Our good sis with the fro is a real foodie. She has food knowledge, the cooking skills, and plating.
He made an authentic Haitian spaghetti. They made a first generation one. The difference is simple. The money and availability of ingredients. The egg and hotdog is a protein source that is affordable. The sausage is simply not. Hillshire doesn’t have a farm in Haiti 😂

I luv cocoa butter videos. They entertaining while being interesting as well. It’s so interesting to see the different ways that each contestant prepare the dishes throughout the videos.
I LOVE that they posted girlie's recipe! She really nailed it and I DEFINITELY am gonna make it!!🎉❤🎉
I was raised in Haiti until the age of 14 and I am deeply invested in Haitian history and culture. In Haiti, people actually make it with not just the hot dogs but with herring (aransò) sometimes. And yes, the winner is right. We do sometimes have avocado, boiled eggs, and bread on the plate. What I do realize is that in the diaspora, we don't make 60 percent of the things that people make in Haiti and there are also variations within the dishes. All of that makes sense. People use what is available to them and people who grew up outside of Haiti do have different tastes based on what is acceptable in their society. I can see why people outside of Haiti often don't like the hot dogs in it. This is not how hot dogs are consumed where they grew up. You have to understand though. In Haiti, for a lot of people, hot dogs are just more accessible. Also, remember! Despite the country's size, its cuisine is incredibly diverse. Different regions do use different techniques and ingredients. Some examples --- In the North, we use a lot of cashews in sauces. In Artibonite and parts of the West, they tend to use coconut in cooking. I know people in Grand'Anse love making Tonm Tonm (fufu made with breadfruit). There are many more examples, but you get the gist.
Thanks for the insight! Fufu made from breadfruit sounds interesting. I’d love to try it.
thank you for this!
Omg I love Tom Tom with ocra sauce 🤤
Thanks for sharing all these nuggets!!!
Thank you for saying this! The culture itself is so diverse, depending on which city you go to so of course the food is just as unique
First girl is brining Haiti to shame. Lol. No epis? No to the eggs? No to the hot dogs? Meanwhile you making jerk spaghetti. Lmao.
Right, she should be embarrassed, the aunties would’ve ate her up if she gave them that plate 💀💀
That ain’t even jerk😭😂need more seasoning🙂
You can tell who the Americanized Haitians are 😂😂 talking about she cooked for a long time and it’s only been a year!
She used jerk in Haitian cuisine
She should be ashamed of herself
I’m so glad that you guys posted the recipe at the end! Ima for sure try it/
This made me miss Haitian food so much more. I grew up with two Haitian best friends. I used to eat so good at their house.
lol I'm confused, in Haiti, they always use hot dogs in spaghetti. The dish is traditionally cooked with hot dogs. Sausage in Haitian spaghetti is an American thing. Branly's dish was the closest to a traditional Haitian spaghetti. If they were about it, they would have used Aranso (salted dried fish) lol.
Yes to all of this!
THANK YOU BRUH I LOOOVE ARANSO IN MY SPAGHETTI AK ZE BOUYI
Yes! I was also confused
Exactly, who can afford sausage in Haiti, that's a luxury item.
Sausage taste better tho tbh
I loved all of their personalities. No one was nasty or rude towards their competitors
idk, seemed rude to me. but at least they still gave fair scores
🤨 I thought they were assholes
@@lang-ed3bkbc ur a softy bb 😘
@@IdgafIfYouMad ok "idgaf if you mad"
@@lang-ed3bkwhat's interesting, is that if we have a negativity bias...we can perceive a lot more as rude/offensive etc, than those who don't have that lens. This is a subconscious thing.
The studies of people who perceive neutral expressions as angry is interesting too, and there are different disorders that this is more prevalent in...as well as history of trauma can deeply influence this. Trying
to see the threat, before it gets you...makes us see threat where it doesn't exist sometimes. We can then respond as if there was a threat and create a threat! It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. That's why introspection and metacognition are good steps to take...then we can look under the hood and do the work, and be less offended and threatened. It's empowering and promotes more peace.
How interesting! I never knew there was a Haitian version of spaghetti. I love how versatile my Caribbean people are! My mom is from Surinam (technically a South-American country but has a Caribbean culture) and my dad’s from Curacao. Would love to see some taste testes from those countries!
Wowww. Ki ba hasi. Fakka i de? My family is from Curaçao and Surinam aswell. Yooo. They don't know we be eating! Curaçao cuisine and Surinam cuisine both fire.

@@rosiedollienah me neither!

honeslty johannas looked more like my familys and they straight from haiti
I don’t think the hot dog was the biggest problem they said that bih ain’t have no flavor
I love the woman with the Afro, she really put her foot in that plate and is definitely Haitian af wit that avocado on the side 😂
what does it mean to put a foot in the food? i've heard that term used a lot by the black people in these tasting channels. someone even said they put a little of their heel in it. i don't get why they say that? americans say "foot in the mouth" as a bad thing, but "foot in the food" sounds like a praise.
@@lang-ed3bk lol it just means that they did a really good job, it’s mostly wit food but can be used with other things
@lang-ed3bk It's like saying they were reallyy involved in that cooking. Like they put their all, almost walking right into it haha.
you're a disgrace being a black girl and referring to having long black hair as an afro. It's literally just long hair, but you call it an afro because of a words created and propogated by whites and jews. Blacks that don't speak english don't refer to their uncut hair as an afro. Native blacks don't refer to their homeland as 'africa'. When their skin gets dry they don't say they're "ashy". You're propagating a system created by whites and jews that you don't even fully understand, you don't understand the reason why the word "Africa" and "Afro" was created by white people and you use the word to define the texture of black people's hair while you post comments. You have dark skin but the hair texture of a white person who curled their hair. Wtf. Africa is a word created by white people, you see major companies defining black music artists as "Afro Pop" "Afro Soul" "Afro Beats" when they're the ones who created and pioneered music, only to have to have their works associated with a word literally created by the united nations
@@lang-ed3bk you are correct. to put your foot in your mouth is a phrase that basically means you said something incorrectly, usually adamantly wrong, and once proven wrong, the person is told to put their foot in their mouth as a way to silence them after their arrogance lol. But to put your foot in your food means that your food is VERY good, similar to you putting your heart and soul into a dish, the foot goes in there as well when it tastes like pure Heaven!

But it was still better than Branny’s. 😂
If I’m being real, I’m doubting the first girl even speaks creole. Fried hotdogs or sausages is honestly what makes Haitian spaghetti, Haitian spaghetti. It’s the key ingredient… without it and the egg/avocado it’s just spaghetti with seasoning

No surprises. Labanks looked like she can cook and did the damn thing.
I am Italian and Filipino and have tried Haitian spaghetti with egg and spicy sausage many times. It has tasted different each time but you can still tell it is Haitian style. The whole time all I can think is how strange it tasted and at the same time have to take another bite, it is really good if you don't think about what Italian/American spaghetti tastes like and try to compare, kind of like at Jollibees Filipino spaghetti, all you can think is why is it sweet and the hot dogs feel cheap, and then all of a sudden you are finished with it and order another plate to go. They are all good.
