    Careful though-many Essential Oils are Toxic to Cats and Dogs. Please look them up beverages it only takes a minute and they will love you for it! We lost our sweet cat this way (they have very small lungs and I promised her I would let people know so their pets don’t suffer

      I searched the list of essentials oils that are toxic to cats as soon as I've read your comment. I'm confused though for some website says Ylang-Ylang are toxic to cats, but some website says it's safe. I just purchased an Ylang-Ylang oil, and I'm scared to use it for I have 9 cats and I don't want them to suffer :(

    • @AromaHutInstitute

      How were you planning on using your ylang ylang? I would not diffuse it because its so strong and gives me a headache. I can use a drop or so for a roller blend but never use it for aromatic diffusing.

  • @Brisco1

    I'm just now getting (back) into essential oils for myself! I'd been craving some sandalwood as I absolutely love it, then I added a few more: bergamot, geranium & patchouli. I've never been a fan of patchouli on its own, but figured it could add a masculine depth to counterbalance the floral geranium. When I first inhaled my concoction it actually gave me a headache that lasted until the next day! I was about to throw the vial away but then thought I'd give it another shot by diluting the mixture with a lot more sandalwood & bergamot. I'm really impressed with the result! Apparently both patchouli and geranium are EXTREMELY potent and you only need a tiny bit of each. It's a lot of fun experimenting!

    • @AromaHutInstitute
      @AromaHutInstitute  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I also almost made the same mistake. My Dior Sauvage blend actually was awful from the geranium, but after a couple of weeks, it turned into the most beautiful perfume! I was shocked.

    Thank you, Ms. Rebecca for this information, I just want to know when you add 1-2-3 drops of essential oils of your choice, what do you use to dilute them in. any carrier oil? can you explain please.

    • @AromaHutInstitute
      @AromaHutInstitute  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you will want to dilute your essential oils with a carrier such as fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, or almond oil, etc. You can also use sea salts or lotion or cream. It will depend on what type of product you are going to make.

  • @suzannevanderwesthuizen9984

    Hi Rebecca. I have ALWAYS wanted to make my own perfumes. For Christmas, my daughter gifted me with money to go and buy a perfume of my choice! However, I couldn't find ANYTHING I liked. So I got to thinking I will realize my wish of making my own NATURAL perfume! I suppose I was a bit overeager because I still don't know if I chose correctly! What I chose was 'Sweet Almond' as a carrier oil, 'Rosewood blend' as a base note, 'Cajeput' as a middle note and 'Tangerine' as a top note. I will be adding to my essential oil collection as soon as I can! I would love to know ratios from start (carrier oil) to finish (top note) and the best containers and mixing equipment etc... EVERYTHING! :) Any other advice you can give... Thank you for a GREAT channel!

      So glad to hear about your interest in making perfume. Do you work with smell strips (perfume strips to test oils together). This way you won't ruin your blend or make something that you end up later hating.

      You can have multiple notes (2 or 3 base notes), but it will still need to be same percentage. For instance, if you have 6 drops of top note (you can use two different top notes like lemon and orange and use 3 drops of each totaling 6 drops).

      Yes, they do smell better in most cases after a few days. However, keep in mind that once you add a carrier oil, the clock is ticking (shelf life). Some carrier oils can go rancid...This is why I choose coconut oil or jojoba oil often, because these have an unlimited shelf life.

    Wow. God has put on my heart to start a candle business using only natural waxes and essential oils for scents since most candles are full of chemicals. I made my first candle and quickly realized I know nothing about blending essential oils 😅 I said a prayer just yesterday for wisdom and knowledge for my candle business and here you are… and you’re a believer! God is sooo good 🙌🏽 Going to get your book asap but if you have any wisdom to share about the use of essential oils in candles I would love to chat! God bless you 💜

      How much you use of two oils is totally up to you and your personal preference. You can do 50:50 or add more of one oil to make that the dominate oil. Is this going to be a cologne? Do you know if the oils are top, middle or base notes?

      @@ARFragrances Sounds nice. Typically, you won't want to use as much base notes as top notes. As you blend, you will notice the top notes get lost in the heavier oils like musk and sandalwood. So, for every drop of sandalwood, you might use three drops of bergamot. You can use your jasmine and floral as your middle notes.
