I’m in the same boat. But I had the furnace man hook the thermostat directly into the furnace. This way when the batteries die, you still have heat and a/c.

I know you think maybe sometimes these videos not read, but this morning you help me. I a single old woman and this morning I get up and my thermostat have these big letters BAT on it. I go running out my house in my nightgown thinking a bat has gotten into my furnace. I finally figured out BAT was short for battery and wondered because it got wires at back of thermostat and how could it need batteries too in my mind. But anyways, yes I watch you and do it. It did take few minutes to reset, that flipped me out but it come back on. Thank you for saving me the big bill of calling heat man. Keep making videos!!

I thought that the backlight was the only function controlled by the battery, so no big deal when my efforts to remove the thermostat cover were unsuccessful. We bought a home that had this thermostat installed and it gave the “replace battery” warning. We had no idea how to do it and were afraid of ripping off pieces that weren’t meant to. This was a super easy tutorial and we got it done in less than a minute. It literally took longer to find this video. LoL Definitely thumbs up!

Happy to report that I was successful in changing out the batteries. The bigger problem was finding 2 new batteries in our junk drawer. I'm very proud of myself thanks to your tutorial.
Sir, I'd like to thank you. My housemate discovered that the display on the thermostat had gone blank after I mentioned that the house had gotten hot and humid. Everyone in this house is asthmatic so that's not a good thing. I had no idea how to replace the batteries. Your video was simple, direct and easy to follow. Things are much more comfortable now. This is the ONLY video I found--after watching about 20, that showed this kind of Honeywell thermostat with this slide out battery case and not removing the face plate. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I kept trying to get the faceplate off and almost broke it. Thank heavens I kept looking for more videos and found this.

The company that installed my air conditioner put the humidity control next to the right side of my Honeywell thermostat. Fortunately, I was able to slide the battery compartment up and out.

Thank goodness we had the same thermostat. I woke up just almost an hour ago & it was hot in here & i was ready to turn the AC on. But the thermostat was not displaying. And i was thinking, that could be the battery. So my, buddy follow your steps, how to replace new batteries in the thermostat, As soon as the battery slot backed in, the thermostat displayed & we got AC turned on.

OMG i also live alone and it’s been 66 degrees in my house for several days! Finally, I got smart enough to TH-cam, it, and you’re the first one that popped up. Hi - My thermostat has been blinking for a couple of weeks now. I was putting off calling my repair guy and hoping that a blinking thermostat didn't mean I'd lose my A/C before I finally got someone to look at it. After seeing your video, I changed the battery this morning! I'm so proud of myself. Yes, it's not that big a deal, but for this senior female, it was. Searched google images for my thermostat. Lead me here. I didn't know it would stop working? Well, mine is not programmable so probably its just the light. I was surprised when you took it off and you had two different batteries in there my dad always told me never mix batteries.

Thanks so much for this video! Mine was loudly beeping periodically like a smoke detector during the middle of the night last night, I guess due to the low batteries. I finally figured out it was the thermostat after the third time it woke me up. I thought replacing the batteries would be simple, just pop the face off and replace them like a previous thermostat I had. Nope! The face comes off but no access to the batteries that way. Thanks for the video showing where they were located, or I may have broken the thing trying to get further back into it. My dog very much thanks you too as that beeping was freaking him out horribly!

Pulling the small piece where the batteries are was very simple. Thank you.
But when you were pulling out the thermostat you said you were going to
show which tabs to push on in order to take it out but you never did.

Well done. Just an FYI. My thermostat is Honeywell also. Looks the same however my cover has no tab on the right. You have to pull straight out from the front. The faceplate comes off (out). Appears to be held in by the pins you’ll see once it’s off. Be careful reinstalling as to not bend the pins.
