I thought I had to be a fragrance expert to start a channel. Then I realized I was more interested in how my friends would describe a fragrance than how ‘perfume experts’ describe them lol. I’ve never smelled a galibanum, osmanthus, cardamom, etc in isolation I get lost on note listings.
Learning to like a frag is so satisfying, learning the language, the story, the intent is incredibly rewarding on a long term basis. 100% agree on your point!
It doesn't seem mass pleasing to me but since you mentioned the color purple it gave me an idea. I opened up a travel sprayer and put a little bit of Black Iris and a lot of Xerjoff Accento in it and now I really have a mass appealing and long lasting scent :D.
An absolute love of mine. I was terrified when purchasing this fragrance because I blind bought it. But I was ready to step out the mainstream a few years ago. So thankful I did. I actually feel I had a similar experience in the beginning. However, a while after owning my bottle, it became extremely deep and smooth. The longevity in my bottle is insane to be honest. I wear a winter hat a lot where I’m from, and it always smells like this for days after I spray my neck and slap it on. Glad you mentioned the light atomizer too, Tom Fords do the same thing.
I would love to see you try the OG Interlude and compare. I was surprised that the OG smelled quite similar to Black Iris after hearing the OG is dubbed the “blue beast” and is supposedly polarizing.
Imagine being a 6000 year old vampire and you live in a dilapidated castle thats got a forest around it and growing through the gaps in the castle walls. You spend your nights weeping over the lost love of your life sat by a roaring fire in a damp wooden throne. This scent is what your cape smells like and i love it.
If I were to right a review of this I would have said exactly what you said. I have a big decant of this and found it too challenging and unwearable at first. But I tell you what, this gets better and better the more I wear it.
A lot easier IMO but still not easy lol. It’s not as challenging as it’s made out to be IMO it’s a nice creamy violet floral with that weird interlude DNA in the background.
@@CgScents I have to try it on skin. One of my clients brought his bottles outside. Sprayed it on, just knew it was Interlude, loved it, didn't look at the cap. Tried the blue beast and that wasn't it. However I do remember a slight floral with his.
@@McCraylian yeah the regular interlude has too much oregano and smoke it gives me smoking a hookah in an Italian kitchen vibes I don’t really mess with pizza spice like that. Black Iris is great tho the oregano is dialed back to be pretty faint.
I just got a sample of FM The Moon, and the dry down is almost the exact same as Interlude Black Iris. Both are really good, but for the money, Black Iris FTW.
In my top 5… it’s amazing. I have the 2021 batch which came in a hard box. The new one comes in a sleeve, and a hard box that opens up laying flat,. Cheers
It’s crazy I was looking for a batch code and couldn’t find one. Mine is newer made in Oman new packaging bought it a few weeks ago. I love it, definitely up there for me as well.
Wow, Cg, same exact story here. I didn't like it at all when I first smelled it. I thought it was too strange. The only strange thing now is I absolutely love it and esteem it. Not just above other Amouage's What you said about immediate likes hit hard! I sampled this and Reflection Man at the same time. I immediately liked RM, but honestly, now it is kinda forgettable in terms of uniqueness. However, Black Iris is fine art in perfumery.
100% I’ve been debating selling my reflection to get royal tobacco. If it wasn’t one of my first love fragrances with a history I prolly already would have. I just get bored with crowd pleasers for dumb reach easy to like fragrances I’m usually fine with a cheapie or clone as well. Feels overpriced when it’s a $170+ dumb reach.
I saw your response and like it but...life. I feel you in getting bored of the dumb reaches etc. I get your reflection man dilemma will you keep it just for memory or do you still wear it? If not you could always sell it and just keep the memories lol. Jk.. a little. I looked into this Royal Tobacco and it sounds Amazing!👌🏽
Man... I fucking love your channel. Even if I disagree with the opinion which in this case i definitely don't. I really respect your indepth analysis of the scents. Bravo man! Just curious... what was your wedding day scent?
Thank you! The production is a blast. Sadly, I got married years ago and wasn’t as deep as I am now. I wore Gucci guilty Oud. It’s not a bad rose blackberry fragrance I still like it but I definitely would have worn creed royal Mayfair if I knew back then what I know now.
The best interlude. I don’t care what those snobs say, black iris is the best followed by 53 and the OG. Black iris is just so much more wearable and smooth.
It is crazy how subjective it is. Making an honest fragrance review channel really exposes just how senseless it is in a way. It’s an entertainment and discussion platform I’m having fun producing it but it also has a unique vibe 😅. I love king blue. Such a goat frag 🐐 to me but a lot of people hate it. I can’t comprehend it I find it very smooth and liked it instantly lol.
@@CgScents i blind bought it, people screaming poo and all this... i was a little timid but i bit the bullet. So glad i did. Instant love aswell! Kinda reminds me of haltane without the praline sweetness and more of a fruity top. It's honestly my favorite amouage right now.
I got murdered in my office , wearing it..horrifying experience..but-I say Im mostly dealing with the 50 + crowd. I ll never wear it to office again.. @@CgScents uhm, you have to look at it from a perspective..people like us, we tested tried and smelled probably hundreds if not thousands of colognes..we get more and more used to pushing boundaries, discovering new excotic/ advanced/ challenginbg scents..with scents like Tommi Iomi Xerjoff, Interlude iris, Overture, Intios and other heavy hitters..99% of general public dont wear any colognes. Love ur way of describing fragrances, not the typical note listing, similar to how I would do it lol, a man of culture

@CgScents totally agree with you man, u got it
You’re absolutely right about the instant likes. They get boring. I guess I enjoy the challenge.

Top 2 guys in the game
This is on my short list to try. Got a bottle of Jubi XXV recently and that one is stellar IMO.
Interlude is a masterpiece.
Haven’t tried black iris . Great review 👊
I love this fragrance, utterly gorgeous pink creamy incense. This is a for life fragrance for me 🤩

yeah exactly - fragrances that interested me instantly i got bored of them very quickly
I got this one, its amazing
I love it as well. If I wasn’t into reviewing different things I’d prolly just wear this daily for a good month lol.

As always good job. I have Interlude - do you think owning both is worth it or they overlap too much?
I think they overlap too much tbh. They’re not THAT different interlude black Iris is a more wearable version but a very similar vibe IMO.

Yeah I'm planning on popping the question soon. I think mine would be Interlude 53 for the big day.

Wearability really matters to me. I agree with your ranking.
