  • While I’m not the best ‘ōleo speaker in the world, I feel the mana and the Aloha through song, video and voice. So when I was offered to film the Maunakea meet up at Mākaha Beach, I thought deeper and wanted to make a second video. I tried looking for songs, but nothing fit...until now. I am a kanaka maoli. Hawaiian. A mixed plate from all kinds of generations and ethnicities. All of my ancestors have suffered enough. So many tv shows and news articles have proven that TMT isn’t the only thing that will make a difference with our land and people. It’s not THE place to have jobs and make a “mark” in history. Make affordable living, fix the DAMN RAIL, make public transportation even more efficient. Helping and fixing hawai’i’s broken political system and start putting people first. The people that need it most. The people loudly and softly crying for help. Put the best teachers to work and don’t skim over them to give us teachers and don’t know how to engage with a class. Ho’olohe, listen. Do not let your ego get in the way of making decisions. Choose your gut; your na’au. I hope you all enjoyed the video and my little rant 😁🤙🏽 let me know what you liked about the video and so forth! And please don’t forget to share with everyone to show that we are still #kapualoha , that we are the #maunamajority . We stand for #maunakea 🙌🏽🤙🏽 Eō! “Kū Haʻaheo e Kuʻu Hawaiʻi”

Mahalo for the wonderful video and for your "rant". Kumu Hina's wonderful composition has resonated all over the diaspora. From Oakland CA in 2021

It's a powerful & moving song, video and message. Thank you for sharing.
Is there a translation of the words? (I wasn't sure if the description at the start of the comments are the words to the song).

      Translation
The sea of Hawai’i surges in turmoil
The earth of Haumea rumbles and shakes
The highest heavens shudder up above
Alas! Woeful indeed are the heartless foreigners

      *Stand tall my Hawai’i
Band of warriors of my land
The new dawn for our people of Hawai’i is upon us
For my nation I give my all so that our legacy lives on

Where are you soldiers of Keawe
Along with those of Maui and O’ahu
Unite, join together with those of Kaua’i
Marching alongside the descendants of Ni’ihau

Move forward young ones and drink of the bitter waters
Be fearless, steadfast for there is no turning back
Let’s press onward straight on the path of victory
Alas! Woeful are the heartless foreigners!

Be honored always oh beloved descendants of the land
Let us wear the honored ‘a’ali’i of our beloved land
Paddle on in our pursuit of civil justice
Until our dignity and independence is restored
