    +bluworm When you built the fin on the dinosaur kaiju, did you use the same technique as wings or was it different, and when commissioning the puppet, do you keep the plaster cast or do they receive that as well, because over time the latex rots, so if they have the plaster cast, they could restore the skin

    • @TheLoneAnimator
      @TheLoneAnimator  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Godzillajustice 2004 I sort of used the same technique. Instead of embedding the spikes in the fin in plaster, I just pressed a flat bit of modelling clay against the rubber spikes, sinking them halfway into the clay. Then I brushed on latex, just like with the wings. If the customer wishes it, I'll send a plaster skin mold, as well as the molds for the head.

    +bluworm When making an skin for a character like Gwangi, the T Rex from Jurassic Park, or Godzilla, how would I make the plaster mold without getting the clay sculpt stuck in the mold and have it be a non-hastle to put the skin on the puppet?

    • @TheLoneAnimator
      @TheLoneAnimator  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Godzillajustice 2004 If you use oil-based clay like Chavant or Monster Clay, it won't get stuck in the plaster mold. The clay usually comes out of it quite easily. Putting the cast patches of latex skin on your puppet requires some experimentation and experience. You could just cast bits of latex skin and test them out by attaching them to small bits of polyurethane foam. That's a good way to learn the "skinning" techniques before applying skin to your actual puppet.

    +bluworm Also, do you think that it is worth investing in DragonFrame for (starters) although I have not much but little experience with stop motion. Is it worth it for anyone at all?
    P.S. I have an Apple Mac Computer so I don't think Windows Movie Maker will work, or WILL IT.

      +Godzillajustice 2004 I don't think Windows Movie Maker will run on a Mac, though there has been a software to simulate Windows on a Mac. Seems to be an awful lot of hassle to go through to use Windows Movie Maker though. Isn't there a light version of iMovie?
