you treat them like a cheap glove, they will last like a cheap glove. treat them right, they will treat you right. Don't get me wrong, the high dollar gloves are better quality, but using an a2000 as a pre -teen is a status symbol, not a required piece of equipment.

Somehow I found a GG at Dicks and out of the entire rack of gloves that one particular GG felt heavier, stiffer and thicker than ALL other GG Elites I’ve seen. I bought it. And dang. Glove took like 2 months to break in playing catch every day! Thing is a tank and can’t get over how I managed to get a GG Elite with crazy good stiff leather. Never seen another like it. It’s my favorite glove. My bro and a few friends have the same model but mine is definently stiffer and more sturdy and it’s got 10x more use than theirs.

Price difference is about the same right now. I'm thinking an 11.5" glove so this should last him for a long time... even if he is stuck in outfield. That or should I pony up an extra $50 dollars to get a Rawlings HOH Mark of a pro which can be had for $200? Basically looking for a glove in sub $200 that will keep him happy for a couple of years.

@@ballgloveking keep up the good work. Hey question - I have been using an A2K 12.75 for slow pitch the last 2 years and it’s holding up great.
Just wondering if you ever heard of this- I got it online and it was listed as a “spring training stock.” Saw online that some sites get gloves that Wilson brings to MLB glove days. Some of the ones the players don’t pick, they are allowed to sell.
It said it was gonna be stiffer, but it broke in great and has held up nice. I don’t have another A2K to compare to, but thought it was pretty cool.
They tried selling them for a bit more but I scored it on sale so can’t complain. Those glove day videos wilson posts are pretty cool

I always made fun of the sweet dudes on my teams with all the best gear and ornaments on the field (Probably because I was poorer). But after investing in an A2000 as an adult, it actually makes sense on so many levels…but only if you’re playing any infield position. OF gloves are shag gloves that get tested the most in warmups playing catch with hard throwing teammates. I still feel that any decent one will do.
    Where’s the baseball facility?

I play catcher, OF, 3rd, and a smidge of 2nd. A quality glove in the outfield is more important than you’d think because of the flexibility of softer leather. I’ve seen high schoolers drop balls far too often because a ball hits halfway of the fingers (or higher) and the glove bends backwards and the ball squirts out. Finger stiffness is a must for me, otherwise you’ll have to roll the fingers to keep the ball in and then you lose length.

  • @jonnyt16

Bought a GGE over a HOH for my son. Yes I know and understand the difference between the two but I'm not spending nearly 300 dollars on a glove for an 8 year old. Once high school comes then we'll look at more quality gloves but until then...
