    That is the kind of reliability you want a launch system to have when it will finally bring humans to Mars in a few years. Thank you SpaceX for doing this. You are awesome.

      I don't think the moon will ever have an option to retire on it. It will be used as space station rather than a place to live (low gravity, a little resources, almost no radiation shield). The red or the blue are the options ;) But of course the time might be a constraint.

    I have two questions;
    1. What are the excess gasses surrounding the rocket on the launchpad?
    2. What is the white ring that falls of the second stage booster at ~23:35 as it powers on?
    This never gets old. Ever.

    • @badwolfhs7815
      @badwolfhs7815 7 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      1. Water vapor as excess liquid oxygen is vented out of the tanks, it continues to warm up while the rocket is sitting on the pad so some of the LOX boils off and needs to be released
      2. A stiffener ring that holds the vacuum engine bell in shape, the heat of ignition melts a fastener and allows the stiffener to fall off
