It is impossible to overstate the importance of Into the New World. The girls spent a YEAR working on this song (including some trainees that didn't make the final cut). In 2016 there were huge protests against the Korean president with giant rallies - and the crowds ended up using ITNW as a protest song. That high note in the song (sung by Taeyeon, no surprise) has been a killer for groups that try to cover it. If you notice, the girls are wearing little to no makeup - its because SM definitely wanted to convey this was a "Girl" group. The scooter, which is fixed by Tiffany (her nickname was pink princess) actually belongs to Shindong from Super Junior. All told, SNSD/Girls Generation has made around 80 mvs (or CF, which is a music video used for a commercial) - a total that no one has come close to.
Soshi debuted REALLY young, Taeyeon (oldest) was only 18 and Seohyun (youngest) was 15 during ITNW. Oh! and RDR era (early 2010) was when Seohyun just turned 18. Also fun fact, 2009~2012 were Soshi’s golden years, hits after hits (Gee - Genie - Oh! - RDR - Hoot! - The Boys - I Got A Boy), each member all had their own gigs from DJing, acting, musicals, MCing, variety shows, modeling, OSTs, CFs, etc., + JP releases (which were all bangers!). Like literally no one could stop them, they were EVERYWHERE.
And then there were the multiple sub-units...just WOW! Literally nothing that at least one of the members could not do. AMAZING ladies, AMAZING, World-Stomping group! :)
Actually Seohyun turned 16 less than 2 months before they debuted and of course Tiffany turned 18 just days before their debut. The real amazing thing is they had their whole first album, with all the hits that would carry them thru to the start of 2009 already recorded and ready to go while they were nearly all still in high school!
@@toyland12 That really is CRAZY. Did they even get a childhood? Good lord. We KNOW they are all hard workers but DAMN! Stealing childhoods is pretty messed up. Glad the labor laws have started to change over there a little bit... I heard about that when somebody was talking about a young member of an already-famous group; the member suddenly was not allowed to be at work or practice during certain hours with the older members...caused quite a stir.
Fun fact: Run Devil Run song has its continuation in their recent ‘Forever 1’ album - the song is called ‘You better run’. You can notice it in their lyrics.
@@jamescurfman3284 This is bit of revisionist history here. SNSD didn't rise to NGG status until "Gee;" it probably also helped that around that time, Wonder Girls had vacated the space as JYP was trying to break them into the American market with "Nobody" (and a weird collaboration with Akon). unsuccessful
@@hanng1242 I meant that these ladies have ALWAYS been THAT GOOD, they were full of talent right from birth, turned that talent to skill and skill to Art. ITNW is just simply one of the most ICONIC songs in kpop period. There's a reason why its still played to this day especially during protests. And is literally known and loved by EVERYONE regardless of age.
Into the new world MV is like their individual dreams.. in their last comeback Forever 1, you can see there some parts connected to their debut which is their dreams.. that's how great they are.. they can do any concepts! Vocals and Visuals are top tiers..
Around 2009, they were on virtually every variety show on television, every radio show, Yoona was already in dramas, sooyoung speaking Japanese and Jessica/Tiffany speaking English expanded their popularity to so many demographics from housewives to children in southeast Asia.
Staunch reminder Taeyeon was 18 at debut, which goes to show just how much years in the industry can enhance your voice, her recent years vocals are so insane.
Girl every single one of this dance and song were viral AF, also they made almost every single concept that is out there and the great thing is that they did it first, you know how is a trend that now days every group wants to be the face of a brand, LG, Samsung, Dior, Cartier, channel, you name it Snsd was the brand face in Korea back then, being a SONE was so fulfilling cause they did so much and created so many concept, you never knew what they will come with, they also started a trend where you used matching outfits but the outfits weren’t the same but still looks uniform, they are my pride

The fact that snsd didn't have any flop song and always with full album like that's so slays ok! They did great as a group and individually the reason they're really deserve everything...
Run devil run was so big they even use that SLOW-MO RUN for AHRI's (a character/champion from the game) in-game dance from LEAGUE OF LEGENDS, it was that big to the extend that they even penetrated MOBA gaming world.
Into the new world is the textbook song for future girl groups and this song has been sung by people for social change. This is their debut song but this song has a lot of meaning
Don't call it 'weed', that's what has a NEGATIVE connotation to it. It is Hemp and Hemp is Hemp is Hemp, used all over the world for weaving purposes. Just let it be Hemp. Besides all that, I am 'pretty sure' that she would never have planned on trying to smoke it.
@@DatVideoDoe Do you REALLY think that NOBODY would take it negatively? JUST ME? If so, you are delusional. You should already be aware that some idiotic Karen would definitely take the bait. I was just trying to caution you pre-emptively. If you really feel like being such a jerk about it, you deserve to get stuck in a pointless, time-wasting, energy-wasting circular-argument style endless debate with some wacko. If you DON'T like wasting time by having the hassle of some jerk jumping all over you for it, then change it. Totally up to you.
Run Devil Run was originally for Kesha, it ended up getting leaked before she released it so SM bought it and became a girls generation song. You can actually find kesha’s version on youtube!
Just to clarify - I don't think it was written FOR Kesha. Kesha recorded the vocals for the demo, and the demo is what's submitted to companies. So RDR was submitted to SM as a demo - it's not as if they randomly came across a "leak"
You got it wrong. The composers for RDR wanted to sell the song, so they got Kesha to sing a demo. Kesha did the demo, but didn't buy the song. Maybe she didn't like it. So the composers put it up for music companies to listen and buy and SM bought it in the end, and gave the song to Girls Generation. The song was never intended for kesha, she just recorded a demo to help sell the song.
@@Nineiseverything Okay that makes sense. So if we ever run across the Demo version of the song, it is basically a leak because it was never actually meant to be released to the public, it's JUST a Demo.
ITNW and Genie are probably the most covered songs by girl groups, i think most of the 3rd and 4th Gen girlies covered at least one of the two. Genie will always be my fave ❤
Thank you for bringing me back to a simpler time. SNSD was my intro to Kpop in 2012 when I was a 19 year old lad. These past few SNSD videos that you’ve done really got to me. I keep getting choked up. SNSD got me through the roughest period of my life and I will always love them but thank you for helping me remember exactly why. Thank you so much. P.S: Their Japanese albums have a lot of my favorite songs. I highly recommend those bangers.
the CHILLS i always get when i'm listening to ITNW tho ;___ ; i first encountered them and their debut era when i was in highschool too, so basically i kind of grew up along side with their growing popularity in those days. ITNW will always make me feel so nostalgic.
gosh, this brings back so many memories. SNSD was the first kpop group I've listen to. When they were at their peak, they are everywhere! INTW was an ICONIC debut song, it became the protest song that Ehwa Uni student rallies against the uni's policies. Genie music show performance became the highest rated performance on any music shows. Oh/ RDR album won them the album daesang at GDA which btw they are the first and only girl group to won in that category till date. I just LOVE them so much!!
Thank you so much for making reactions to our GG queens 👸! It’s so amazing to see how they have grown up from young girls (Into the new world) to elegant successful women (Forever 1) #GG4EVA 💗
Omg thanks so much for reacting to SNSD. It is always super nostalgic and emotional seeing new people reacting to these queens, I hope you keep doing it because I am pretty sure you will love the rest of their songs, korean and japanese tracks.
Genie is the song that made me a fan of K-pop. I can even specify the moment In the song. I had heard Gee before, and some other songs by k-pop groups, but I hadn't looked any up for myself. When I looked up Genie, and I got to Taeyeon's adlibs in the final chorus (right after "DJ put it back on") I was like "huh! Maybe there is something to this kpop thing after all". That was in 2011, and I haven't looked back since. x) It's really cool that you guys are deep dive of them, and I'm definitely joining the stream on Saturday. I have SO many songs and videos I want to recommend through your Patreon x) As an old SONE I welcome you to the fandom, and I look forward to your journey!
I am here for all of this... i am always down to take a trip down to memory lane. I hope one day you can watch their reality shows... there are oh so many, but they are SO SO good and what makes people fall in love with their personalities. The sisterhood, the love, the chaos, the no filter shenanigans... SNSD is legendary for this
4:52 They Put Taeyeon As A Pilot because she's the leader of the group and they represent that by her being a pilot and leading and the mv is their debut and it's about them entering a new world wich is kpop I guess 😅
I can't wait to see you react to their live stages, espeically their Japan tours! The vocals and dance performances! It's just phenomenal! No wonder that are the legendary GG! 😍
When jyp created TWICE, they declared that they would create a jyp version of Girls' Generation. Girls' Generation is that iconic in K-pop. And when Red Velvet first debuted, sm announced that they would create a group that combines Girls' Generation's popularity with f(x) experimental concepts.
Run Devil Run is what got me into GG. I was a huge Kesha fan and heard this demo she did, and when I tried to find the song it turns out GG sang it. Fell in love from there
SNSD and TWICE are my ult groups, so this is the beginning of another must-watch series of yours for me! thank you for making such amazing videos for us, and I can’t wait for more!
I discovered KPOP in the summer of 2012. I started to watch their videos at the end of the year and became really obsessed. I built a playlist of videos that was over 100. It consisted of live songs, released videos and fan mades where they didn’t release actual videos. Some have been taken down over the years, but when I want a good vibe day I come back to this playlist. They never made a throwaway song.
Can't help dancing while watching this episode. Those kpop golden era days, waaah! I remembered those times that my team were doing covers of SNSD songs in KPOP Festivals in my hometown back then, so nostalgic. Me playing as Taeyeon :) Proud to be a Aunt Fan already hahaha
Genie might not be your favorite at first, but it's definitely a grower, i never listened to it until like 2018 and it's now my favorite SNSD title track along with Mr.Mr. lol, also it's quiet popular within the reactors community, they love Genie way after reacting to it 🤣🤣
Oh! Was their carrier single for their 2nd album and when the repackage album went out, Run Devil Run song was added. There was a story version music video for Run Devil Run which is connected to Oh! Mv
Oh! and Run Devil Run are coneccted, the group have one story video version with the twoo videos. The girls in run devil run are the glitch of the computer in Oh! MV because Jessica drope a glass of wather over the computer.
Brings back so many memories! I got into kpop in 2011 and SNSD were the group that made me a kpop fan. Run Devil Run was the first dance I tried to copy all of. I definitely tried the chorus for Gee and Genie before, but I remember I would be dancing run Devil run all round the house! 😂
ITNW is a difficult song to sing with a hard-hitting choreography, and they were singing live most of the time back then. They made it look so effortless, yet they actually were practicing for that song for a whole year before it was ever released. It was already pure muscle memory by the time they actually debuted. More so even now.
aaah So nostalgic. I started to know them in Oh! era. Jessica is my bias but Sunny was my first ever bias! I used to watch this show Invincible Youth and she is hilarious! I freakin missed that show! 😂
The ignagural MV of SNSD is about overcoming the difficulties to achieve your dreams. The spirit of the song has made it an anthem for people involved in civil rights in South Korea. Gennie MV was shoot to make them look like they are alo as tall as Sooyoung.
SNSD was my first kpop group ever, Oh was actually the second kpop song I ever heard (first being Mister Taxi, also by snsd). Run devil run also was one of my favorite and yes I did that run in place move when it came out because thta choreo is iconic x)
Funfact Run devil run was originally for kesha n she sang it but she didnt didnt want it anymore n SM bought the rights for it n gave to Snsd ~ So u can still find a kesha vers for RDR on youtube~~
I think there are 3 live stages of 'Into the new world' that really left a lot of emotions for fans until now. First, it was their debut stage, enthusiastic rookies stepped on stage for the first time with 100% powerful live vocals, powerful choreography, and no makeup. Next was the stage at Tokyo Dome, their first performance after Jessica left, the first time they sang the ballad version of 'Into the new world', which had nostalgia and regret, and took away a lot tear. Finally it was 'Into the new world' at the fanmeeting on the 15th anniversary, that stage was really emotional because SONE seemed to think SNSD would never perform the original version again, but they did, and in their 15th year they still prove they are "Girls' Generation" with that voice, that dance and those 8 girls. There is a touching thing that, on their comeback with FOREVER 1, SNSD specifically asked Kenzie (ITNW's composer) to compose a song for them to send to their fans, a song that reflects SNSD's colors, and FORVER 1 was born. The bridge when SNSD walks on the red carpet at FOREVER 1 is the piano playing with the melody of 'Into the new world', proving that if in 'Into the new world' the girls are trying for their dreams, then 15 years later, they have succeeded and found their own identity with 'FOREVER 1'. And it's fact that when they debuted, SNSD didn't receive as much good feedback as many people thought, they had many anti-fans and of course ITNW wasn't loved too much either. They had to perform in front of the black ocean at Dream Concert. However, the efforts and success of the girls, along with bright lyrics and powerful choreography, ITNW has become the debut anthem of Kpop, the song that seemingly every female trainee must also practice through, is the song used to play across borders and during protests. Sorry for my long comment but I've never really stopped being proud of the girls. Thank you for loving SNSD
- About Genie: 'Genie' was released after the 'Gee' fever, and once again made Korean people excited. The leg kicking choreography made a strong impression and for the first time, girl group had makeup on their legs. The influence of SNSD and 'Gennie' at that time will surprise you when Music Core's rooftop performance (th-cam.com/video/z3RTc-8J3CU/w-d-xo.html) reached a viewership rating of 17.2% (equivalent to 8,000,000 viewers compared to the population of Korea at that time) - A number that even famous K-dramas today can hardly reach. This is an unprecedented record and until now, it seems that no one will be able to break it. What's more interesting is that there was no flycam at that time, the performance was filmed with a real helicopter, SNSD lived under the noise and wind of the helicopter but still completed it excellently even though they couldn't hear the music. You can also check out one of the best costumed Genie performances (in my opinion): th-cam.com/video/_SWyfEnHnzM/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygULR2VubmllIFNOU0Q%3D Tiffany's line "DJ put it back on" is iconic, and she will often change 'DJ' to the name of the place where the girls are performing LOL =))))))
- About Oh1: 'Oh!' is a series of hits after hits after 'Gee', 'Genie'. With the album 'Oh!', SM and SNSD for the first time produced photocards for each member, pioneering the photocard trend in the Kpop industry. Besides, Yuri is the member with the first most known viral fancam focus in Kpop history and created the foundation for subsequent fancam culture (because before that, although the fancam trend appeared very early, it was only encapsulated within a small scope of individuals or within a fandom).
On the Japanese tour, Taeyeon sang the intro Devil`s Cry to the song "Run Devil Run". from that moment I've been waiting for her album completely with rock songs! she lit up the stage!
INTW introduced me to kpop ,i saw the mv n performance on tv and i was HOOKED !!!! then with the years i knew more n more grps n soloists , i am grateful being a sone n a multi stan since late 07.
There’s another (criminally underwatched) version of the Run Devil Run MV called the Story Version and it actually explains the storyline continuing from Oh!

If you actually like doing that then never mind, I won't stop you. Just ignore me. I'll ignore you when you finally get tired of it and need help getting that monkey to leave you alone.
Not cool that it got leaked but cool that it was originally going to be a Kesha song.
Nope that was a guide not her song.
Feel nostalgic 🥹
#GG4EVA 💗
ITNW and Genie are probably the most covered songs by girl groups, i think most of the 3rd and 4th Gen girlies covered at least one of the two. Genie will always be my fave ❤
OH! has the best snsd fanchants just saying *o* (well, snsd fanchants have been epic, but OH! had names in it so haha)
Thank you for reaction❤ Love you all
Genie is the song that made me a fan of K-pop.
That was in 2011, and I haven't looked back since. x)
It's really cool that you guys are deep dive of them, and I'm definitely joining the stream on Saturday.
I have SO many songs and videos I want to recommend through your Patreon x)
As an old SONE I welcome you to the fandom, and I look forward to your journey!
I am here for all of this... i am always down to take a trip down to memory lane. I hope one day you can watch their reality shows... there are oh so many, but they are SO SO good and what makes people fall in love with their personalities. The sisterhood, the love, the chaos, the no filter shenanigans... SNSD is legendary for this
Thanks a lot for ur reaction guys... so nostalgic.... Girls' Generation #GG4EVA ❤
there are SO MUCH content that i want you guys to see so its so difficult to list them all out HAHAHA
all i can say is that you're in for a treat :)
In the MV of OH!, they chose the numbers on their clothes themselves, and the numbers have special meanings.🥰🥰🥰
Girls' Generation is K-pop's blueprint 🙇🏻♀️
There’s a version of Run Devil Run that conects this one with Oh! It’s like a fight between them, love it ❤
Genie might not be your favorite at first, but it's definitely a grower, i never listened to it until like 2018 and it's now my favorite SNSD title track along with Mr.Mr. lol, also it's quiet popular within the reactors community, they love Genie way after reacting to it 🤣🤣
Even after more than 10 years, Oh! is still my favorite song
Koreas Nation Girl Group - The Legendary SNSD
Oh! Was their carrier single for their 2nd album and when the repackage album went out, Run Devil Run song was added. There was a story version music video for Run Devil Run which is connected to Oh! Mv
THANK YOU SO MUCH KESS & HAN! Hope you continue deep diving to my girls! I really miss SNSD contents like this. I can't wait for more. Love this! 💗
Oh! and Run Devil Run are coneccted, the group have one story video version with the twoo videos.
YALLLL Girls Generation is THE GROUP
I'm so excited to watch your video's reaction for Girl's Generation 😍
ITNW is a difficult song to sing with a hard-hitting choreography, and they were singing live most of the time back then. They made it look so effortless, yet they actually were practicing for that song for a whole year before it was ever released. It was already pure muscle memory by the time they actually debuted. More so even now.
You guys should watch SNSD - You Think. Their vocals is soooooo GOOD❤
aaah So nostalgic. I started to know them in Oh! era. Jessica is my bias but Sunny was my first ever bias! I used to watch this show Invincible Youth and she is hilarious! I freakin missed that show! 😂
You're right, the blonde one in the MV "Oh!" is Jessica ❤
Omg! YOU BETTER DO THEIR JAPANESE DISCOGRAPHY. Those are treasures 💗🎉
like they're the best gg ever, i love them so much
The ignagural MV of SNSD is about overcoming the difficulties to achieve your dreams. The spirit of the song has made it an anthem for people involved in civil rights in South Korea.
Gennie MV was shoot to make them look like they are alo as tall as Sooyoung.
For some certain members, I bet that is one wish they had among many... lol
@@jamescurfman3284🤣😂😅
SNSD was my first kpop group ever, Oh was actually the second kpop song I ever heard (first being Mister Taxi, also by snsd). Run devil run also was one of my favorite and yes I did that run in place move when it came out because thta choreo is iconic x)
Funfact Run devil run was originally for kesha n she sang it but she didnt didnt want it anymore n SM bought the rights for it n gave to Snsd ~ So u can still find a kesha vers for RDR on youtube~~
In high school I had all these MVs downloaded into my laptop, along with a folder of GIFs for each member 😂
Oh! and Run Devil Run actually has an mv of the story version, i like to watch those two mvs until now
Check out their concert version. They are not only idols but also models. The way they walk on stage is very famous, they are like catwalk models
I looooove when someone else is deep diving to SNSD content 😭
Their side tracks are also amazing and recommend listening too. Don't forget their hilarious video reactions
When you get to "I Got a Boy," remember the immortal words of Tiffany: "TH-cam is my best friend. Is TH-cam your best friend?"
waiting for more snsd reaction love u guys
waaaaaaaah!!!
yeah. its me just yelling my heart out. Thank you for this deep dive!!
- About Genie:
'Genie' was released after the 'Gee' fever, and once again made Korean people excited.
You can also check out one of the best costumed Genie performances (in my opinion): th-cam.com/video/_SWyfEnHnzM/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygULR2VubmllIFNOU0Q%3D
Tiffany's line "DJ put it back on" is iconic, and she will often change 'DJ' to the name of the place where the girls are performing LOL =))))))
- About Oh1:
'Oh!' is a series of hits after hits after 'Gee', 'Genie'.
There actually is a continuation of Oh! mv in Run Devil Run but it’s in the story ver. of the mv
You guys make me crying, Because this so nostalgic 😢 thanks for this 💕
On the Japanese tour, Taeyeon sang the intro Devil`s Cry to the song "Run Devil Run". from that moment I've been waiting for her album completely with rock songs! she lit up the stage!
INTW introduced me to kpop ,i saw the mv n performance on tv and i was HOOKED !!!! then with the years i knew more n more grps n soloists , i am grateful being a sone n a multi stan since late 07.
I love seeing people still discover Soshi even now😭 #GG4Eva
The greatest thing about snsd is the greatness of their voices combine as an unit is unmatched. Greatest harmony in K-pop girl group history
There’s another (criminally underwatched) version of the Run Devil Run MV called the Story Version and it actually explains the storyline continuing from Oh!
Girl's generation is too iconic to forgoten like ...
I'm a BIG FAN of Baby Baby MV and Way to Go MV, because they just having fun in front and behind the scenes !
I AM SO GLAD that you two got around to reacting to K-Pop ROYALTY. Luv ya both!
I'm so proud of me because I'm a SONE 💖
SNSD, the best group & artist foever 💖
It's so good to see you enjoying SNSD!
If this deep dive doesn't include the ballad version of Into The New World, I will be sad 😢 (not as sad as I am every time I watch it, though)
Thank you for reaction 😊😊😊. GG's songs are iconic.
You guys should watch the story version of Run Devil Run.
girl this had me all sorts of emotional rn
