I don’t like holding onto videos partly cause I get so excited to share em with y’all. I’ll be back in action looking to save something next week. Still on the hunt for that one site that will give me my first Paleo piece. I know that I'm in a good place here in the Sequatchie Valley and Fall Creek Falls area. It's just a matter of time until I find it. Plowing season is right around the corner 🤞Happy holidays

Stunning find. Why are the left edges on those so different? Obviously I’m new to the hobby 😂 but I’m trying to learn everything I can. It’s my new addiction. 🤪
Thank you so much for the inquiry 🧐 The left hand bevels are a early archaic reshaping technique. It was utilized sometime around 8,000-10000k years ago. It enabled Native Americans to resharpen blades and projectile points without having to take the blade/projectile off its handle/spear. It’s only seen on point types from this time frame and only so many types from this time frame used this technique. So it makes identifying the types a little easier. Stick with the channel and go back and watch some of the rock talks/cleanup videos and you may learn a little more. I hope you stick with the hobby. It only takes one good one to light the fire of passion. I put down my rod and rifle long ago to purse these amazing pieces of history. No better rush than finding something that human hands havnt touched in 8-12k years ago. Hell I love em all regardless of age honestly. Also nothing more grounding for me than being in nature enjoying gods creation. Best of luck to you and I hope you have a merry Christmas. 🎄

Gaining insight on the internet is sometimes like trying to get a drink of water from a fire hydrant which is why I knew you could point me in the right direction. I’m an outdoor lover too and for some reason have always been good at finding sharks teeth. One day it dawned on me when I couldn’t visit the beach for several years, what about artifact hunting. You know the rest…LOL. I’ve found a few really cool stone tools and I’m optimistic about finding my first point. I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas 🎄

Honestly it would be the opposite. Heavily flaked sites I hunt but I prefer not seeing much as far as flakes go which typically indicates age. Also can tell the age of a site by the type of flakes.. Yes, there are multi cultural areas both woodland and paleo peoples frequented but my specialty is finding the areas only the oldies were focused on and usually the ratio is 1:2 early archaic types to mid/late archaic. Heavily flaked sites are good indicators to a major campsite for a larger village. There’s a huge difference in finding camp sites and kill sites. Kill sites are where a way higher majority of the points are flawless. Even on the old campsites you typically find what’s been discarded from being broken on the hunt or what’s been used up. That’s not to say tho very nice artifacts aren’t found in campsites. Hope this information helps brother. Y’all take care and have a merry Christmas 🎄
