- I just got my custom 44 in the mail!! My brother also just got his custom Rawlings in the mail! So it only makes sense to compare them. They are two different leather types so I am not comparing the leather as much as I am comparing how they come out of the box.

When I ordered my glove it didn't come with the finger pad so I think 44 is having trouble with the orders.
Don’t tell them about it. They will block you. Just have to take the L and move on. Their quality control has been slipping since the brand has exploded and they haven’t hired great employees to keep up.

@@stephendre2902, thats terrible advice. if you reach out via email they will try to fix it, and typically do a great job of that. Benny is also another guy you can contact about it and will probably help you out with getting it remade
The heel pad thing is just because it’s an outfield glove. That’s pretty standard. Thanks for doing a video on the obsidian. I’m expecting mine in the next few weeks and it’s cool to know what to expect. Also I’d probably nab a zip up with your logo if you started making them.

Love the videos Chris. I have a Rawlings pro issue Cory Seager model, it came with the bubbles in the palm lining like your talking about. When i reached out to Rawlings i was told it wasn't a defect and that the leather will stretch and that will go away. Still frustrating though. Love the videos keep them coming brother.

It’s interesting about the heel pad, I just got a new one from them as well and it feels very thin. They also missed a small detail on mine. They noted that it would be added, and it never showed up with the glove. I reached out to them and apparently they’re going to have it remade and sent back out.
Did you have to send the defect back or could you keep it?

I was blocked from 44s Instagram for simply stating they aren’t as good as an A2000 or Rawlings Heart Of the Hide when they claim to be as good as A2Ks or Pro Preffered. I’ve bought three. I enjoy customizing for the price but honestly they just aren’t up to par with all of the major brands. I use an Easton Small Batch glove cowboy edition and Rawlings TT02 this season. And they both blow 44 out of the water. My next will be a custom Mariucci. After getting my glove cowboy small batch I’m convinced everything that dude does is gold.
Yeah I get that, the major companies are sorta just on another level. 44 is still a super young company and they are doing great in light of that. But yeah, if you want the best glove possible you can simply pay more and get a Rawlings, Wilson, and yeah I think you’re right. Marucci is making some great gloves

Yes 100% I’d honestly say the Rawlings hyper shell is a little bit nicer but there isn’t a dramatic difference

i have a 12.5 outfield glove and my heel pad is actually pretty thick. it was to the point where it took me 3+ months of catching and pounding to get it broke in completely

I actually love the fact that 44 has very thin heels , way easier to break in and why would anyone want a thick heel pad . Wilson and Rawlings are now offering the option to have a standard or thin heel on the customs
As an infielder, I like a thicker heel pad because it dampens the bounce on ground balls that hit off it so I can get the ball into my hand faster
@@chasecarter7421 Funny that also as as an infielder, I hate having a thick heel pad because the ball bounces too much off it. The fields we play on mean you always get the worst hops so you rarely get to field perfectly in the palm. Maybe it's also a small hand thing.

The internal components for the 44 (like the felt, liner, etc.) will be much cheaper than Rawlings, Wilson, or Mizuno. You get what you pay for with 44. Their leather is cheap and patterns are generic. All they do is customize and market. Stop promoting 44 as equal to the big three.
the last 44 I got in had a really thin heel pad also... was pretty disappointed bc my first two were amazing

i bought a custom 44 and a custom rawlings. I like the rawlings glove but they are so plain with their presentation. I know they are good but some customer appreciate would be nice. I bought a custom liberty I get its the 3rd tier down but can they treat the ladies better. Didn't come with a tag just wrapped in a plastic bag and put in a raggidy rawlings box. Not like the Pro or hide. They come in a box and has a color leather tag. Ladies custom gets nothing. Custom 44 may not be the best but they show some customer appreciation. I got tags a personalized bag. Plus Rawlings screwed up my order. They put the wrong wristliner. That mistake cost them 20% off the glove.
Can you do a review of a Marucci C-mod? Their "Shift," version of C-mod is a two-in-the-pinky orientation.

I was thinking about getting a 44 outfield custom glove as well as Rawlings heart of the hide I had a Wilson glove before a ultimately made the decision to go back to Rawlings heart of the hide considering one of my first gloves I had as a kid was a Rawlings
I bought two 44 Gloves and they will not fit on my hand....a wooden spoon handle will not go in the fingers, but 44 Gloves says they are mine now. I threw them away.
How much do you enjoy the obsidian shell? Thinking about getting a new custom with it on it, do you honestly recommend it?
It feels great actually, I haven’t gotten to use it long term obviously but if you’re interested I would recommend it. Only down side is the creasing but once you break it in and use it that really doesn’t matter

Should you apply glove rub/ conditioner to other types like snakeskin, obsidian, etc?
Only if it’s actual leather, snakeskin, paisley or other leathers with a print in them probably won’t accept the conditioner very well but it shouldn’t cause any harm
You should start playing slowpitch competitively it’s fun, tournement ball is a whole new world and you’d be good

In the builder it is “palm text” its a little confusing but that’s the inside of the palm

There an option called “kip palm liner” and to be able to choose color you need to choose that

Have you tried the Rawlings 208 pattern? …something tells me a 12.5” PRO200 would feel amazing for softball.
That’s my gamer right now and I highly recommend it. Even if it’s another brand I just advise using 12.5 for middle infield

As a dad looking for my forever glove over the past two months and finally pulling the trigger on a 44 this past weekend w/ the Father’s Day sale, I’m regretting it already. The 44 back of the glove may be alligator skin, Lizard skin, Snake skin. Those type of leathers are easy to crease and are really smooth the front of the glove may be kip or steer hide unless yeah like you said there using cheaper leather and cheaper leather may be pigskin or deerskin but they are really soft leathers, Thank you for this review bro

the Rawlings looks 12.5 inches, and im a little surprised you didnt get a 12.5 inch for an infield glove. also a good tip is when getting a 44, you have to go to the outfield section to get 12.5 inches or bigger, and outfield gloves are narrow, so look at other brands first who offer a 12.5 inch infield glove
