Extremely helpful! I found this thermostat to be much more difficult to program than my previous Honeywell, but this video answered all my questions - Thank you! It was thorough, well-paced, and very clear.
It would have been nice to have a tutorial on how to set the air conditioning temp since this was installed in the summertime. Still have no idea how to make it cool.
I searched "my thermometer is haunted" to see what came up and this was one of the videos that popped up. Never seen this thermostat before, probably never will, but I'll avoid it after reading these comments. Best of luck
Device is for Heat/Cold and Fan. Temporary Hold VS Hold: Temporary hold is defaulted, some customers in the 2000s wanted to have their thermostats change temp in their house while they aren't home or sleeping, This mode allows you to set temperature by date and time down to the four categories of " Wake, Away, Home, and Sleep". 4 times a day your temperature can be set at different intervals without you having to change it. Hold is to override all previous information mentioned above. Hold allows you to set a temperature and the device will make your house pump heat or cold constantly or automatically turning on and off the heater/cooler to maintain the set held temperature. If you are waking up at 6:30am and are cold in the morning you could set a TEMPORARY HOLD so that "Wake" is set to 6am. Every morning, you will have heat pumping at that moment and in the every morning to follow starting at 6am. Or: If you wake up at 6:30am and are cold in the morning you could change the temp and set it to HOLD and the device will keep your house that temp until you turn it off which is back to Temporary hold aka your scheduled 4 different intervals as mentioned above. Setting up the a temp for all 4 intervals "wake, away, home, sleep" is the recommended way to use the thermostat to allow an opportunity of "piece of mind" that you don't have to constantly change your temp manually from a dial. HOLD is acting like a dial style thermostat, the downside being you could be using more energy and costing more money over time by keeping your house a high or low temp depending on the season and power consumption. Hope this helps an old video.
Thank you I had it programmed for heat on in the morning for an couple of hours just to knock the chill off. However the air would kick on after and we are now in fall and it’s staying colder during the day before it heats up outside. So I canceled the program and will adjust as needed
I have a Honeywell T4 pro. I came into my house today my heat was cut off but my fan was on auto and the house was burning up like a sauna. What's going on with my thermostat? Is there a way I can cut the fan off completely or should I just disconnect the fan wire from the T4 pro.
Got a new AC unit put in, this is the thermostat it came with. I really hope I can get the heat to come on....I've just been pushing random buttons 🤭 Update...I had the technician come out and it was set to a Gas furnace not electric, so he had to reset it.
Finally figured out how to get it out of "lock mode", and get the furnace back-up, re-set, and running again. With poor eyesight, this thermostat is both hard to see, as well as operate, if the landlord takes the instruction booklet for himself. I nearly panicked, when it showed I had accidently locked it, by mistake. It's nearly at the freezing mark outside today, and temperature was dropping indoors. Thank goodness I have things back to normal again. What a pain in the butt these thermostats are. Rather have the old style thermostats.
This is the worst thermostat . I don’t want to program the air like that , I just want to have one temperature automatic and not running all the time. When I put the temporary hold the air doesn’t turn on until the house is in 82. If I put permanently hold doesn’t stop at all . I don’t want to program for hours or days I just want a normal thermostat. How is possible Honeywell could create something so complicated like that … horrible
my ac kept going back to the scheduled times when i tried to keep it on permanent hold. house was constantly at 82 degrees and its 98 outside. absolutely miserable, hopefully this tutorial helps
So the program you only choose which temp you would like to set it to? So then it's always on? There's no way to schedule when it turns off or shuts off? And I hate how there's no auto cool or auto heat. It's either permanent on or permanent off. My last house had an old thermostat and even that had something a simple as auto on/off. Moved into my new house and this is what I'm given. Definitely replacing it.
my family tried to teach how to use this thermostat about 20 times. watching this video i got it now. ty but i have a question. if the fan is continually on will your bill be higher?
I recommend Checking your manuals for The programming. I installed 15 today same T Stat all carriers heat pumps package units and I had no problems at all . The new box comes with a manual to set up the schedule and a manual to set up the T Stat and the unit they are two different setups

PLEASE tell me how to cancel all programing and just manually put the air on what we want during the day and change it at night if we desire with the +/- buttons?? He always ends up taking it down and putting in one from Home Depot that just goes up and down Lol!
The installing tech evidently thought that all I wanted was a simple Off On change heat or cool, so he set it to super simple. I had to search through a whole whack of comments to find a user who told me how to reverse that. Thank you, stormchasecom. I now have a programmed thermostat!
My house has a heat pump and this was the thermostat installed. Works fine but this particular thermostat model does not have an emergency heat option.
I'm astaounded to read extremely negative reviews about this here and elsewhere. There are a few times that it functions normally. All too often, it indicates that the heat is on, it is "following schedule" when in fact it is programmed for 72 degrees F and the ambient temperature is 67 AND the heat is not on. There are other times when the heat goes on in the middle of the night - when it is programmed to be OFF at that time. Now, it just toggles between Prog and Off. Another older Honeywell thermostat in another part of the house is nearly just as erratic. A local heating oil company who installed both thermostats came out twice and said that they can't figure it out. One said "keep trying and see how it turns out".
As some others have commented, this thermostat is too complex. I want to disconnect the fan coming on by itself.I don’t want the fan coming on and blowing air…I don’t want or need that. What do I do stop the fan from just blowing air?
Why does the fan have to be on? My heat was working fine before I had this new thermostat installed. Now I can feel the fan on when my heat Is on. My house is warm instead of hot. Please Advise.
This isn't a very user friendly thermostat but I got used to it. But it's gonna be a bit tough for elderly people and maybe teens. A/C and Heater settings are not easy to read...my older thermostat at least had a picture of ❄️ and 🔥 logos. And Blue and Red colors to distinguish them.
I agree, new furnace and it’s what they installed. I can’t read what it says without using a flashlight, why no illuminate back light? This thing is 3 days old and a red light is on; tells me I’m not connected to WiFi! I told the installation guy I didn’t want to mess with WiFi connection to over ride it. Now I’m going to have to call them to come fix this thing, plus he said it doesn’t take batteries. When electric goes out will it reset itself? I already hate it.
I don't need all those features! I didn't get into all those advanced settings I just set it to heat 55 degrees and auto fan, I'm away on vacation and just want it to stay at 55 degrees so my pipes don't freeze I'm a simple person lol did I set it right?!?
I purchased my home in Dec. 2022. Heat worked fine. Way too hot upstairs & cold downstairs. Realized I had a programmable thermostat after reading manual last night. Now heat will not increase above 60 and I am VERY COLD now in NJ. I reset the system after learning how last night and nothing. I've tried different fan modes too. I have it set at 75, which is very high for me, to come on and warm up, but nothing. Doing a test, not sure what it does & nothing. I see some things not being discussed by anyone on TH-cam under "ISU" "120 0." Then you can change it to all of these different three and four digit numbers with a sub number next to it. What is going on??? I'm soooo frustrated. The manual is useless. PLEASE HELP before I have to call a service and spend more money. Thanks!
In the beginning of the video you said it will run on temporary hold until 6PM is that the scheduled time it was set to or the time allotted for the temporary hold?
I think I did everything I could. Permanently set as 72, auto fan, heating on, confirmed program is not set, however home temp all night and morning is 66. It is freezing in the morning. Am I missing something…?
My thermostat is set to 74 on permanent hold but will only get down to 76 and only start when the temp hits 77. This just recently happened so I'm not sure why
Thiers a lot to be said for old scholl mercury switchs....I cant figure out this model of Honey well with my new Furnace, so I upped to 32C to rule out if the furnace was not set up correctly..Furnace is excellent just need more time figuring out the t stat.
So complicated! I I’m not liking this thermostat all! I’m staying with manual adjustment! Do you have to set each day to a schedule? Im Retired and want the same 2 temps every day…. 8am and 10pm. Is there an easy way to set this?
How do you cancel the "following schedule"? My thermostat was fine all summer, but when I switched to "heat" it indicated that. I don't need to set for following a schedule.
Why does my old slide style mercury stat control my heat/cool just fine. But when I switch to t4 stat the fan runs all the time. (And yes it’s on auto).
How do I turn off the fan completely , it has only 3 2 options: 1st option is I could meet you front of your terminal if your are arriving on time , 2nd option ( option for early arrivals or delays ) is you can pick up the car from my parking street anytime you want which is few minutes from LAX . - on , auto, and circ.
Installers set mine at 70 on heat, I’m freezing! I get the north wind blowing across the river & I’ve got to use my heating pad to stay warm. Honeywell WiFi 8000, all digital & supposed to not use the WiFi setup bc I’m a senior and don’t know how to use it, complicated!! Installer said I didn’t have to use the WiFi, he set it at 70; now red alert light on saying not connected to WiFi. I got the best furnace out of five choices so why this complicated thermostat?
I miss the old ones with actual switches. Why does everything have to be digital? The old ones worked just fine. Just like appliances, no one needs a washing machine that you can operate from a cell phone.
Mine is off by an hour. My time is set correctly, but the scheduling feature operates on a different time. I have my Sleep set to 10:00pm, but it would kick on at 9:00pm. I had to set my sleep schedule to 11:00pm to get it to kick on at 10:00pm. It's like this for all 4 of the schedule settings. It makes no sense.
After changing the batteries the heat/ac won’t come on but shows it’s on, on the display panel. Could I have blown a fuse just by changing out the batteries in the thermostat?
Just got this installed yesterday evening. It’s 4 am. The house was at 70 but the heat not to go off until 62. What? Not the temp I picked. He kept asking if I wanted temp or permanent hold. I told him I didn’t understand what those things meant. I wanted him to set it so the AC would turn on if it 75 and the heat if it hit 72. He said it could not do it. My last one could. I live in northern il the day starts out at 49 and ends at 80 sometimes. Of course it needs to change btw heat and AC. Even the person installing it couldn’t figure it out. Why would anyone want the settings the stop when it’s 6:00? Obviously I picked temp instead of permanent to waKe up cold. My last thermostat was a Honeywell. I didn’t understand what they did to this thing. Also the manual says the big number is the number you want the temp to be but it’s not it’s the little number that gets changed above it. Even the manual is wrong.
Is there anyway to not set a schedule and simply make adjustments by increasing or decreasing the temperature and after you increase or decrease that temperature the heat adjusts accordingly immediately without a five minute delay and you also don't have to press hold?
@@jzeis Yes, there is a "dummy mode" for lack of a better phrase that all you have to do is set it to air con or heat mode and then push the temperatures arrows up or down to desired temp. Nothing else needs to be touched. Can easily explain it to our short term guests. Sorry-- my furnace guy modified it so no idea how to get to the dummy mode.
I’m confused when you’re trying to make a schedule since it’s hot where I’m at I don’t want the heater to come on in the morning when I leave when I come home and before I go to bed how do I just use the program mode just for the air conditioner

@@dmariewalker6880 Absolutely true. It is very hard to read even with reading glasses, although I don't need one. It is not made for human eye.
Same problem
My thermostat is set to 74 on permanent hold but will only get down to 76 and only start when the temp hits 77. This just recently happened so I'm not sure why
Thiers a lot to be said for old scholl mercury switchs....I cant figure out this model of Honey well with my new Furnace, so I upped to 32C to rule out if the furnace was not set up correctly..Furnace is excellent just need more time figuring out the t stat.
Best video on this topic 🙏🏽👍🏼👏🏾
THANK YOU FOR THIS TUTORIAL IT WAS VERY HELPFUL!!!
Your video is the best.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I just replaced 3x T4 Pro with Nest Thermostats. I can not live with non-WiFi thermostat any longer. I am surprised they come with 2022 new house.
Great job!
So complicated! I I’m not liking this thermostat all! I’m staying with manual adjustment! Do you have to set each day to a schedule? Im Retired and want the same 2 temps every day…. 8am and 10pm. Is there an easy way to set this?
Great video
Thank you for this video
Good thing the new landlords changed the old dials out to improperly install this so my heat doesn’t even come on when I select my temp.
How do you cancel the "following schedule"? My thermostat was fine all summer, but when I switched to "heat" it indicated that.
I don't need to set for following a schedule.
We’re you able to figure it out? I’m having issues with this.
@@marthanavarro7681 It was a while ago, but I think I just turned if off and then reset it. Good luck!
How do you turn off the Fan setting? This thing is super complex. I wishbthey would go back to the old thermostats....much easier to use.
Just got it. How do I turn it off when my house is cold enough? Dr old lady.
This is definitely the worst thermostat I’ve ever had to use. They can’t just have heat on or off??
I miss the old ones with actual switches. Why does everything have to be digital? The old ones worked just fine. Just like appliances, no one needs a washing machine that you can operate from a cell phone.
Mine is off by an hour. My time is set correctly, but the scheduling feature operates on a different time. I have my Sleep set to 10:00pm, but it would kick on at 9:00pm. I had to set my sleep schedule to 11:00pm to get it to kick on at 10:00pm. It's like this for all 4 of the schedule settings. It makes no sense.
This thermostat is garbage. Thanks for helping me not wake up to 85 degrees
After changing the batteries the heat/ac won’t come on but shows it’s on, on the display panel. Could I have blown a fuse just by changing out the batteries in the thermostat?
Thank you so much.....I just couldn't figure out how to change it before :)
Did you ever find an answer to this question? That's my problem right now.
@@jzeis Yes, there is a "dummy mode" for lack of a better phrase that all you have to do is set it to air con or heat mode and then push the temperatures arrows up or down to desired temp. Nothing else needs to be touched. Can easily explain it to our short term guests. Sorry-- my furnace guy modified it so no idea how to get to the dummy mode.
best help out there! thanks
Can you change the temp range limits on this?
My desired temperature is 60 but the middle temperature is stuck at 85 and I’m sweating like crazy and I don’t know how to fix it
Read my comments to see the instructions I used to get my unit to my desired temperature.
I beg your pardon! 60 degrees? That’s freezing
@@natelow8517 it's actually comfortable for most of us!
@@angie21290 No, NOT "most". Most people don't like freezing. Speak for yourself.
@@AGreaterAmerica not sure who was speaking to you. Have a blessed day.
How to switch from COOL to heat?
How do you turn the A/C on though, ours use to work and kick in instantly now it isn't even turning on...And how do you reset the settings?
Excellent, excellent. Thank you.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
This is so helpful thank you!!!
I’m confused when you’re trying to make a schedule since it’s hot where I’m at I don’t want the heater to come on in the morning when I leave when I come home and before I go to bed how do I just use the program mode just for the air conditioner
How to turn my fan off during the day because It still runs on auto and turns off out the blue then turns back on
I think I got it working.i got the fan on.thanks
Thank you for the video. Though I’d never pick this awful device if I had a choice.
Quick question, if I want to make the ac or boiler turn on its own, how I do that
Thank you I've been freezing for a week😂
