Thanks! That is what I tried to capture, in a way. It's a tribute to the traditional British "Ghost Story" as developed by writers like M R James and E F Benson.
I really loved the design of the different ghouls or corpses, and the prose was really good! I just assumed it was written by some famous gothic victorian poet and was so pleasantly surprised to see it was written by you! However, the most impressive feat has to be resurrecting the resting corpse of Vincent Price for the voiceover! ;)
Thanks for all the praise :) This was a fun project to do, as it's basically an attempt at imitating, as you say, gothic poetry of a bygone age. I also tried to reference various "cliches" from British spooky folklore.
Great piece of work. Very 'Jamesian' in tone. I especially like the bit about the revenant and the boundary stone; we used to have similar stories here in Pennsylvania.
I appreciate that you think it's Jamesian, because M R James is, of course, a massive inspiration. Apparently, the boundary ghost is not just a European phenomenon.
It's fun creating these different spooky characters, and then try to find their motions and a sort of personality in the animation, even though it's all very brief.
Oh wow, possibly my favourite yet! I love the short horror poems, great reading by John Hutch, and the use of the crow to bind it all together - just perfect! Kind of got me in the mood of Jim Henson's The Storyteller (with the lovely Swedish title "Sagor för stora barn")
I do too, although I think the first season is clearly the best. Odd really, because I very much like the Greek legends on their own as well. I just think the folk tales worked better in the format.
I have a big book on British traditions and folklore, which maps out all villages and towns in each county, and reading that book sure makes it seem that the whole place is haunted to heck and back.
Thanks! I'll try to fill your well of horror even more this coming year :) John, the narrator, is doing ghost walk tours in Britain. You can bet he's good at his job.
Thank you :) Hopefully it put you in mind of authors like M R James and E F Benson. It's supposed to be a meditation on British folk horror and folktale traditions.
@@TheLoneAnimator oh can you do a story about the jersey devil by stop motion? Cuz I like to enjoy horror films in the dark. Even when Benj watch horror films while eating.😊🥶😱
@@tayahoneybear I have actually done a Jersey Devil video, and though I hope it has creepy moments, it's mostly kind of comical. Check out my channel, and you'll find it.
CAN YOU PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO THW CONQUEROR WORM BY EDGAR ALLAN POE??? I’ve been a supporter for so long and I would love for you to do that! Much love!
YES! I love the design on the sailor puppet! It looks like something straight from Phil Tippett's Mad God. Do you have pictures from the design process to post on your website? I'd love to look into it!
I will eventually post everything about the making of this film on my blog, including the drowned sailor puppet. I'll try to get that done soon. I made a video about the making of it for my supporters over at Patreon.
Cutest “Hellhound” I Ever Saw!!!
Well, you're probably right :)
Animation AND poetry that properly scans. you ARE talented.
Thanks! I like to dabble 😊
"Look, I like living further away from the freeway too, but I still think we need to move."
I wouldn't want dead people to come cuddle me in the middle of the night.
Feels like a dnd adventure idea. Small town has a slight monster problem.
Actually, a pal of mine in Britain made two games based on this very concept, illustrated by me, no less.
khartog01 that’s because I am an official Dungeon Master now n Cardiff XD

Thank you for your kind comment, and thanks for watching :)
This is the best one in months! Poetry suits these macabre visuals excellently!
Thanks! I like weird poetry, I think it's a very good and atmospheric way of relating a story.
I love the hell hound beast part. The dog looks like it just wants some treats and some scratches. 🙂
Everyone loves the hell hound.
Clark Ashton Smith or Lovecraft, or any other that is in his inner circle. Great Work as always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As you remarked in your other comment, it's an original work. Glad you enjoyed it :)
That's great😁
I love this! It has a gothic horror feel to it.
Thanks! That is what I tried to capture, in a way. It's a tribute to the traditional British "Ghost Story" as developed by writers like M R James and E F Benson.
The story, narration and the stop motion is terrifyingly scary it gives me chills.. Reminds me of classic horror movies and Japanese ghost stories.
Thanks! I'm especially glad you're reminded of the Japanese ghost stories. They're among my favorites in the world of folklore.
I liked the sailor's story the best. Excellent stop motion.
Thanks! That one is somewhat inspired by William Hope Hodgson's short tale "A Voice In the Night", if you're familiar with that one.
the quality and skill you demonstrate is incredible! not just animation but also choice of poetry and characters. well done!!
Thank you! Don't forget my narrator, John Hutch :)

The hellhound is ADORABLE!
Appearances can be deceiving!
I really like the animation you offered here, and it fit your poem perfectly.
It's fun creating these different spooky characters, and then try to find their motions and a sort of personality in the animation, even though it's all very brief.
I love these type of poems and the imagery was fantastic :)
Thank! It was a fun experiment to dabble with, as most of my videos are :)
This is truly wonderful, in every respect.
Thanks; Glad you enjoyed it :)

Thank you :) I remember Sagor för story barn warmly, I have both seasons on DVD.
I do too, although I think the first season is clearly the best. Odd really, because I very much like the Greek legends on their own as well. I just think the folk tales worked better in the format.
Fantastic, as always! Great atmosphere and assemblage of spooks. And stellar animation, of course!
Thank you! :)
It’s as if any village or town in the countryside are haunted or plagued with monsters
I have a big book on British traditions and folklore, which maps out all villages and towns in each county, and reading that book sure makes it seem that the whole place is haunted to heck and back.
Being British I can utterly agree we’ve got so many ghost and creature stories floating around
This video is longer then the previous videos, nice work
It's a bit longer, but longer videos are probably coming in the future.
World's most adorable hellhound. Seriously, though, new favorite channel.
Even hellhounds are adorable. Hell bunnies might have the same problem.
I Love The Narrator…..When I want A Taste of “Cosmic Horror” This is My Go To.
Thanks! I'll try to fill your well of horror even more this coming year :) John, the narrator, is doing ghost walk tours in Britain. You can bet he's good at his job.
This is one of my favorites, its almost like a beastiary of ghosts in a certain land.
The countryside is usually littered with the supernatural, all over the world it seems. This little film is a refection on that.
The composites on this one are FLAWLESS!
Thanks! :) Using filters that unify color and texture is a great help.
Wow! I was already a fan, but I think this might be your best yet. Powerfully well done!
Thank you! This is one of my own faves as well.
That’s some dank ass prose bruh. Stellar visuals as well!
Thank you :) Hopefully it put you in mind of authors like M R James and E F Benson. It's supposed to be a meditation on British folk horror and folktale traditions.
@@TheLoneAnimator It definitely did
Wonderful film! Everything was superb: visuals, narration and writing.
Thanks! It's a work of love :)
Amazing work. And an original too. These just get better and better
Thank you! I aim to grow creatively through my films.
Outbloodystanding!
The sets in this were amazing. Any pics or tutorials?
Thanks :) I have made a blog post about this project: loneanimator.blogspot.com/2020/04/they-stalk-night.html
Good gothic horror. Excellent mood setting.
Thanks! Mood was my focus on this one.
Love ur style and lighting, nostalgic worthy 😊
Thanks! Nostalgia is a powerful influence, and I'm old enough to have grown up with the classic ghost story collections, creepy TV shows and movies.
Excellent video dude!👍 Happy new year 🙂
Thanks, and a Happy New Year to you too! :)
@@TheLoneAnimator 🙂👍
I love all the work you put into all these films
It's my biggest passion. I do other things that pay better, but they're not as unique.
@bluworm True! My passion don't pay at all, and I still love it!
Always looking forward to each upcoming episodes
Thanks; I appreciate that :)
Perfectly eerie!!!
Thanks!! That's the mood I tried to achieve.
I am guessing that I was wrong in which is your own original content, and it is a great piece of work as always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks! I don't do a lot of original content, but this one I did just for the fun of it.
Excellent work.
Thank you! :)
This is really underrated
Thanks :)
so spooky , I like it a lot!
I'm glad you think it's spooky! You never know how an audience will react.
Great classic feel to this. :)
Thanks! I tried to emulate the feel of the turn of the century (1899/1900) ghost story, as well as the spooky folktale.
Excellent film, and really sinister!
Thanks! I tried to make it creepy.
Another excellent video, although your slavering hellhound looks rather well mannered.
In my own folklore, hell hounds are actually quite well-trained, doing their jobs as guardians diligently.
More horror films. Please. It’s so perfect then CGI.
I'll see what I can do :) Stop-motion does have an uncanny, kind of gnarly influence.

Just use a squirt bottle with some lemon in it, and a firm "NO!" It'll put those pesky things in line....
I used a flashlight when I was a kid, and that seemed to keep them at bay.
It was amazing congratulations It felt like the Living Night you did a while back
Thanks! I'm glad you caught the similarity to Living Night. This was my attempt at writing something similar myself.
CAN YOU PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO THW CONQUEROR WORM BY EDGAR ALLAN POE??? I’ve been a supporter for so long and I would love for you to do that! Much love!
I have now started working on a Conqueror Worm film, and my frequent collaborator John Hutch has recorded a fine reading of Poe's poem :)
bluworm I’m excited to watch it !! I recently did poetry out loud and recited the poem. You’re one of my favorite channels, can’t wait.
Bravo, good sir! 👏
Thank you kindly :)
WOW ... THIS WAS AWESOME !! LOVED IT :-)
Thank you! :)
Do you like Algernon Blackwood? I would luv to see a, "The Man Whom The Trees Loved" short in ur style 😁
I do like Algernon Blackwood. There's a bunch of classic horror authors that I haven't touched on yet.
Very good.
Glad you liked it :)
Brilliant as always !!
