FINALLY AN AMBRE TABAC REVIEW THATS NOT AN AD
@@dshmoney4156 never even thought this was talked about! Is it?
@@SeldomlyOften I tested it in a mall one time and looked it up afterwards. There wasnt much at all and what there was were retailers advertising it!
@@SeldomlyOften Some spaniards and spanish speaker reviewers did it, as expected. By the way 'hi' from 🇪🇸
@@dshmoney4156 and I though I was digging up some weird obscure thing…
@@alexgecim hey there! 👋
Great comparison! I have Boundless and really like it, looking forward to wearing it as the weather gets cooler.
@@ohfour-seven6228 yeah it’s wearable and interesting, I’ll see if I can get a bottle but I’m not rushing it.
@@SeldomlyOften I'm wondering how it differs from Royal Tobacco?
@@ohfour-seven6228 completely different! Royal Tobacco is very smoky, greener, has a licorice note and is just way more abrasive (I love it to death).
@@SeldomlyOften it sounds very intriguing!
I have been binge watching your vids, and I can relate to most of your descriptions. Very spot on.
@@ptc4566 thanks for the support! I always try to be objective but with something so subjective you never know 🙃
Great Review. Recently got Boundless and really enjoy the relaxing warm vibe it projects.
@@silverfox311 it’s great! Especially for when you don’t necessarily feel like being assaulted 😂
I work as a chef and as soon as I sampled Boundless it just reminded me of a curry I would cook. I find the cumin a very prominent note to my nose. I own a full bottle of Ambre Tabac and I love it for the winter! It smells almost a 1:1 clone of PDM Oajan and lasts much longer. It smells like a baked Apple Pie with cinnamon.
@@kjvkiwi you are probably way more sensitive to spice than me. I really had to search for the cumin in this one compared to other stuff I own (Fate Man says hello 🤣).
I don’t get apple pie from Oajan, Ambre Tabac or Angel’s Share either, definitely cinnamon and booze though
yo amazing quality channel man, good work!
@@kestrels_xp9338 thank you, this is so much appreciated 🙏
A very informative video again as usual. You are very quickly becoming my favourite fragrance youtuber because you are so very genuine.
Bless you.
@@Nojii1 thanks so much! I really have zero motive not to be, it would be much more difficult actually 🤣
@@SeldomlyOften I understand that but I wanted to you to know I appreciate it.
Great take on two decently popular scents. I haven't smelled either! But the armchair imagine is certainly one I'm fond of. 😎🥃
@@justaddlight based on your various comments I would say neither are for you 😜
WOOOO BOUNDLESS FINALLY! I think its also a great entry point into the brand, as it was mine -- actually probably better than the likes of reflection, since you're getting introduced to the resinous and darker aspects of the brand's identity. I also don't think it is necessarily redundant with royal tobacco, since i find that way drier and spicier, way more bold! while the resinous notes in boundless make it feel a bit more chewy/syrupy tangible feeling, but still nowhere near toothache sweet like other tobacco vanilla types. I see it get compared to roja's enigma, and your connection to chergui makes sense too. I find it really nice for casual nights out (even in manageable temp summer nights) or cozy settings with family and significant others, since it won't fill up a room, but still be noticeable. And like you said, if you get closer to it, you can detect nuances (i.e. a greeting hug and kiss ☺) and get comments on it!
Ambre Tabac from your description sounds like an Ambre Narguile DNA type of fragrance, which is always nice and fitting for holiday seasons, but pretty basic and common these days
@@ethanrrs it definitely smells nothing like Royal Tobacco, no similarities at all. I like the chewy image you gave Boundless, it fits even though I perceive it also as very dusty, like coffee grounds.
The ROJA is not similar IMO, it’s less dark and the drydown is heavy on the orris.
Yes, Ambre Tabac is very similar to the Hermes and that extended family!
Glad you liked Boundless! While I’ve only tried 3 Amouage(Journey man and Epic woman being the other two), this one’s my favorite so far. I like the dusty dryness, and that the sweetness is kept to a minimum. And yes, the complexity is there. Did you detect the oud? It gives the base a nice bit of funk to counterbalance the vanilla.
@@nathanielmoody3656 I’m very resistant to oud, so I don’t find it animalic or anything, I get a nice wave of stuff on Boundless.
Thanks for the review!
Boundless for me is more about cinnamon, than about tobacco. Will look at it from the side of tobacco.
Comparison with the Opus XIV would be interesting)
Completely agree, but you have to also consider users that are relatively new to tobacco, it might be quite edgy for them.
I’ll mention Boundless in that review 👍
The Opening on Boundless has one of the best openings I have ever smelled. Unfortunately, after the opening it drops off tremendously. I will check out Ambre Tabac.
@@Mr.E.Fragrance it’s not a replacement for Boundless at all but it’s very beautiful and wearable.
@@SeldomlyOften I got that. I just want to check out Ambre Tabac.
Boundless has a beautiful oppening, but sadly the cumin note in the dry down is too prominent for me. It's I can smell. I'll try it again in winter to see if it becomes more bearable.
Wow, you are very sensitive to cumin, Boundless is one of the easier cumin scents to wear!
I'm back here a few weeks later to say that I'm now 100% acquainted with the cumin note and totally in love with Boundless. I've been wearing it to work very often and it's like my nose finally understood how elegant it is.
@@rafaelcolonelo1255 Thanks for the report! So glad to hear you came around. The cumin really adds that tiny edge to make the fragrance interesting. Good on you for giving it chance!
Haven't tried those two . My favorite tobacco fragrance right now is zaharoff tobac and rayan baco
@@anthonystevens5200 didn’t try those so I couldn’t tell you how these compare!
Yeah, I also got a Angels Share effect, I think to me because of some sweet sharpness en kind of boozy effect (in the air) up close on skin they are really different
@@Petreams definitely in the same ballpark of fragrance family!
Hi Daniel, I already have Naxos. Do you think the scent profile of Naxos is similar enough to Ambre Tabac that owning both might feel redundant?
Hey there! No, Naxos is much fresher and is actually quite unique in its composition. Ambre Tabac is much monotonically sweeter and warm with less "cutting" notes.
Redundancy is a personal thing, use case and utility wise, they could replace each other. Depends on how many bottles you have.
@@SeldomlyOften Thanks Daniel, appreciate the detailed response.
@ anytime 👍
I like royal tobacco, tho maybe it's not the same vibe since it goes very licorice incense, I get the tobacco absolute in the mid but they could have dose it higher
@@pasf4118 Royal Tobacco is also my favorite, it’s completely different from Boundless.
Boundless is great, but I'm more Meander type of guy. For me tabacco is a winter note. But as always great comparison. Cheers.
@@Ganimedes_pl Meander is beautiful but incredibly docile on my skin. Very subtle and calming.
@@SeldomlyOften That's why I like this scent so much. For me autumn is a time for reflection and meditation.
Does Daniel Josier Ambre Tabac remind you of PDM Oajan?
@@All_True_Especially_The_Lies yes, it’s similar. A lot of frags are in that space and are pretty much interchangeable.
Interesting you mention the Amouage creative director change. Are you concerned with the potential L’Oréal deal especially as they are notoriously money hungry and love a reformulation?
@@theworkingkitchen7325 yes and no, ultimately I have the Amouage fragrances that I wanted, if nothing else good comes out of the brand I’ll still love them. There is really nothing we can do 🙃
@@SeldomlyOften as a new fan of amouage still going through the sampling stage with only two bottles I’ll probably start feeling the pressure if it’s officially announced. I love your mention of the perfumers because it’s something I’ve realised is more important than the brand. Finding a perfumes perfumer that I like and trying their other creations has been very fruitful for me.
@@theworkingkitchen7325 yes! The perfumer has a huge say in how the smells comes across! I’ll specifically mention that again in one of my upcoming Xerjoff reviews.
@@theworkingkitchen7325 also, it’s just respectful to honor one’s work 😉
@@SeldomlyOften of course :) this is a great reason as to why I watch your channel. No sales pitch reading off the notes from fragrantica over and over. It’s obvious you are passionate about fragrances and your videos. Keep it up!
If you like challenging Tobaccos try out Bortnikoff Tabac Dore and Tobacco Mandarin by Byredo
@@UpadityaPathak I love Bortnikoff as a house! Kind of difficult to get and pricy but amazing 🤩
I found Boundless really disappointing it sounded like something I would like even though reviews were mixed. I found it boring with no depth but I tried Royal Tobacco at the same time and that was amazing.
@@henrydyrdek8827 I definitely prefer Royal Tobacco myself, it’s soooo much more my speed.
I also was kind of let down the first time I smelled Boundless but this video gave me additional perspectives.
❤❤
@@TheFragranceDecantBoutique ❤️
i smell a lot of cherry coming from the ambre tabac
@@MrGreenKetchup I can see it, the woody note mixed with the spice could come across as cherry like.
Totally agree.
