    I have an 07 that has been an electrical nightmare. After 5 years of on & off sitting, daily riding it now even in the freezing temps. Sounds just like this one in the video; specs on it are average. It has so much soul & is imperfectly perfect!!! I grew up on super sports and they still do not compare, even if more reliable. Great review

    • @MotorcycleDemoRiders

      Thank you for taking the time to comment and share your experience. Modern bikes are getting so good now for the most part they seem to be lacking character. As you said imperfectly perfect! Things that made the bike feel special. I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity in my life to ride a lot of different bikes and in 2023 when I decided to share the experiences it was to try and capture the emotions that a bike like this one provided. Just special! The 07 had the 1050 engine, right? I'm sure it is a blast to ride and provides that same emotional reaction that makes the bike feel special. Stay safe and again appreciate you for taking your time to share!

      @@MotorcycleDemoRiders the 07 is a 1050. It still is basic without all of the tech which I really appreciate. The specs are nothing special either compared to the newer ones but I still think it is perfection, just not reliable electronics. I used to work at a bike shop and have ridden many bikes in the past, including a boosted turbo Hayabusa.
      I have a 05 gsx-R 750 that has been in my possession for 18 years, the most reliable machine ever .. As amazing of a machine as it is, the Speedy has much more character. Favorite machines of all time is that, 2nd gen CRX's & a Jeep CJ5. They all are imperfectly perfect and nothing extra that is not needed.
      Your review was simple, detailed, & to the point. The only thing I disagree on; is that the machine only has 15k miles left on it. While it will need repairs, those engines are extremely stout fortunately. Otherwise, I would have not put up with all the electronic shenanigans I had to diagnose/resolve.
      Thanks for responding!!!

      @@SamslamminCars Of course and its a wonderful thing to experience different styles of bikes. I have never understood why people would limit the motorcycle experiences to one style or brand. They are all unique and deserve to be ridden and shown. I am sure it will last many years and many more miles as long as its maintained. I'm glad to have you share your riding experiences on the channel as it will be very helpful for others. For me it's the experience I'm after. This is a passion for me and I'm happy that I was able to convey the experience with this bike for the world.

    Thanks for the great review. I also have a black T509 from 1998 with approximately 76,000 km on the clock. Also have an original exhaust and belly pan underneath. And indeed you have to experience it to be able to tell how the T509 drives.

      You're welcome, by the way. I have always driven a car and only recently started getting my motorcycle license. It was during the time of Covid. Motorcycle prices in the Netherlands were extremely expensive simply because no new motorcycles were made, everything came to a standstill. So I started looking for a second-hand motorcycle and fell in love with the T509. It fit perfectly into my budget, and therefore also my first motorcycle. And yes, I still have it for about almost 3 years now. So far I haven't found anything strange about the T509. It still runs like a train, as they say in the Netherlands. He is not leaving for the time being. And when he leaves, another triumph returns ;-). Thank you also for the nice response and I wish you a lot of fun with the T509 and on YT.@@MotorcycleDemoRiders

I own a 95' T309 (Speed Triple) and listening to your narrative about how those Triumphs from the 90's...I can totally relate? The feel when you are riding them are pure and analog? You absolutely feel one with it? A nice find there....keep it forever🎉

That said these older models with no tech for me really do make you feel connected to the bike.

      You are correct? The original T309 ( Speed Triple 900) was manufactured from 1994-96? The European market got it first ( naturally) in 1994 and the U.S. got them for the 1995-96 years?

    I regretted selling my 98 roulette green so I bought a low mileage 97 in black. Adore the 97 like the 98. I also have a 23 speed triple in matte orange and feel the new bike is a tick too much. All the modern display wizardry on the new bike and computer rider aides have taken some of the fun away from riding a triple. The T509 is definitely a sweet spot in motorcycling IMO. Took me 5 months to hit first service on the new bike as a result of it being too manic for the street.

    • @MotorcycleDemoRiders
      @MotorcycleDemoRiders  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a very special bike! Thanks for sharing and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it. The 23 is insanely powerful and while very fun to ride it is way to much power for normal street riding. I classified it as a comfortable track bike since its more comfortable that any other superbike I've ridden. I do feel like on the street 100 to 120 horsepower is the sweet spot probably the reason I feel in love with the street triple 765 so much to be honest. But this bike since it has no electronics to get in the way it reminded me of how bikes used to be and as I indicated in the video made me feel more connected to the bike. Enjoy that bike and stay safe always.

    Wow that is alot of miles! I feel like mine is a baby with 28k. They aren't flawless. The early bikes are known for the clutch basket springs breaking and possible transmission failures on a limited number of bikes. The early alternator charging system is generally very robust but the extra shaft in the engine driving it can have issues. Later ones have regulator rectifier and stator issues. The starter sprag clutch can go bad and requires splitting the engine on early bikes. The rear wheel adjuster on the single sided swingarm can seize if not lubricated. Triumph issued an extra ground connector for the wiring harness which should be fitted. The factory fuel mapping is poor but the ECU can be tuned. Finding someone that knows how to do it properly is challenging. The plastic fuel tanks can get ugly bubbles if using gas with too much ethanol. The most common issue is the corrugated plastic vacuum lines leak and cause idle issues if not replaced. However, in general the 885 and 955 Triumph triples are very well made and quite dependable compared to other euro bikes of the era. Unfortunately many are neglected.
    I hope someone buys that gem and keeps it going!

    You do have to rev the 1997 Speed Triple quite hard to get the performance. If you want the low end grunt you need the 1999 onwards with the 955i motor. 2005 1050 is actually lairy, even by todays standards. Judging by your comments I'd go for a 2007 1050 with the steel tank. 👍👍
