You could design and refit canal boats for a living, yours is one of the best interiors I have seen; great decor lovely colours and two lovely people and one lovely dog in it.
Always look forward to Wednesdays.
Thank you so much Jayne. I love interior design. I actually miss it quote a bit I use to redecorate my house every few months so I miss not having a room or project on the go so doing this vlog and reminding myself of what we achieved has been great. 😀
Absolutely beautiful, could easily feature in an interiors magazine.
Thank you Tracy. We did actually have a 3 page spread in Waterways magazine so we were really chuffed with that 😉😊
A true labour of love. Congrats on the lovely house you've built
Thank you use much 😃
A pleasure to watch with two people who know what they’re doing and with such innovative ideas 👍
Thank you so much. 😉😄
Fantastic Liz, Paul and Ernie. Complete admiration to you both for such a fantastic transformation. I always thought your boat looked lovely, but didn't realise you had achieved it with your own hard slog. So well done👍
Thank you Jan. It was great reminding ourselves by putting the videos all together of how far we've come, it's easy to forget how we started out 😀
Looks a beautiful home for you all to enjoy the lifestyle. A lot of hard work but he decor is lovely. Luv to Ernie 🦮x.
Thank you Valerie 😀
I've followed you for ages but I started when you were doing the steps so it was nice to watch it all. Paul you are amazing with your carpentry and have done amazing job. Both of you have made it look amazing we'll done! xxx
Thank you so much Sandra. Hope the speed of the video didn't hurt your eyes too much. We wanted to fit in a much as we could in 20mins 😃
As one of your earliest subscribers, seeing the time-lapse brought back memories! --Dan
It did for us too Dan, remembering how far we have come, it's easily forgotten when you going about the daily boat chores on the cut. Thank you so much for continuing to watch us and join us on our journey 😀
We look forward to wednesdays to see your vlogs, such a lovely couple, great personalities and humour. And off course the lovely Earnie , cant wait for him to meet Rodney. What you have achieved is inspiringing ,the thought put into the design and quality and skill of workmanship is amazing. You will definatly get a call when we get our boat 😂 ❤❤
Really looking forward to seeing what boat you get and of course happy to help with any inspiration, design etc. Hope are both well. Send us through some boat pics once you start looking 😀😀
Hubby seems so patient working on the boat build. Nice job to you both. Ernie also cause we know he helped.
Ernie definitely helped he was the supervisor the whole way through 🤣
This is excellent! so inspiring. You've done an amazing job on the boat.
I'd also like to add that Ernie is the best DIY supervisor ever! Claire x
Thank you so much Claire. We couldn't have done it with our Ernie the supervisor 😉😄
beautiful well done to you both. and ernie xx
Thank you so much Sally 😀
Really must come & say hello , we’re so close to you and about to set sail again
Yes definitely pop by before you go if you are close. Can't see any boats around us. Can you see us then? Drop us a message via Facebook or Instagram if you're on there. 😄
I watch your remodel from the first and out of all the narrowboat remodeling your boat is the best have ❤it from USA
Thank you so much Sherri. I do regret having a white bathroom floor though 🤣😄
We have watched you from the start,,,,You two have done one hell of a job!
Thank you so much Ian for you lovely comment and for following us from the beginning 😊 😀
Love, love, love your boat. And the two of you 🙂
Argh thank you so much Inger 😍
Looks fabulous! You’ve done a great job between you. Loved the time lapse! Ernie looks to be as helpful as our two when there’s work to be done 😂
Thank you so much 😀 Ernie, forever the supervisor and task master 🤣
I have allways said I love your boat. You two worked hard sonyou should be very proud of yourselves 😊
Thank you so much, its easy to forget how far we have come on this journey amd it was so nice to remind ourselves when digging through all the renovation videos 😃
@@uponreflection honestly you know I have watched you from the start and it's mind blowing what you have done ✔️ 😀
Thank you 😍
Lovely, fresh and soothing colours
Thank you Lorraine 😊
crackin' narrowboat ✌️
Thank you so much 😃
Nice to go back and see what you did, even though I have watched every episode and loved every minute. The decor is lovely, great taste. You both certainly know what you are doing.
Thanks Diana and thanks for watching all of our videos from the start, means a lot to us 😀 It was so nice looking back through the videos when creating this week's vlog and remember how far we've come 😀
You guys have done an absoltely smashing job, it is all done with excellent craftmanship, good taste and teamwork, surely mainly due to your supervisor Ernie, now it is time to enjoy all of your hard work 👍👍👍.
Thank you so much. We certainly are enjoying our new life on the cut 😀
One of best design, build and beautifully finished narrow boats I have ever seen. Awesome job.
Thank you so much 😀
You've definatley added value to that boat, to be honest it looks like a home rather than the average narrowboat you see, Liz is the interior designer and Paul your just the builder haha! :) when I first saw you I thought just another refit channel? How wrong could I have been! I've enjoyed every vlog with your skills and humour, I think the canals are a better place with you pair on them :) Paul you failed saw ya lips move it wasn't Ernie lol :)
Ha ha ha sometimes Ernie gets camera shy so Paul moves his lips so he doesn't feel alone 🤣 No honeslty though Steven, thank you so much for your lovely comment and watching our vlogs we truly appreciate it and look forward to reading your comments every week. 😊
I had forgotten the boat was originally green!!
Oh yes the lovely bright kermit green 🤣
Brilliant, glad to see it again
It was so good to look back through the footage and remind ourselves how far we've come. Easy to forget when out and about on the cut doing daily boat chores 🤣😀
LOVED this.... Once I found you guys, I went from episode 1 and binged.... I love Your videos.. really well done... this was a nice refresher... You didn't show what you did w the stern or, I recall color and curtain changes, lol...
I will say, your reno is my absolute FAVORITE!!! Love you guys!!
Thank you so much. We didn't really do anything with the stern except paint it which was seen in the exterior part of this video. I know I missed out the colour change in the lounge but for some reason I could seem to find any footage of that. Thanks for watching all our videos and continuing to follow our journey. We really do appreciate it 😀😀
Great to see the renovation in 1 video, you both did a fantastic job
Thanks Gary 😀
Hello guys 👋 You have truly created a beautiful home ❤ Wow the amount of work and attention to detail you have done has definitely made it the nicest narrowboat I have come across on TH-cam. You must both be so proud and happy when you look around 😍. Have a blessed week 🙏
Thank you Vicky. We do love our little cosy home, although I don't think it will be long before I maybe change the bedroom colour..I used to redecorate my house every few months so I'm already quite itchy to get a paint brush back in my hand 🤣😃
@@uponreflection well you are such a talented artist so you probably have new ideas with the change in seasons 😊. As they say a change is as good as a rest as well ❤️
Hi yous two. It's Dave and Diane on Tickerty Boo. How are you, and where are you? We are home on land right now. Just love this video. It reminds us of ourselves 12 years ago. I spent 3 years tearing that boat apart and totally refitting it. Now I'm doing it all over again with Tickerty Boo. Your boat has been wonderfully transformed. Well done both of you !!
We were admiring your LED roof lights, which you can turn off individually. Would you mind telling us where you got them, please? Anyway. Hopefully, our paths will cross again soon. Near a pub would be nice. Dave and Diane xx
Hi Dave and Diane from nb Tickerty Boo. We are on the Coventry Canal at the moment heading North. The lights are from amazon type in 'Marvic 4 x led 12v spot light' and they should come up. Hope to see you out on the cut again soon, what are your next cruising plans?
Hi. Thanks very much for the information. I will be buying some. Cheers. We go back to the boat second week of march. Not decided where we are going. All depends on the stoppages.
We might go down the Buckby locks. And cruise the GU until its time to turn back. We have done the Braunston locks to death. We love this time of year on the boat. As its so quiet. Very few hire boats. So most passing boats slow down. Unlike efin hire boats. I see you have had so many complimentary comments on the vlog. Makes it all worth while doesn't it. Is it now finished. Daft question really. Cos there is always something to mend. Stay safe both. Dave and Diane xx
Bravo! You two are phenomenal and what a lovely boat! Thank you for sharing! Sending love from Florida, US of A.
Thank you so much 😍
Lovely to see it all again, you are a really talented team who carried off your vision to perfection.
Thank you so much Jean. It was nice to go through the old videos and remind ourselves how far we've come 😄
This is the best video I’ve seen for a long time. Well done.
Thank you that's so nice 😊
We've been watching you for ages it was so good to see how it all started, must apologise hadn't subscribed 😢 thought I had. Have now.
Thank you Jackie for watching, following and now subscribing. We appreciate it and love having you along on our adventures. It was nice recreating this time lapse video and reminding our selves how far we've come. It's quite easy to forget when your out and about doing daily boat chores, where it all started. 😀
Thanks, my wife asked why I can’t work that fast !!
Ha ha ha 😂 sorry about the Richard 🤣
Beautiful you have done a fantastic job on the boat. You both are very creative and clever. Love the colours. Take care on your journeys xx
Thanks so much! 😊
*Kia ora & morena Liz, Paul & Ernie 🙂 Liz, wow you really put a lot of time& mahi (work) into editing 8 months worth into 19.29 minutes. So a HUGE thank you for this look back. Paul being so meticulous in his work. Plus you being meticulous with your designing & painting. Ernie supervising thru out too. 🙂 I have been a sub, since the beginning, so it was great to be reminded of all the hard mahi (work) you have done... even if i didn't agree with the pink lol. Looking forward to what hijinks and adventures, you three get up to in 2024 & beyond 🙂NZ*
Thank you Andrea, it was nice to remind ourselves of how far we've come, it's easy to forget when out on the canals doing daily boat chores. Yes, yes I know the pink..I have been thinking of repainting that, but not yet. In my house I would decorate every few mo the but Paul would probably kill me if I started doing that on the boat 🤣 but, I can promise that when I do re decorate the pink bedroom will be the first one to be done 😉
So professionally compiled and so very creative. We’ve followed you from the start, it was wonderful seeing those images again in time-lapse.
Thanks Ian. It was good to dig through the videos and remind us how far we've come, quite easy to forget out here on tue cut doing daily boat chores. Tha ks for watching from the start and continuing to join us 😀
Quite a transformation! I bet that was a challenging edit! 🙂
Thanks, yeah it was a task for sure but nice to look back on all the renovation videos again 😀
What a beautiful boat the interior design is the best I have seen excellent taste ❤
Wow, thank you so much 😀 😍
Hi. I have just come across your (time lapse) video. I have to say I'm very impressed, it looks lovely. Congratulations on such a good job. I look forward to seeing your weekly vlogs.
Take care and stay safe.
Thank you Yvonne and we welcome you are glad to have you along with us on our narroeboat journey 😀
Fabulous video!!! Love my Thursday mornings here in Oz watching you guys. ❤❤
Thank you so much for watching from Oz. 😃😃
Quite the pair!!! Beautiful!
Thank you so much 😀
That was absolutely well put together.... well done...
Thank you Lyn, it was quite a nice reminder of how far we've come when digging through all the old video footage 😀
Nice job, like what you have done with the boat. You have also made a good job of telling the story of the refurbishment, I liked the music . Keep on cruising.
Thanks Robin. 😀
I thoroughly enjoyed this well done video. You have created a lovely home with a unique and restful interior. You both are talented and skillful, and work together very comfortably, though I am sure there had to be some rough moments. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
Thank you so much. And yes you're right there were things that went wrong within those 8months and some things that set us back a bit considering it's a boat and we knew pretty much nothing about boats until purchasing this one 🤣😃
Great video. Brings back memories of all the videos
Thank you. It was nice to refresh our memories of the work we had put in to our now home. 😀
Nice video you done a great job Working together I have watched every one But the foreman was good as well love Ernie you take care out there can’t wait to next Wednesday
Thanks Roger. See you Wednesday for normal vlog release 😃
I love your boat ❤ such a lovely interior.
Thank you Rachael 😀
Wow that was truly inspiring. Thanks for sharing. The whole boat looks beautiful 😊
Thank you so much 😀
What an excellent transformation ! You should both be very proud of your achievement 😊 wish i had those skills to undertake sone projects. Cheers for sharing
Thank you so much Kevin 😀
Its so funny, I have been off with a bad back (thats not funny) and watched all yout DIY videos again and only finished them this afternoon, then you post this. I just LOVE your boat, Paul is such a talented carpenter and you have such a great design talent. Its beautiful! Best wishes Christine x (Orpington),
Thank you Christine so much for sitting through all our videos again. I do hope your back gets better soon. You are from Orpington. Small world, we lived in Orpington for 10years or so before we moved to Aylesford and obviously before we then moved onto a boat 🤣😃
@@uponreflection I know, we had that conversation back when you first started vlogging, I thought I might jog your memory but you must have had hundreds of 'conversations' since then. Best wishes to you both, I am loving your journey. C x
Sorry Christine, I do vaguely remember the convo now you've mentioned it 🤣 honeslty I'm the person that forgets what they got up from the sofa for 🤣😃
Please explain what the phrase, 'Assumption Is', is in reference to.
Great video, Liz and the music was spot on. Loved watching Ernie as he stayed close by your every renovation move. Precious boy. Take care of yourselves, be well and hugs to you three ~ Lacy, Mike & Hamish🤗💕🐾
PS. My favorite part is the stairs at the back as it offers so much more space, with those tiles and the inset with stars~beautifully executed. ⭐⭐⭐
Thank you so much and yep Ernie supervised us and made sure we were in task the whole way through 🤣 unfortunately there is no story behind it that we can tell as it's the name the previous owner gave the boat. We were due to rename her 'Reflection' hence the channel name upon reflection but knew that it was unlucky when she was in the water and when she was out of the water there was problems with the survey and the engine that we didn't rename and stuck with Assumption Is. 😃
You both did a lovly job love it all its stunning and Ernie supervised
Thanks Dawn. Ernie was a task master throughout 🤣😀
That was soooo well put together. Brilliant. And I totally love what you have done to your now gorgeous boat and home. You are both so talented. Best wishes ❤
Thank you very much Trevor. It was good to look back at the renovation videos while putting this together 😃
Just found your channel and totally love it!
Thank you so much 😀
Absolutely loved this video, well done guys 👏 Love to you lovely trio 👍😃
Thank you so much James 😀
Nice to meet you Guys if your going to Crick show. Happy cruising 👍🏼
Hi Nick, we hope to go but unsure which day yet, we haven't got advanced tickets so we will buy on the gate when we see which day is better weather. 😉😃
@@uponreflection let us all know😎it’s are home mooring so will be there. 👍🏼
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you! 😊
Just caught up on all your new year videos.
Always love your content.
Happy new year to you both and ernie. We have 4 pups of our own and they love seeing ernie in the videos.
God bless and thank you for all you do.
Much love and good wishes from Ohio, USA.
Thank you so much for watching us and catching up. Wow, 4 pups that sounds a handful 😉
Looks amazing well done.
Thank you so much Ronald 😀
Truly outstanding craftsmanship by all three of you. Did Ernie pick the colours? Paul what was your occupation prior to boat life? Your workmanship is faultless. Liz, as for your paint work, you are truly a talented individual, something you should be proud of. Thank you for sharing this part of your life.
Mark
Alberta, Canada
Thank you so much Mark. Ernie didn't pick the colours but he worked us hard and supervised our every move 🤣 Paul had his own joinery business before boatlife and me..I'm at my happiest with a paint brush in hand 😉😃
Amazing job, thanks for sharing. The finish is beautiful. The time lapse video is inspiring. I am a new subscriber, looking forward to seeing your travels.
Thank you Phil and thanks for subscribing. We look forward to having you along with us 😀 We release every Wednesday at 6pm so hope to see you next week 😃
Nice work.
Thank you so much 😀
Wow superb
Thanks 🤗
I think you should be advising the lovely robots .you have done a beautiful job. Can you nip round my house sometime xx
Thank you so much 😀 happy to nip round if you have room for us to park the boat up outside 🤣😉😃
@@uponreflection that should have read CROBOTSxx
Ha ha yep I guessed you may have meant the crobots 😃
Some seriously good skills there (except for the ventriloquism at the end - we could see the dog's lips moving while he made you talk). ;)
Thank you..The lips move to ensure people don't actually realise we have a talking dog, we don't want him to be nicked after all 🤣🤣
@@uponreflectionHe is a lovely dog - even my wife says that and she was born and raised in a Muslim country where dogs are pretty much taboo.
Absolutely beautiful boat. You both should be very proud of it. Just come a across the channel and have subscribed. Do you mind me asking what black paint you used for the exterior windows and what prep ( assume a light rub down? ) as they look great. Cheers Darren & Wendy
Thank you so much Darren and Wendy. I think it was hammerite direct to metal paint. Just check what metal it covers 😊
Easy peasy lemon squeezy 🤣🤣🤣
It was really good looking back at all your hard work. You did a really good job. How old is your boat?
Thanks Ann. Our boat was built in 1999 😃
@@uponreflection It was in a good condition for it's age. It now looks like a new boat. I love how you did the external lines.
Have a good week 👍
@annclark5082 thank you 😊
Love it!! ❤
Can I ask where you got your shower door from and what height you used? Have been trying to find some reduced height shower doors for a while and am struggling haha xxx
Thank you. The shower is from bathroom mountain online it's an 800 quandrant shower and it's 90inches in height including the base 😀
Hi new sub here
Thank you so much for subscribing 😀
Hi, I love your work, I'm currently designing my own narrowboat interior for a purchase later this year, I'd love to inow how long it took for you to finalize your design and how much it changed during construction. Great work.
Hi there. We actually put deposit on boat in August 2022 and got the keys in December due to engine problems so during those months is when we worked out the design we wanted. We spent 8mnths renovating her every weekend whilst we remianed living in a house and then moved on to her full time at the end of July 2023. It did change a couple of times during the process. The entrance to the boat (the stairs) were originally going to be curved and the breakfast bar was planned to be on the other side but as we were constructing things we adjusted our plans to suit the build better. There are a couple of things that I would possibly think longer over for example I was ademant that I didn't want a dinette and sometimes I do wish I had maybe considered adding one as it would be nice to have had a table to sit down to rather than a breakfast bar. Also, a big change would be the bathroom floor colour, not very practical being white especially as we have a multi fuel stove that provides us with lots of dust during winter months 🤣 my advise would be to spend a bit of time on the boat or a boat and really think what works for you. Our changes happened as we spent more time on the boat and discovered that parts of our original plans just wouldn't be practical. 😀
@@uponreflection Thanks for your response, I'm an ex product designer and just itching to try some new ideas, the great thing with a Narrow Boat is there really aren't any rules and everyone is so individual. :) Did you get the boat as a sail away option boarded out and all the electrics and plumbing installed or did you do that as well?
9 have to know what it cost to do all that
So when I buy a boat I can consider it or not.
Hi there, hard to put an exact price on it as Paul was a joiner so got a lot of the wood at cost but roughly spent about 15k including appliances but not including electrical/solar set up. 😀
what I thought 12 to 15 k.
why do we people 'change' when we get in front of a rolling camera?
what happens, that makes us 'apologise' for how we are?
It's rooted in the patriarchal system.
In the earlier days of filming I use to find my voice changed when I was speaking into the camera, but after a few videos we kind of got used to it and found it a lot more natural, nowadays we film without even thinking about it 😉😊
That’s a fantastic job very skilled work
Thank you so much Peter 😀
@@uponreflection it’s class best I’ve seen after 9 years on the cut
Wow thank you Peter 😊 😍
