If you're only going to the trendy places, you're not a foodie, you're a food tourist. If your soul loves food, you respect the craftmanship of dishes and you think it's an important part of your life even if you're not making it or using the best quality ingredients, you're a foodie.
You’re a foodie- you’re just not a hipster foodie. If you love food, live to eat, love cooking, watching the Food Network, and reading cookbooks / food blogs, you are indeed a foodie!
Yes! I am the same way. I cook everyday and when I do eat out and find something delicious I would try to recreate it as well. Love the dish you made, it looks delicious!
I think there's just different types of foodies. There are some that do elaborate home cooking for example, while others try all the hot new spots in town.
I see myself as a foodie. I think both of your arguments of what makes a foodie are valid because both the types of people you described are foodies to me, both types of people make great effort to enjoy food and try new foods often. It's just the ways you define "great effort" that's different. I hate waiting in lines but I will drive a great distance, as long as the wait isn't that great when I arrive. I love to try to cook new foods but I'll also eat things that some people consider not very great, maybe too basic, if it's a comfort food to me.
As a Singaporean, I agree with you. I only go to viral eating places when someone drags me there. I cook almost daily. And dont mind at all eating at non popular places. I hate to queue for my food.
I agree that not all crowded places are worth the hype, but I think what most Singaporeans feel is that they are willing to queue up or travel far to eat food that they know is good or their friends recommend them! But overall i also agree with ur sentiment fully and I think very similarly to you in finding most food delicious 😂
Yes!! Just like me, I’m not appeal by long queues and crowds, not going to waste my time there, but I genuinely love to eat and I express it fondly 😊 I’m also easy to please and I love to recreate it at home too. Oftentimes what happened to viral restaurants or vendors is, they can’t provide enough service and adequate quality, when they are bombarded with customers and that often a let down. Few restaurants owner has spoken about how viral make their restaurants rate going down, as it will tarnish their grade and quality tremendously, until certain time when they have enough staff and ready to receive a larger customer.
I mean, I get both of you guys' perspective. I consider myself a foodie, as I'm very passionate about food but I wouldn’t be considered as such by non-brown people, "not adventurous enough" as I'm vegetarian and I'm not willing to step out of my comfort zone to eat any kind of meat, but I'm very passionate about food regardless. I just so happen to be Indian and we Indians have a huge diversity of vegetarian food. So any Indian will digress and say that you can be vegetarian and adventurous with food but most people who aren't aware of scale of Indian vegetarian culinary would digress. My point being, everyone has different standards, and you should categorize yourself by your own standards, you don't have to match or satisfy other people's standards!!!
Litterly the only requirement is food. Love for food, all kinds of food, willingness to try new things, just...love of food. That's all. You could have texture issues or whatnot and still labeled a foodie. It's just...food. someone who loves food.
you’re a classy foodie lol most american foodies are down to wait long ass lines and travel just for food bc we are fat and lazy😂most of us cant even cook, cooking THIS WELL absolutely makes you a foodie on its own
Going out of your way to eat popular food is BASELINE foodie. You’re the more evolved foodie in my eyes 😂 the ones who are not picky and have an experienced palette and enjoy most things
What I heard was being a lover and appreciator of food means standing in line for it 😂 gtfo I'll research and make it myself-- (Relative to U.S., will admit. We don't all have the best street food culture, and if it was really great street food they'll still charge you a damn mortgage)
In my mind, what makes a person a foodie is their love of food. That’s it. That’s the only requirement.
Anyone who can cook an enjoys food is an instant foodie in my book tbh but maybe my standards r low lol?
Then I guess my standards are low too haha!
@@saemmulsong
Haha in that sense rly a lot of ppl standards r too low lol
Doesn't matter good food is good food, good people are good people. We don't need to make clear distinctions 😊 one love ❤
My definition of foodie is being adventurous to try new food

Food tourist is such a great term!
Agree 🙌
Yesss my kind of foodie! People looking for long queues outside restaurants are usuallyyy chasing a trend more than the culinary experience

Joining a huge que for a popular food makes you a sheep, not a foodie!👍
For me, you definitely are. You are so adventurous on food and even try cooking all kind of chinese cuisine food being a korean . Thumb up 👍

Love your vids! Thanks 4 the insight ❤❤
Imo as long as you like/love food you're a foodie - for me alot of the times i cant even eat the popular foods but i still love to eat!
Agreed!
I just thought a foodie was someone who loved food and taking pics as well!
I think there's just different types of foodies.

as a Singaporean, I proclaim you are a foodie

Definition of a foodie 😊
In Singapore, the long queues really mean good food tho!

They also seem very passionate when discussing the best places, which I respect😊
You are a foodie. A foodie loves foodie and tries a lot.
Popular spots are often overrated.

When I went to Singapore there's a store in the Hawker center with a really long queue. I did not queue there haha
Happy Independence Day 💖✨🇮🇳

Foodies love food. Thats it. Express it however you like. I rarely eat out but I'm a cook by trade and I love trying new recipes
I love spice n pans and they are my go to channel for local food recipes!!❤
Same! I love their recipes
This looks so yummy 😋

Everything you said shows me that you are a foodie, especially the comfort zone part.
Wow the food looks good 😮
❤no matter other say .to me u r foodie. i love your videos 😊
Thank you so much 😀
Totally agreed ❤
You might not be a traditional foodie but I think you still are a foodie.
I also definitely think of you as a big foodie! I guess there's different ways to be a foodie ^_^
I think so too!
What were the two black things?? 🤔

Not eating at places that are expensive and popular doesn't make u not a foodie. So long as u enjoy food!
Imho queuing for food is just a singaporean thing because theres nothing else to do so ppl kill time by queuing 😂
Is that kelp?
It’s wood ear mushroom :)
