I will Never understand why he stopped playing this organ interlude during this song at 13:42 tho. Rick only played it like this the first half of 1970. After that he changed it and it became a bit duller. This organ sound is AMAZING.

I am a bass player and I will defend Roger's bass playing until I'm blue in the face. The guy gets so much flak from people for not having super chops or whatever but he has it where it counts, and Nick likes playing with him so that should be a clue also. And as talented as Guy Pratt is, Roger's style is better suited to the Floyd in my opinion.

I remember back in 1971, I saw in TV Guide that Pink Floyd had an hour long show one night. My mom let me watch it and even she was amazed at what these four men could with their instruments. I have listened and followed Pink Floyd ever since. I wish at their last concert I saw ( I have seen every concert in Florida performed by PF) in a baseball park in North Miami that they could have done Atom Heart Mother but, I was told they didn't have the recording of the DC-3 taking off. That was a shame. Especially now that Rick Wright is past away. God rest his soul "or" have him jam with other greats that have died, like Jimmy Hendrix, etc, etc. To all the other Rock &Roll artists out there, ROCK ON!

Yes, it's one I always come back to and would consider it very important. I love most of their 1965-1972 pre DSOTM music. I have every single recording, and some bootlegs, up to and including The Wall. I saw them with Roger performing The Wall in London 1980. But had started to loose interest in the music a bit by then. After 1972 my favourite albums is WYWH in 1975,closely followed by the much more agressive 1977 release Animals, with the ranting about 70s British Politics, and their ever growing dislike of record companies and big corporations, expanding on the sentiments of 'Have A Cigar' and 'Welcome to the Machine', as 2 songs in Animals were going to be on Wish You Were Here, instead of the extended version of Shine On....
The Wall in 1979 ... I only like certain tracks. And Dark Side of the Moon got played continuously after its release that I got fed up with it. Only now can I appreciate it again, especially Clare's singing and most of the album...it's an excellent recording for its time. I talk too much, blah blah blah 😀

Wow so happy I’ve discovered this version! It’s so raw and you can hear the power of the drums the bass and the organ not to mention the slide, Since the release of dsotm live at Wembley I’ve been looking for that raw early live stuff. Can’t beat Pompei in my opinion. Truly amazing musicians Thankyou

This is great, four of them playing a large-scale piece that includes brass ensemble and choir and still succeeding to keep the fullness of the sound without brass and choir actually performing.
