As a Trini, I'm glad Eustacia came last with her fresh water Yankee accent!! First of all, saltfish is not only cooked by Trinibagonians, it's a delicacy in the whole of the Caribbean. Even in Latin Caribbean countries, they have saltfish but called bacalao!! Also, she got humbled with that funky attitude of hers!!
Using Salt Fish is mostly a English Caribbean thing, that originated in Portugal I think. A few other places use it, but they dont make it the way we do.

Grateful for the encounter at Lips... not to mention the food, drinks and overall community there is amazing! #FLATBUSH #LIPSCAFE #BLACKOWNEDBUSINESS #LITTLECARIBBEAN
All Caribbean countries make Saltfish differently. My mom is From the Grenadines and my dad is from Jamaica. They both cook it differently 😊. It also has to do with how the person likes it. I cook mines differently from both my parents.
Yep That's the main issue So if you not accustomed to how other countries make it, you will think the people cook it wrong. Trinis make saltfish buljol which has a lot of oil, while Jamaicans make with almost none, so to each other it will never be good enough
Bernice’s dish looks so favorable. I don’t eat much, but I’m honestly more willing to try hers than the others. She definitely added some love into it as well.
I wonder what would happen if everyone was from the same country. Different places make their foods differently; some people may be used to their country's style, but not others. I know you can still not like someone's dish from your country, but just curious.
but also she could have just simply said "I dont like how it looks, smells, tastes or the texture is not for me" but she was actually vicious and disrespectful....Backfired though and now the whole internet gets to see her make herself look like a jackass...for eternity
Everyone adds their own twist to traditional recipes , those handed down recipes from grandma had grandma's personal touch too...no household in any country cooks the same way , let alone different countries. If they had been from the same country this lady would have still been the one sipping haterade because it's just who she is.
Seeing Bernice and seeing her talking is adorable!! She seems like a sweet lady!! Eustacia on the other hand looks like the kind of person to bring other people down!
@@precious-g Yes, bc you can give constructive criticism without being rude. Spitting out food and doing all that extra, wasn’t necessary. Then you didn’t even win.
But she mess up representing Guyana, as she dont know to make something so basic for a Guyanese as Salt fish as a older adult. Guyanese had a history of girls learning to cook at a young age. Ting white, white and look like he didn't have any basic seasoning
OMG! Why are there so many comments talking about Jamaican representation? Jamaican culture and food is well known regarding the Caribbean. Can other Caribbean countries get highlighted for once? I have never seen anyone from St. Vincent on this channel. Like let some of the smaller, lesser known countries have their time to shine.
🇯🇲6:22 no because it's a part of Jamaica's National dish "Ackee and salt fish" and it doesn't only supposed to be prepared in Trinidad it can be prepared in all Caribbean Countries if they want to 🇯🇲
Thank you for including St. Vincent 🇻🇨🇻🇨! We are often excluded so this refreshing and entertaining! My mom makes saltfish all the time and I eat it up every time! 😋
Salt fish is apart of our Jamaican National dish, there’s a reason why we weren’t featured in this episode 😅🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲…love the bald head lady, humble n honest dweet
I read couple of reviews from the contestants, and they all said that the producers at least tell one of them to be rude and they apologized to the other contestants and the audience
Not surprised, they each seem to only like it the way they make it and they all made it so differently. Lady in blue was pretty mean for no reason though, they all had the same reactions to each others food but not everyone said it wasn't fit for animals.
Chick in the blue would have hated on her own dish if she didn’t know it was hers. “Alot of bitter people judging” ma’m you were the only bitter one judging! Lol
Stop, allyuh does soak salt fish with too much oil. Only people could eat that is Jamaicans. 😅 also, I’m glad the Vincy won too. The others had some serious issues with low self esteem… especially the trini.
I have tried saltfish from my Jamaican friend, I loved it with the ackee that they add to it, it was really good. For the blue blouse lady information; Saltfish is also prepared in the Dominican Republic. My grandma prepares the best saltfish ever.
The more I watch these tastings, across the different channels, the rude people instantly kill the vibe. Comparing things to dog food was so uncalled for. You can be honest and not rude. Hers actually looked decent, but I'm glad she lost. Please remind these folks there is no million dollar prize at the end. It's not that serious. Ugh.
Agreed. A lot of times, the larger Caribbean islanders think they are the best at everything especially cooking. But you can be confident of your dish and respectful to the others at the same time. It really isn't that hard.
@@curlygirly9158 it’s not restricted to the larger islands. some of the most disrespectful ones come from small islands too, it’s just more subtle. I think we have a regional culture that’s way too antagonistic and we all have work to do.

I was laughing so hard when they rated blue shirt dish and said it was salty, she marinated that fish with the pure strength of her ass and attitude, 😂 She threw a bananer in the dish and thought she was innovative😮. Lawd have mercy
You know someone doesn't know Caribbean food when they complain that a green banana and dumpling has no flavour. That's the point! You mix it with the saltfish!
The auntie from TnT was definitely putting on an act 😂😂😂😂 she could neva be serious. I loved the auntie from Guyana...I would eat everything off her plate...that wasnt too much food...variety is the spice of life. And yes it woulda been nice to see a Jamaica being represented but they always represent us so it's nice to see other islands being represented and how they prepare saltfish.
It's called salt fish. It's definitely supposed to have salt. This was very interesting because this isn't a set dish. Many eat it differently. As a Trini I was surprised that the oiliness was unwanted. That's literally how many do it. I also didn't know that Guyanese were unfamiliar with eating boiled green banana. Non of the Guyanese I know would have a problem with that. That Trini lady had such a disgusting attitude. She's certainly not representative of the avg. We many put food down but not go out of our way drag a person. All that dog food talk was unnecessary. It just might ruin her brand. I think you guys should redo this one with peoples of the same nation. Food differences are huge in the Caribbean diaspora.
Bu you can wreck it by leaving in too much salt from the fish. The salt is to preserve the fish , you try to wash out most of the salt, and add back some if you need to
@@zochbuppet448 I don't do mine like that. But I grew up on actual salted cod. The stuff I get these days you definitely can't boil. I soak it several times in hot water. It falls apart otherwise.
Yeah its different in different countries. In Jamaica the oil is only wanted if you’re eating it with ackee. I’ve actually never seen someone cook salt fish to where theres that much oil. Its sad how much they went down each others throat
I'm Puerto Rican and salt fish, or bacalao, is a traditional Puerto Rican dish. I find it wonderful that we are all from different islands, and have variations of the same dish. ❤

My partner and I met at Donna's cafe (Lips!) in Brooklyn the week before we went into shutdown for Covid. 3 years later and my partner and I are still rocking out! Grateful for the encounter at Lips... not to mention the food, drinks and overall community there is amazing! #FLATBUSH #LIPSCAFE #BLACKOWNEDBUSINESS #LITTLECARIBBEAN
saaaaaltfiiiiiiish
sweeta than anyting
been stuck in my head all day man lmao, i loved bernice so much
So proud of miss Donna. Vincy's can cook real good. We're the gem of the Antilles after all 🇻🇨💎😊
All Caribbean countries make Saltfish differently. My mom is From the Grenadines and my dad is from Jamaica. They both cook it differently 😊.
It also has to do with how the person likes it. I cook mines differently from both my parents.
I agree we Jamaicans can make salt fish in different ways. With calaloo, beans, ackee, and so on. Every culture makes there's different.
Ofc girly 💓
Yep
That's the main issue
So if you not accustomed to how other countries make it, you will think the people cook it wrong.
Trinis make saltfish buljol which has a lot of oil, while Jamaicans make with almost none, so to each other it will never be good enough
Better not let the lady in the blue hear about your parents cooking salt fish. She will come for them. 🤦🏽♂️
@@Theresonlyonetruth1 haha she was rough, but I ain’t scuured 😁😁😅🙈🙊
Bernice’s dish looks so favorable. I don’t eat much, but I’m honestly more willing to try hers than the others. She definitely added some love into it as well.
Nope its look bland and white for a Guyanese salt fish.
The Trini lady come with one set a big talk boy, and she loooooose!
I wonder what would happen if everyone was from the same country. Different places make their foods differently; some people may be used to their country's style, but not others. I know you can still not like someone's dish from your country, but just curious.
True different region of country will make differently. I have family from different parts of TT.
Email that suggestion to them

ITS FINALLY HERE
but also she could have just simply said "I dont like how it looks, smells, tastes or the texture is not for me" but she was actually vicious and disrespectful....Backfired though and now the whole internet gets to see her make herself look like a jackass...for eternity
Everyone adds their own twist to traditional recipes , those handed down recipes from grandma had grandma's personal touch too...no household in any country cooks the same way , let alone different countries. If they had been from the same country this lady would have still been the one sipping haterade because it's just who she is.
Finally some Guyanese representation!! 🇬🇾
Ikr
I said the same thing 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾
Yasssss 🇬🇾😁
Right
I’M SAYINGGGG 🥹🇬🇾🇬🇾
Seeing Bernice and seeing her talking is adorable!! She seems like a sweet lady!! Eustacia on the other hand looks like the kind of person to bring other people down!
She lost me when she said Saltfish should only be prepared by Trinidad???? What
I personally have eaten at Lips Cafe and I must say their saltfish is PHENOMENAL. The other ladies were biased 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
Especially the lady in blue omfg.
I'm glad the reactions to the results were brought back.
Yes me too because I always wondered 🤔
Me too cause whole time I was watching wishing I could see their reactions because I had a hunch the arrogant lady was gonna lose and I was right
Eustacia doing too much!!! I’m Trinidadian and we are not this rude good grief 🤦🏾♀️
Right? The Trinidadian people I know are sweet.
Truth but bluntness yes no different from some people from down south.
@@MsRose00 exactly I feel she was showing out for the video or she was vexed about something! That was too much rudeness
@@precious-g Yes, bc you can give constructive criticism without being rude. Spitting out food and doing all that extra, wasn’t necessary. Then you didn’t even win.
@@MsRose00 Exactly!!! I hope she watches the video and realizes how she was acting was very uncalled for
I love Bernice and her little jingle it’s so catchy
As a half Guyanese I was so happy to see a Guyanese women and Guyanese make the best saltfish🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾
❤❤❤ Guyana
Donna I’m so proud of you. As always you handled yourself with grace and poise. Miss you, love you!
I agree, being guyanese I was happy to finally see Guyana being represented on here 🇬🇾even if she didn’t win 🥰
Right? Jamaica is already well known lol, we love em bur let's big up the Lesser Antilles etc
Exactly! They feel they could do everything best
As a Jamaican, I completely agree! I love the representation of our Caribbean culture and cuisine!
@JE dang which Jamaican did you wrong? Lol stop hatin
mhmm vincy gyals do it the best
Yes please ! 🇻🇨
Yeah, Vincy food is the best! That blue shirt needs a slap!!
Big "Straker" just entered the room🇻🇨
Salt fish is apart of our Jamaican National dish, there’s a reason why we weren’t featured in this episode 😅🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲…love the bald head lady, humble n honest dweet
St Lucia too. That’s our national dish!!!!
One Don 👌🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Not the baldhead lady ...🤣🤣🤣
Seh di same ting 😂
It was blue shirt changing her lipstick for me😂 this one was hilarious. Caribbean moms don’t play
Bernice was so nice, she's my fave in this video
Ms. Bernice took that like a champ. So humble 💕
I always cringe when I see us down each other. There's a way to compete without the harshness! 😒
And it's always us as Black women. Everyone else is funny without bringing each other down, even the kids.
I read couple of reviews from the contestants, and they all said that the producers at least tell one of them to be rude and they apologized to the other contestants and the audience
@@renaesmith1790 See... that'll make me UNFOLLOW altogether. Not cool, if this is true.
@@renaesmith1790 😳
@@ErikaF8 It's an un-subscribe from me, no thank you ma'am!
Not surprised, they each seem to only like it the way they make it and they all made it so differently. Lady in blue was pretty mean for no reason though, they all had the same reactions to each others food but not everyone said it wasn't fit for animals.
8:49 bitter????? 😂😅…. Girllll
Right! She was the only one being bitter! She rated the others really low, thinking she was going to win.
Chick in the blue would have hated on her own dish if she didn’t know it was hers. “Alot of bitter people judging” ma’m you were the only bitter one judging! Lol
I believe she would have too.
I don’t know her and from watching this video I don’t think I want to. She was just sorry in general. What a sh*tshow!
The lady in the blue shirt is something else. 😆
No humility whatsoever. So not classy and poor representation of a Caribbean island
Yes rude
If a Jamaican mom was there she would’ve swept the floor 🇯🇲🇯🇲❤️🔥 loll but I’m glad it was someone who wasn’t extra af who won! 🥰
Yessss
My mom might not make the best salt fish but damn it is GOOD 🤤🤤🤤🤤😋😋
No doubt about it
🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Stop, allyuh does soak salt fish with too much oil. Only people could eat that is Jamaicans. 😅 also, I’m glad the Vincy won too. The others had some serious issues with low self esteem… especially the trini.
@@HiLaToyashut yuh phucking yabba mouth, Jamaicans has 15 different ways to prepare salt fish, so depends on the type of salt fish dish.
I have tried saltfish from my Jamaican friend, I loved it with the ackee that they add to it, it was really good. For the blue blouse lady information; Saltfish is also prepared in the Dominican Republic. My grandma prepares the best saltfish ever.
Donna was so sweet and respectful im happy she won also her saltfish did look the most appetizing
Literally not that serious !
@@Nara26177 it is
@@itzrihanna2011 no I’m saying it’s not that serious for them to be so rude and nasty. It should be a fun competition. I’m agreeing with the person who commented lol
Loved this! Miss Bernice is a spitting image of my grandmother 🩷🇬🇾
This a lesson for a lot of people that Caribbean women are the biggest critics
blue shirt was saltier than the saltfish itself
🤭😂
lol!
"Blue shirt" LOL 😂
💯
The lady in the blue tank top had me hollering 😂😂😭 She did do the most rating people food at the same time she funny asf 😂😂 If you don’t like the food just say you don’t like it 😂 It’s clear she preferred her food more on the salty side & a sore loser 😂😂
Yep. The food looked seasoned so I'm sure it had taste. She just would've preferred some more salt.
Right and it was funny when she said that one of the dishes didn't have enough oil and they tried her dish saying that it was too oily lol!😂
Yeah she was jealous and aggressive but I'm glad Donna won
I was laughing so hard when they rated blue shirt dish and said it was salty, she marinated that fish with the pure strength of her ass and attitude, 😂 She threw a bananer in the dish and thought she was innovative😮. Lawd have mercy
You know someone doesn't know Caribbean food when they complain that a green banana and dumpling has no flavour. That's the point! You mix it with the saltfish!
Exactly 😂 jamaicans and dominicans beats all these other countries
Y’all gotta have blue shirt back and have her try her own dish 😂
Lmaooo 😭 😭 😭 😭 she was dramatic af
She would rate herself a 4 and say all she tasting is salt 😂
The auntie from TnT was definitely putting on an act 😂😂😂😂 she could neva be serious. I loved the auntie from Guyana...I would eat everything off her plate...that wasnt too much food...variety is the spice of life. And yes it woulda been nice to see a Jamaica being represented but they always represent us so it's nice to see other islands being represented and how they prepare saltfish.
thats how my grandmother cooks. little bit of everything. i tell her cook 3 things and she makes 6.
No matter what i always clean my plate lol.
I would love to know her company because she is just a disgusting human being.
Yup yup, I agree
The lady in blue may be fun to party with but definitely don’t compete with her.
“To the winner, good riddance!” She literally plots on your downfall when you win!😆😂🤣
Bad mind is active, like Beenie said. 😂😂
Sounds to me that each country does theirs differently. Should be a comparison with ppl from the same country. Then we’ll have a fair competition
True also blindfolded.
One not even in the Caribbean 👀
@@maliceinwonderland99 All those countries are mapped as Caribbean countries. Guyana is not a South American country, despite being on the South American continent.
@@HandleUnclear How? That makes no logical sense. If it's on the South American continent, then it sure as hell would be a South American country. That's like saying Mexico isn't a part of North America or Iran/India isn't a part of Asia cause the culture is different, not even trying to be rude but just cause it's a part of the West Indies doesn't suddenly make it not a South American country when it's LITERALLY attached to the continent
@@elpink5424 Google it, I grew up in Jamaica, we learned Guyana is Caribbean country due to colonial reasons. The internet is free and I'm not here to educate people like yourself.
Even though she lost, I would eat white shirt's dish first, based on her personality alone. 💛
Blue shirt with her mouth, can keep her stuff. That's what I call rude food.
I love the confidence in these women. Just goes to show that even though their countries are close to one another, they still have their own distinct cultures and tastes.
As a Puerto Rican we eat Salt Fish too. We call it Bacalao 🐠 🇵🇷
My mother in law makes it all the time. Hers is soooo good! She’s Puerto Rican as well.
Yes con belduras... My favorite is with the olive oil but guisado good too
I'm Calabrian. We have cod that we call baccalà
I love Bacalao
❤❤all us caribbeans eat salt fish

Talk truth

accurate
@Dat Active Guy Fact 💯🇯🇲🇯🇲😂
🔥🔥🔥🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
As a Trinidadian and Jamaican this video is hard to watch without laughing 😂
“what makes our saltfish good?”
“our music”
