I was lucky enough to experience Pink Floyd perform this live with brass and choir at the Colston Hall Bristol UK Dec.1971. It was fantastic. I love Atom Heart Mother. I was 16 years old. Pink Floyd helped me to learn how to be with sound and to use it to enter into inner/cosmic space. I have listened to their music since 1966/67. Their music never sounds the same no matter how often I listen. It is always moving- spacious- transformative. I listen to period from 67 -75. Mostly Ummagumma to Meddle. It was a period of formation and deep learning for me. I thank them deeply and feel grateful to have been here at the same time as them with all the music and creative performance they gave us all.
To quote Monty Python " You lucky bastard". I've seen Dave and Roger's solo tours twice, but I don't think that they could hope to compare to anything from that time period. All I have is this channel and bootleg recordings unless I can get my hands on a time machine.
Can you imagine what causes Pink Floyd to a young guy around 1980 in East Germany? It was the perfekt medium to enter into inner/cosmic space. It was transformative. For me the preparation for the revulution 1989. Such music is now neccessary for the russian zombies which kill and bomb whithout any thinking in Ukraine.
A high-quality master film for this video was discovered, and a new document film was also discovered. They will be released only in Japan in August 2021.
I smell Syd in this one. He may not be in the band at the time but I can feel him in the music. Great piece of music. Fat Old Sun shows Davids' ability real well.
To think that Roger and David detest this masterpiece. It's ambitious and dynamic imo, and I wish it got the recognition more of their material does, not just the song, but entirety of the album
I went on Pink Floyd binge n 73 and must have played Atom Heart mother 100's of times. "If" is still one of my favorite PF songs (but Meddle is still my favorite album). And I can't tell you how real "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" was. Anyone that lived through the late 60's and early 70's knows what I'm talking about.
We just saw Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets in Melbourne playing a medley of Atom Heart Mother and If from the same album. It was a shortened version (perhaps not a bad thing) but it made us realise that it's a piece of music with real weight and power, and some beautiful moments. The band's negative opinions of it may be coloured by the difficulties they had recording and performing it, but I think it's due for a reappraisal. Certainly the crowd reaction suggested it still has many fans.

This music is from all times, it expresses an deeply human feeling, that is searching for meaning. Henry Moore made his sculptures with a large hole in it. That same hole is feeled in the music of PF.
Pink Floyd still has an important part to play. Look at all of the American blacks reacting to their music, for instance Time, and saying, sometimes with tears in their eyes, "I wish I had heard this 10 years ago!" We be bringing Floyd to the masses now.
Hey, if any of the members of Pink Food are reading this... PLEASE get back together for one more concert. I was, unfortunately, born almost ten years after Pink Floyd’s final tour, so I couldn’t ever get to see anything like this. Please please please just do one final concert.

The worst thing about Pink Floyd songs is that they end...
they do not
This..could have been the whole album, easily.
They existed Just enjoy them, are uniquies
Is that they are too long
I just keep playing this album over and over 👍🏻
Saw Pink Floyd live 3 times between 1970 & 75’. Absolutely unforgettable & epic treat!!!
Best era of the band 1965 to 1977.
Best band. Period.
Respect for The Wall mate. Masterpiece.
I prefer '87 to '94.
@@marccosta7376 I assume he does not like it because it is depressing.
@Xtra Spice Mikey 2 things bud
1. that is subjective and not a fact
2. they recorded it in 1978 too and performed it live in 1980 and 1981
Atom Heart and Echoes were my go to when I had a hard time going to sleep for decades. If I didn't fall asleep I would just melt into the music.
Love your comment
I was 12 in 1971, But I was listening to Pink Floyd with my 26 yr old brother, may he rest in peace. He introduced me to so much music.
