I think a Wicked land could have two sections with one being about Munchkin land and that area could either have a family ride or a stage show celebrating the death of the Witch of the East. The other area would be about the land of Oz where the E ticket dark ride is which shows us that the Witch of the East is not really death and she has come back for revenge on the Wizard who we end up finding out is the real villain of the story we where told as kids and I would put all of this in Epic Universe
Unique ideas and concepts and I can tell there’s a vision in this but a wicked land I’d argue could never be made beyond this movie the franchise has been struggling for air universal has so many popular franchises most don’t even have rides let alone lands they are more likely to put a different legacy franchise ride than wizzard of oz plus there is very little room for growth this movie is based on the musical by the same name and to my knowledge there are no other plays that follow it in the same universe so they can’t capitalize on a land with it like with other franchises that can make more movies to sell more merch and tickets
So my idea really is for the expansion plot at epic universe between dragons and HP. We enter through the portal, sparkling with green emeralds.we emerge into munchkin land and would be the bulk of the shops and food offerings, there would also be a show in a building made to look like the clock from the stage show stage. This show would feature a condensed version of the musical, with shortened versions of the songs ending with defying gravity. However just down the road, we see the emerald city sparkling in the distance using forced perspective. This is the entrance for the E ticket where you pass through familiar locations of the emerald city before entering the wizards chambers with a puppet head like what universal Singapore has now. Long story short, you end up on the run with Elphaba as she enchants some furniture to fly, as you run amok through locations in oz facing against guards, oz, flying monkeys, and more. Edit: if you really trim the baby fat and streamline, you could do most of the songs in act one (or the first film) in just over half an hour. When the second film comes out you can alternate the showings or cut the smaller songs like “something bad”, “im not that girl” “dear old shiz” “sentimental man””wonderful” etc. and you’d have about a runtime of around 40 minutes which is a tad longer but not impossible
I think all 3 parks could have Wicked/Wizard of Oz theme lands Universal Studios - Munchkin Land Islands of Adventure - Shiz University Epic Adventure - Emerald City
After the movie, I kept thinking that it would be amazing if Universal made a land inspired on Wicked. The set design on the movies was crazy. they could do a train to Emerald City ride, a ride using some sort of flying on a broomstick å la "defying gravity", a rollercoaster for little ones inspired on Munchkin Land... so many ideas on an IP that is super rich and colorful, theme park excellence. Honestly if universal wants me they can consult me and I gladly brainstorm for them.
If I make a Wicked-themed expansion in Epic Universe, I can already imagine a portal with a witch's hat on top and "everyone deserves the chance to fly!" engraved on it. Upon entering, guests will step on the Yellow Brick Road to Wicked--World of Oz. It will be divided into two sub-areas: Shiz University and Emerald City. In Shiz University, guests embark on a dark boat ride winding through the canals of the campus, as animatronic figures retell the story of how Elphaba and Glinda first met and became friends. There will also be an Ozdust Ballroom-themed restaurant where guests dine in an underwater setting accompanied by an animatronic Animal band. Emerald City will be the centrepiece of the land, it'll have a replica of the Unlimited One, the train used to escort Elphaba and Glinda to the city as a photo op complete with winding cogs and billowing smoke. Emerald City will also have both shopping and dining experiences such as the Hot Air Cafe, Emerald City Gifts and the Beautification Salon for younger guests who wanted to have a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique-esque makeover styled like Elphaba or Glinda. There will also be the Wizomania show just like in the film. However, the centerpiece attraction of the entire land is the Defying Gravity roller coaster. It will be a highly intense, launched suspended roller coaster that spans around the entire Emerald City, giving guests the feeling of flying on broomsticks just like Elphaba did while defying gravity. Think of F.L.Y from Phantasialand but in the Emerald City. The ride itself begins in the Wizard's palace where guests are given an audience with the Wizard before Elphaba revolts against him and directs guests to the loading station where they'll board and soar on their brooms. To me, epic universe makes a lot more sense for this expansion, since Wicked also has an art deco/nouveau vibe and is also an epic movie. If they want to cover Part 2, they better build some rides in Islands of Adventure but Part 1 suits Epic Universe.
I love your take on it! I think it fits Epic Universe really well. The reason why I didn’t put it there in the video is because I don’t know when Universal would want to add a whole new land to the park. They may want to hold off on adding an entire new land for a bit. I love your take on the coaster and boat ride! The portal idea is also great! Thanks for sharing!
The Unlimited One train will also be a meet-and-greet spot with Elphaba and Glinda. Other characters such as Prince Fiyero, Nessarose, Boq, Madame Morrible and the Wizard can appear in the land too, as meetable characters. Chistery the flying monkey could also be a meet-and-greet as well. Streetmosphere entertainment includes the Emerald City citizens who will roam and interact with guests in the most interactive way. The team members in the Shiz University section will play the roles of Shiz students and faculties.
Universal Studios Japan had a Wizard of Oz Land. It has a shortened version of the Wicked musical. It’s now taken over by Hello Kitty and Sesame Street.
I personally think it might be one of the lands in the new UK theme park - the plot of land is not far from where they filmed the movie - and I think it's more fitting to start from scratch than slot it in randomly, when there's not much space left in Orlando and they have a hefty chunk of US projects to not just work on, but launch, develop, and maintain.
Yeah it could definitely be in the UK park! They will definitely want big new attractions there to attract people all around the world and Wicked could definitely do that job!
@@jeandavidnau8314 Wicked is a classic Broadway musical at this point and it is still Wizard of Oz, if they make a theme park, we'd still be getting an Oz land but set in the Wicked World.
@@kbraven7007 I'm talking about the movie itself. Most people haven't even seen the show in NY or even know who Judy Garland is anymore unless they like musicals or are of a particular age. Now its all about Ariana
I think it would fit really nicely in Islands of Adventure, since that whole park is supposed to be based on literature and mythology anyways, and the Wizard of Oz and Wicked both started as books. The Emerald City would fit in so nicely next to Hogsmeade and Hogwarts.
The land of Oz is so perfect for a theme park. Even Baum wanted to create a Coney Island style park based off of Oz during his time. I think Wicked would be better suited for Epic because they can custom build everything from scratch instead of being confined to existing structures. One ride idea I thought could work is a drop tower to recreate the iconic moment during Defying Gravity, especially since not every ride needs to be a grandiose e-ticket, though it would be accompanied by a mega ride like the other lands. The food could get creative with the names like a bowl of pea soup with black bread croutons being called Melted Witch Soup. The only thing that I struggle with is if it should be the Emerald City, Munckinland or even Shiz and ‘taking the train’ to the Emerald City for the ride. I will say apparently there are already plans but originally they were only to bring a version of the musical to the park but now with the reception the plans are now being made bigger.
I personally think epic universe makes the most sense to put a wicked area as you are being transported into a different universe being OZ. I think a suspended coaster is a good fit and also a big E-ticket dark ride
Yeah I definitely agree that Epic Universe is a great fit for the land. The biggest issue with the park (which I completely forgot to mention in the video lol) is that I don’t know how soon after the park opens Universal would want to add a new land. I feel like it could be a bit until we get a sixth world in Epic Universe, and I don’t think Universal would want to wait that long to make a land. I definitely think we will get expansions to existing lands sooner though. The sooner they use all the expansion pads, unfortunately, the sooner things have to close for future expansions. If the land is years away (and even something they are considering) I could totally see it being at Epic though! Thanks for the comment!
Vekoma flying coaster would be a much better fit because of the seating position. You could even put a Broom on the restrains to make it look like guests are flying on a Broomstick.
I have a similar idea, but instead of it being solely themed around Wicked, it would be based and themed around both Wicked and the 1939 Wizard of Oz movie. Because although Wicked is immensely popular, I don’t think it will ever be as popular or beloved as that movie. And since Disney shutdown the Great Movie Ride in 2019, I’d assume that they don’t have the license to use the Wizard of Oz anymore.
I never made the literary Connection with AOI before. LOL. While they definitely need to do something about Lost Continent. Universal is hirting for rides and attractions. They wasted a golden opportunity by making Minions Land instead of tearing down that Bad Ride and putting in a Newland. Especially since they knew they were going to make Dreamworks Land anyway.
Universal is building its first europe theme park in uk. With all this stuff going on with harry Potter I think they will have an Oz in uk, especially since they filmed it there!
How could you not mention that Universal did do this in their Japan parks and failed. The Land of Oz had a condense wicked show and one ride at universal Japan. It had the emerald city and munchkin land. There’s an IP issue with some things from the mgm movie that isn’t public domain like the red shoes or even the lion suite. I don’t think universal would invest millions into an idea that they already invest millions in and only lasted 5 years. Should also mention they are already building an Oz land theme park in Australia and they have some exclusive theme park rights for an undisclosed amount of years. Normally 2-5 years internationally then longer for domesticity.
The thing about the Oz land in Japan is that it was built in 2006, and nowhere near the scale or level of detail that Universal would do today. It had a carousel, an animal actors show, and a very condensed production of Wicked. Something based more on the movie done to the standard set by Wizarding World would do gangbusters.
Great Video! Although I would rather put it in Epic Universe as I feel like it’s a more natural fit there, but I also wouldn’t be mad about an emerald city themed land in Epic Universe and a munchkin land in IOA. I would rather see a Zelda land go to lost continent tho

There is space in Epic Universe. No brainer. Kong actually ruined the Literature theme at IOA as the book was based on the movie despite it releasing before the movie.
I would actually go for an Emerald City land. It's more flashy, would have an easily recognazible icon building, and I think the dark rise should be between movies. A terrorist attack from Elphaba to attack the wizard.

i never thought of it going to lost continent, i think keeping Poseidon's fury and retheming it emerald city could be cool and they have a stage show, maybe a short version of the show could be cool. or i'd replace that with a shiz something
1) A Wicked land itself has problems, for the same reason I have problems with the Hunger Games theme parks. The land is forced to grapple with darker themes that are more appropriate for a film class than a theme park. I would feel really bad about any kind of celebration of the death of Elphaba, in watching the movie I was saying more and more "I am her". The story of an ostracised girl seen as special by a few who end up betraying her by getting her to use her power to impliment what she opposes most and loosing friends over staying true to herself, that's literally me. I know people tell me "don't overthink it, enjoy the architectural intracacies of the theming and get your coaster credits" but I'm unable to ever fully turn that part of my brain off. A nerd about rides I certainly am, but willing to call out problematic parts of using a setting for a theme park I also am. By the end of the movie, we're SUPPOSED to want to puke at the thought of that celebration we see at the start. 2) As much as it would suck to think about being at a celebration of my own death like your suggestion would have, I'm all for a Wicked land if it replaces Harry Potter. With how problematic JKR has been, removing Potter is a non-negotiable for me. And with that, you can actually see the seeds for it within. The architecture of that academy looks to be a doable reskin of Hogwarts, and that train, I mean. And enough of the animals could have animatronics reskinned to them. I know it's not likely to happen given the puke endusing photos of the Ministry of Magic from Epic Universe, showing they're still investing money into the franchise. But maybe, just maybe, someone behind the scenes is waiting to pounce on this. As for how to retheme the land, the ride systems would stay but they would see a reskin on the theaming. If the castle was redone to the Wizard castle in Emerald City for example, think of that ride system from Forbidden Journey on Elphaba enchanting the broom.
I was literally just thinking about this the other day! It would be amazing if they could add a portal in Epic Universe for Wicked including Munchkinland and Emerald City. Low key wish they replaced their Fantastic Beasts Harry Potter area for a Wicked themed area… I wonder if they’re just missing permission from Warner Brothers since they own the right to the original Wizard of Oz? Somebody has to build a Wizard of Oz theme park somehow xD
I like what unversal did with wicked. I would NOT want a full ride for it the story is not strong enough it would be more of a kids ride. I'd rather see a wicked show that could be awesome. A Broadway style show. Tbh I feel they should take out the movie theater add a Broadway stage they can convert to hold concerts or pull a massive screen down to premiere movies.
I think a Wicked land location should be the Emerald City. It’s the most iconic place in the entire Oz franchise and a pivotal location for the musical. This also gives plenty of options for shops, food, and snack/gift carts. The Wizard’s palace can make a great location for an e ticket with a great themed queue. Munchkinland looked good in the film but it’s a bit unimpressive as a land to enter and isn’t really that important in the story either. I feel like Shiz and Emerald City are the locations that would come to mind first. With Lost Continent’s layout I could see them possibly doing both of those locations even with an attraction for each.
Yeah I think the Emerald City and Shiz lend themselves well to a land! I chose Munchkinland because I felt it was the location that fit the best with the overall land story I created, but I could totally see the story being tweaked a bit to fit those locations! I would love to walk through a recreated Emerald City and Shiz someday!
To be honest I think wicked will go at epic universe because epic universe has the extra plot of land. And also the reason why I think that wicked cannot go into Islands of adventure is because lost continent will be changed into legend of Zelda.
I think for something like this to succeed, it has to be called The Land Of Oz, with The Wizard Of Oz story first and then have a Wicked ride in it to tell that story as well. I just don't see how Wicked alone will sell the area to the general audience long-term, as it would feel as if there's a lot missing. It will have to be a collaborative effort with Warner Bros. because of the rights they hold over the 1939 movie, on which I do think they should base this land on, but it worked out with Harry Potter so I see no real issues there. In short there's no reason to not make both the general audience AND Wicked fans excited for this. Either one of these missing wouldn't make sense imo if they would do it. There is actually a park called Land Of Oz in North Carolina but after reading up on it I see no real legal issues getting in the way of Universal having it's own.
The most realistic place for a wicked/ emerald city land is the Simpson ride. The Simpsons copyright will expire in 2027 in both parks. So a refub of the simulator Turing it into like a flying monkeys attraction will fit that portion
That or Marvel, since they are considering adding Pokémon to the parks. They are going to have to put them somewhere and I think it would be too soon to expand Epic Universe, but judging from the rumor of them replacing Marvel and the Simpsons leaving Universal, it would make sense if Pokemon and Wicked became part of Islands of Adventure.
I wouldn't write off Universal Studios as an option. Especially if they also secure rights to the 1939 film... The Wizard of Oz is a pretty crucial part of film history, and it would work well with the park's theming. It would be a big undertaking but... I would go from Animal Actors to Men in Black and turn it into Oz. With a yellow brick road from the Munchkin Village (animal actors) to the emerald city (Simpsons Ride area) to the Wicked Witch of the West's castle (MIB) Over ambitious blue-sky concept? Maybe... but that'd be my approach.
I could definitely see a big Wicked ride with the Wizard as the villain! Maybe he could send your boat down a small drop like how Davy Jones used to do in Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom!
I mean I would personally prefer a emerald city area but did you watch the movie it looks perfect for a theme park although I would rather it go to epic universe that IOA
I’m extremely inclined to disagree. The world is perfect for theming, characters, food, entertainment. You’re crazy if you think it wouldn’t be successful.
It would never happen. Maybe more experiences..but full scale permanent builds.. probably not. Unless there was a Broadway Venue added to the NewYork areas of Usf...😏😉 Did I just confuse You and give hope?

Yes!!!
A wicked land would be a HUGE mistake... it is not classic in any way, and too controversial. A WIZARD OF OZ land however would be great.
Controversial? What about Wicked is controversial?
@@SunnylandProds Some people are mad that Elphaba is black, basically Live Action Little Mermaid 2.0
@@itsnova817 oh, so people whose opinions don’t matter in the slightest. Got it.
@@SunnylandProds It may not matter to us, but their wallets matter to Universal, like it or not.
@@itsnova817 I really don’t think that would stop them from doing stuff with Wicked in the parks.
i never thought of it going to lost continent, i think keeping Poseidon's fury and retheming it emerald city could be cool and they have a stage show, maybe a short version of the show could be cool. or i'd replace that with a shiz something
Great ideas
If so I’ll never go there again. No more passholding for me.
Just make an Oz land with big Wicked experiences
Oz and Middle Earth as portals in Epic would be a dream come true!
It's a good idea you really did think of everything but Why didn't you make it in a video game like Planet Coaster???
The Lost Continent will the The Legend of Zelda land.
I hope so
The most realistic place for a wicked/ emerald city land is the Simpson ride.
Didn't Universal Studios Japan used to have an Oz-themed land with Wicked as one of their attractions?
They did! That was one of the reasons that I went with Munchkinland for my concept. I wanted to try something new!
@@ThemeParkPassionbut it did have a munchkin land as well.
Love the idea but those rides feel uninspired
Please spare us!
No we building one if u don’t like it u can go down to the Rats house
Hell yeah
It would fail due to the actors
I wouldn't write off Universal Studios as an option. Especially if they also secure rights to the 1939 film... The Wizard of Oz is a pretty crucial part of film history, and it would work well with the park's theming.
It would be a big undertaking but... I would go from Animal Actors to Men in Black and turn it into Oz. With a yellow brick road from the Munchkin Village (animal actors) to the emerald city (Simpsons Ride area) to the Wicked Witch of the West's castle (MIB)
Over ambitious blue-sky concept? Maybe... but that'd be my approach.
Warner Bros should do this!
Movie World park in Australia is doing their own Wizard of Oz land
If they do tho a Wicked land than the villain of that place should be the Wizard
I could definitely see a big Wicked ride with the Wizard as the villain! Maybe he could send your boat down a small drop like how Davy Jones used to do in Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom!
It should be emerald city
Hello there I have analyzed your TH-cam channel I found out some problem. Do you want to talk about it for a while?
What a horrible take. This should go in studios. The whole point is about the movies right.
Wizard of Oz and Wicked were both originally books.
I mean, Wicked is more like a smut fanfic, but still
@SunnylandProds i dont see a land but for sure a ride. Does this have more pull in the next 20 years than MIB? I'd think so.
I hope not! Terrible idea in the first place
I mean I would personally prefer a emerald city area but did you watch the movie it looks perfect for a theme park although I would rather it go to epic universe that IOA
@ I watched the movie and enjoyed it however I don’t believe it’s theme park material.
I’m extremely inclined to disagree. The world is perfect for theming, characters, food, entertainment. You’re crazy if you think it wouldn’t be successful.
I doubt it it might
No because ( WB ) own Wicked and they is with the( DC ) univers
Not a chance
It would never happen. Maybe more experiences..but full scale permanent builds.. probably not. Unless there was a Broadway Venue added to the NewYork areas of Usf...😏😉 Did I just confuse You and give hope?
No
God, i hope not...
Why not?
@happymaskedguy1943 it's a mid play based on a terrible book that caused the entirety of Hollywood to make shitty "subversive" movies and TV shows.
